Solar roof production before PTO vs after PTO

incorrect, powerwalls could be limiting their charge rate for various reasons, but the hard limit is 5kw per powerwall.

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

your strings are connected to your inverter incorrectly. get tesla to wire strings individually to each mppt, they paralleled your strings on the roof to save wire.

Solar roof production before PTO vs after PTO

Your production might be limited by the powerwall charge rate…. How manny paw did you say you have?

the nice thing about enphase, data and lots of it. you even get a replay of the day (first pic, see slider on bottom and play).

you have two inverters, please post the FULL pypowerwall output. when running pvwatts, did you set the ac/dc ratio to one in the advanced field?

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

MAKE them add two more homeruns. MP1 and MP3 need to be on separate MPPT controllers, not bonded (two arrays in parallel and jumpered to two mppt inputs); and same for MP2 and MP5. cheap bastards trying to save money on wire. 1&3 are at different azimuth. 2&5 have different panel counts and...

Electrical issues with new load center

my air handlers are on their own circuit breaker, which includes electric heat... i think you might have to much load on one circuit. your blower might draw 6 to 10 amps and microwave 10-15 amps.

    EIA Electric Power Monthly

it didn't mater if they were frozen solid during Uri, because the wind was NOT BLOWING. Texas is up to 10GW of installed and operating utility scale solar. :D

Electrical issues with new load center

glad it is taken care of. I'm sure the breaker is new, just been rattling around in the truck or Wearhouse. usually thermostats are powered by the 24v system from the air handler, so that is strange to me.

Puerto Rico wants to tax people for Solar generation

Puerto Rico wants to tax people for Solar generation

this is like taxing people for making a hamburger at home! buy 2 bucks of ingredients, make burger valued at 8 dollars at restaurant; thus taxing them on the added value. insane! what if I mow my own lawn! I'm surprised Oregon hasn't made it illegal to do your own yard work, like they did...

(perhaps) half of solar and wind energy production should go towards hydrogen production

because the grid is becoming less reliable due to only large investments in renewables, not dispatchable power. companies/people will not switch behaviors until there is a large economic benefit. for example, about 6 years age Brazos electric generation co-op decided not to build a new Peaker...

    Powerwall Outside Direct Sun Florida

Let’s not talk heat index, powerwalls don’t sweat! Doesn’t help your argument. 😓 just real temps. I bet your wall gets higher then ambient, but west is better the east facing wall. Can you revise your irrigation to drip? On the other hand, water can be a cooling system, so perhaps they do...

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

You have panels of four azimuths, Each azimuth should be separate array on individual mppt. I don’t know how to be more clear. Come on man!

Electrical issues with new load center

so circuits are pig tailed from main panel to new backup panel. you would have to trace the circuits back to the original wires in main panel.

Electrical issues with new load center

Can you remove cover. Shouldn’t backfeed be at the bottom. There is no master breaker in panel. Can you provide pictures of complete system, with first pictures of complete system inside and out, followed by detailed pictures, and labels on panels. The 15 amp is not handle tied together, so...
  18. CrazyRabbit

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

Correct, not connected. A single string should be 10 amp and around 37-40 volt/panel at optimal mppt voltage. There is an indicator pypowerwall output if a input is bonded together, the inverter can detect that. So you should post full output.
  19. CrazyRabbit

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

They fubar’d your panel wiring. I would assume 37 degrees, 10/12 pitch. They fubar’d your array wiring design. All four arrays should be on individual mppt controller. Between mppt and inverter is a buck/boost circuit as voltage needs to be equal from all four arrays before going to the...

Electrical issues with new load center

why double pole breaker for 15 amp circuit? is AC 240V, why is microwave sharing this circuit? doesn't the NEC require the microwave to be on dedicated 20 amp circuit. or is 15 amp circuit a multi wire branch circuit?

do a loads calculation for your house. download mike holts tool box, it will do loads calculation with everything you want backed up. i have 320 amp service and two 200 amp panels. prior to battery install i replaced one panel with a 80 circuit panel and combined all my backup loads onto it...

(perhaps) half of solar and wind energy production should go towards hydrogen production

batteries are only economically viable for peak shaving, where they are earning +$500 per mwh. batteries are too expensive, and don't last long. if batteries are so great, then pay me $10 bucks per kwh for power from my powerwalls i deliver to the grid. pick a fuel (ammonia) to produce from...

California Utilities Plan All Out War On Solar, Please Read And Help

Smoke or Heat detector in the garage

@mswlogo, let me know how that works out for you. if you use your garage to weld, braze, grind, cut, fabricate things, park ice vehicles in, store non battery powered lawn equipment; i think you will have a lot false alarms. now if you use your garage as a living space extension you will...

(perhaps) half of solar and wind energy production should go towards hydrogen production

I think MOST of us agree we need a base level of dispatchable energy production to meet demand when the sun is not out and the wind isn't blowing. but in the mean time to stabilize energy production, we should mandate that a certain percentage of energy produced by wind and solar should go...

Low peak values on a new installation

i think they should just run the extra home run and put each string on its own mppt.... on the bright side you are generating 3450w on the array over the garage. but the one on the house is only producing half of what it should be. the current on both mppt's should be 10 amps, not 5 amps. my...

Low peak values on a new installation

the 2x 7 arrays are jumpered together is why a and b always show the same power. i think the other array could be clipping on the one mppt. i can't find a tesla installation manual for the inverter.

Low peak values on a new installation

i'm a firm believer tesla designers DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DESIGN/WIRE SOLAR ARRAYS... good post OP, for once didn't need to ask for more information. usual post is "my system is under performing"!
  32. CrazyRabbit

Low peak values on a new installation

also what is the maximum power a mppt can handle tesla inverters. op has 4kw on one mppt for the 11 panel array. perhaps that one should be jumpered to both mppt's as it could be clipping.
  33. CrazyRabbit

Low peak values on a new installation

what happens to output with strings in parallel when you have partial shading on one string? voltage has to be equal on both arrays, so current would have to decrease. now does the array would not be at the same optimal power point as the other array, so the mppt will seek a new optimal power...

in no way should they be obligated to pay you 69 cents/kwh. this effectively raises rates on everyone else, which isn't fair either having to pay a access fee to use the grid as your battery is fair, i wouldn't want to lose this. i was backfeeding the other day when price of wholesale...
