Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

I am happy to report that the service center indeed fixed it over the air for me. Thank you everyone for your advice! That was far simpler than I thought it would be.

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

I had my eMMC replaced on my 2013. Ever since, my car doesn’t totally respond to the app. I can change climate, media, and the sunroof via the app, but cannot unlock the doors or open either trunk. The app will show it was done, but the car actually won’t do it. About 20 sec later, the app...

    Tesla offering insurance next month

My 2018 Model 3 is less than $100 every 6 months more to insure than my 2010 Lexus IS 250. YMMV.

What color gray is my S?

Yes, Dolphin Gray is the lighter one. Steel Gray and Midnight Silver Metallic are the same color/paint code.

What color gray is my S?

Lighting will make a huge difference. My profile pic is dolphin gray but looks like steel gray on my laptop. This is a pic I took when I first bought my car alongside a steel gray one.

    Extended Warranty News Flash !!

My S is at almost 80k miles, but still covered bumper to bumper via the CPO warranty. Does X-Care offer any discount in purchase price because the car is still under warranty vs. an out of warranty 80k mike car?

Stranger pulls public charge cable out "Teslas Don't need to charge"

It is definitely harder, but not too bad. That said, I’ve used my J-adapter well over 100 times if not more than 200 times now in four years.

Stranger pulls public charge cable out "Teslas Don't need to charge"

This has not been my experience at all. My 2013 S is able to have my work’s J1772 plug taken off my adapter while the adapter stayed in the car with no fault codes or red ring. I can then be replugged I with my adapter still there (though I may have to tell the Tesla to “start charging” if...

If I purchase AP thru website, how long will it take to become operational

Saturday I called support and the guy “opened a ticket”. Monday I sent an email to [email protected] and I submitted a message through my Tesla account as well. This morning I emailed my local service center that replied “I do not see any notes in your M3 account. I will add in these...

If I purchase AP thru website, how long will it take to become operational

In five hours I will be at 7 days since I purchased AutoPilot and still don’t have it. This is very frustrating when Tesla themselves set the expectation of “up to 3 days”.

Did that exact sequence multiple times in the past week without success.

I have found that if you press the brakes to start up the car, the Controls button at least works and I can manually bring up the camera over the update screen.

Ouch! Mine popped up after I rebooted the car. I waited ten minutes and then came inside. Its almost midnight and I already have coffee creamer lol.

If I purchase AP thru website, how long will it take to become operational

Strictly just my own opinion here, but outside of this thread, 2019.5.15 has been a pretty quick rollout throughout the fleet with hundreds of cars getting it today. I personally am of the same opinion as others that the option in code to just enable AP vs. EAP wasn’t in earlier 2019 builds...

$1k Refunds on FSD Start March 11

That level of AP is actually $2k, not $3k (for 2017/2018 owners).

Thank you Tesla for making a Autopilot affordable to more people

Ouch. Yeah, I’d wait for it to update the $2k + $3k then. May it happen soon for you!

Thank you Tesla for making a Autopilot affordable to more people

EAP was $7k post-delivery I thought. If they applied the 50% off to your account still and you would want Summon, Nav on AutoPilot, AutoPark, then I'd pull the trigger to get them all for $3.5k. If you wait until the pricing goes to $2k for TACC and AutoSteer, then its another $3k for those...

Dashcam gets updated with side camera recording capabilities

My Model ≡ isn't set up on my wifi and it still has received multiple updates to get to 50.6. I'm sure it would be faster over wifi, but that isn't strictly needed.

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

My S is on v9 and still has the rotating maps, so I doubt we will see v8 owners get a fix for it. I haven't noticed it on the 3, but I'm not the daily driver of that one and thus, could have just missed it.

Dead Model S/40 (is it the 12v?)

I would suggest doing a search here for "fuse pull" (or something similar to it) to see which fuse controls the MCU, gateway, and other major 12v computer systems. Pull that fuse for a few minutes, then put it back in. That is something folks used to do sometimes when the computers would get...

    Mid Range waiting room

One of my friends with a Long Range 3 was waiting for Standard Range to come out to get another for his wife. Well yesterday when we heard the stores were open until midnight and that some locations had some unsold, he gave a call and they had her exact config in a Mid-Range available. So last...

    Mid Range waiting room

You may be referring to my post about 4 pages back. My SvC knows me very well and would eventually do that. I just haven’t worried about it with the holidays as it’s nothing that’s preventing me from driving the car.

    Mid Range waiting room

A few months back Tesla replaces the door seal on my S and it was the same, requiring extra force to close compared to before. About two months later, it didn’t need that again. Remember that these cars are days to weeks old, so just give it time and it will likely no longer need as much force...

Sadly, he is not wrong. His comments are often echoed by others, but I would add that a key point is "YMMV". It all depends on how well versed and how proactive the individuals are work with are, and its a crapshoot who you get. The folks I worked with on my car in Vegas were excellent...

Oh it is most definitely unsecured. They even include this bold comment in a larger font in my loan docs. Lightstream has as much recourse in the event of non-payment as a credit card company does.

Mine are still there. I took delivery already though, did you? After I took delivery, they were no longer on the main page, but I had to click on "View Details" for my car and they were then on that page. Maybe that is why you don't see it today?

3M Crystalline vs PINNACLE vs Suntek CIR vs LLumar CTX vs Wincos Tint

Would you have a recommendation on the value difference between XR Black and Llumar Pinnacle? I am looking to get my 3 done (my S previously had Llumar CTX put on). Wifi disconnects when you start driving the car, but you can click LTE and click on the wifi hotspot then. At least this is how it works on my S. I haven't tried on the 3 yet.

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

Your "not entirely accurate" is not entirely accurate :) While some higher end cars have lockable rear fold-down seats, not all do. Hence why I said "many" and not "all" nor "most". My Lexus is such an example.
  34. Cyclone

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

Many car makes face the same exposure/risk, but Teslas are being targeted. So the answer to your question depends on which “problem” you are asking about.

Just notify your Delivery Advisor (Vegas one, not local if possible) to have them update it and generate a new MVPA, or proceed with it and have the new lender refinance the Tesla loan after delivery.

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

My Toyota 4Runner, Lexus IS, and Mazda 626 didn’t have locks for putting the seats down. But our old Mitsubishi did. Eh? It would be nice to have, but I don’t consider it a design flaw.

I have both an S and a midrange 3. I definitely tell the difference between them and “lighter and more nimble” is very accurate. Looking out the front, I love the 3’s more expansive view. Looking out the back, I prefer my S’s view as with my seat position, I cannot see but the roofs of cars...

You can refinance the loan. Most lenders (all that I’ve ever worked with) will refinance at “new car” rates for the current and prior year, if not even older.

Anyone elses MR constantly start up with a black screen/T logo?

I’ve had my 3 and today was the first time it did this. Got home, went and grabbed the key cards to name them in the car, and when I got back to the car maybe 5 minutes later, the door opened and I waited a good minute for the screen to boot up. I guess mine really wanted a nap today :)

    Crazy J1772 Adapter Question

I had a similar situation at my office maybe two years ago and after maybe 30 minutes of work my J1772 adapter came off. When we looked in the ChargePoint cable, the rubber gasket was all in the wrong spot and basically my adapter got wedged in with the gasket, “locking” it in. Terrifying to...
