    FSD beta battery drain

RIGHT. Makes no sense that battery drain would be worse due to having fsd.
  2. Silicon Desert

Do we trust Tesla with our cars/data??!!

Reminds me of a time when I could drive to the store and leave my keys in the ignition, and no one ever bothered the car or tried to get in it. Lots of people did it in our small town. Obviously, that was LONG ago.

Coast to Coast Road Trip (LA --> ATL)

I must be looking in the wrong dictionary. I think these young folks make up new terms so only they understand........ just like what our generation did in the 50s and 60s

    FSD —> EAP?

    So do and some don't
  5. Silicon Desert

WHY! Opening up Tesla Superchargers to any EV is a bad idea!

Starman was complaining that there was no charging station on Mars during his trip around the solar system.

FSD Beta Performance Summary Week 3

It's not supposed to use the stop sign as a reference for where to actually stop. It uses a reference to the intersection or to the horizontal line on the road (if it is there). So where does the car stop relative to those indicators (not the stop sign).
  7. Silicon Desert

    FSD —> EAP?

yes, and that is exactly what I did when i bought the car. Lower registration fees.

Coast to Coast Road Trip (LA --> ATL)

I saw that word "Clutch" a couple times. Help an old man and tell me what the heck is "clutch". Must be a millennial term? ;) To me, that is a thing on an old manual transmission car.

Elon backtracks (again): will layoff Hourly workers including those supporting FSD program

hmmm, that is what I used to say about the East Coast guys when my corporate office was in Tampa. and I was in San Francisco.

How to tell after power outage if you are using PW Batteries or if the grid is back on?

right, agree. That is basically what I am saying. :)
  11. Silicon Desert

How to tell after power outage if you are using PW Batteries or if the grid is back on?

The neighbors stop cursing when power comes back on. Seriously though, as mentioned by others, the App and notifications are pretty clear as to what is going on. Also, there are products on the market that will automatically turn off the breaker for selected high energy items when the grid goes...

Any other owners second guess if their next car should be another Tesla?

As strange as it may sound, even with having 5+ years of great experience with my cars and having done work for them (no problems there either), I won't buy another Tesla. Other things coming down the line I am more interested in buying.
  13. Silicon Desert

Elon backtracks (again): will layoff Hourly workers including those supporting FSD program

Not convinced by that statement after my Audi 4000 engine cracked on the bay bridge long ago and was too expensive to fix. I never considered another Audi after that, though lots of people have good luck with them. My MX is starting on the 6th year and hasn't broken down yet. :) I would...

Ev charging in the next 1-2 years

Based on my consulting with the utilities, I ain't buying that rose-colored glasses scenario. Time will tell in a few years. :)

I can send over a priest to perform an exorcism

So where is the specific comment about laying off FSD folks as indicated in the title?

Effect of clouds on Solar Generation

I guess I should be more lucid by saying up here in this elevation, it seems to be either perfectly clear with no clouds or there are clouds covering everything. I don't often see the edge effect with those beautiful puffy clouds like you get down there.

Nice idea, but I prefer watching the wife wiggle while she wipes the car dry in her bathing suit.

How can I permanently remove the browser from my Tesla

On a more serious note, perhaps you can enlighten us as to why you are so upset with the browser and why you want to nuke it? Did you catch the wife watching porn?:eek:

Effect of clouds on Solar Generation

Hi J, good to see you here again. Yup, I used to see that "Cloud Edge Effect" on my house in San Ramon. Sometimes it would increase the average output by 10% or more. I don't see it so much up here. Thanks for the graph.
  21. Silicon Desert

How can I permanently remove the browser from my Tesla

A stick of dynamite will do it. But then you won't have a car. Stay in the car when you light it to make sure it works.
  22. Silicon Desert

Bay Area recommendations for window Tinting?

You might want to clarify what "Bay Area" you are referring to ? Seems like folks think you are talking about the San Francisco area, yet I know a lot of bay areas in the USA. :)
  23. Silicon Desert

What is considered a "long trip" when considering charging to 100%?

That's not the reason he said it. That's more of a side-effect of charging to 100%. The real reason is to maintain better battery health by not doing it regularly. :)
  24. Silicon Desert

Upload of FSD Beta snapshots through hotspot exceeds data cap

precisely. I guess I should have said it won't do those uploads by cellular. Yet, I haven't had any big uploads using a hotspot while driving, but see them after I park the car. Not sure what that is about.

When is ultra Long Range battery coming?

Man I wish I could have said it like that. SPOT ON !
  26. Silicon Desert

When is ultra Long Range battery coming?

For me, I absolutely completely disagree. You've had the car for a day so likely never taken a long trip. I've taken my MX across the USA and back 6 times in the last 5 years and it was a fabulous experience. You need to take more time with the car to understand it :)

FSD Beta Consistently Misses This Stop Sign [Footage] (2022.12.3.20)

Interesting. Looks like the stop sign sure is faded. But yeah, there are other methods for determining it should stop.

Keeping power on when parked, and not in driver seat

Well, you are replying to a quote from over 5 years ago, so that's why it is hard. The car worked a lot differently back then. These days we have Dog mode and other ways to keep on the AC/heat as you may know. :)

The Safety Score system needs some serious work

Best of luck with keeping the score in LA. I know it is tough. I get down through there a few times a year and like any big city, my knuckles are white and blood pressure is high

And maybe this will help you if your goal is to try to maintain a good score... https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/594/how-to-increase-your-tesla-safety-score#:~:text=%20How%20to%20increase%20your%20Tesla%20Safety%20Score,is%20looking%20at%20the%20g-forces%20here...%20More%20

The Safety Score system needs some serious work

While I agree it needs some work, it isn't going to happen. In fact it won't be around for FSD beta much longer. Only for people that have Tesla insurance. Even then I don't expect significant changes (at least from what I hear at the GF). Regarding this statement "Anytime I am in traffic...

    Bring back EAP (to USA)

That's what my wife said. But she is a bit more conservative and would pay $ 3K
  34. Silicon Desert

Upload of FSD Beta snapshots through hotspot exceeds data cap

no I think you got that wrong. It doesn't upload large amounts of data while driving. Are you sure this didn't happen when you got back to your destination and forgot to disconnect your hotspot from the car?

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

I didn't see where he called you a liar. He was "doubting" that you had a Tesla. Perhaps I missed something. I guess we can move on from that now :)
  36. Silicon Desert

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

Read his post again. You are misunderstanding. RIGHT, AP will still go straight and will not turn left when you signal. What he is saying is that it will change lanes when you put on the signal, but that is it.

Wiki FSD’s Earliest Adopters Still Waiting

Bummer. Actually I do love Tesla service in my area, but yeah, I understand it sucks in many locations. I've had great experiences in the few times I've wanted to have them do something. Hoping it gets better for you.

    What ? You are thanked.
  39. Silicon Desert

    Q2 deliveries...who's getting acceleration boost?

The wife said she would pony up a little extra money for a better "Chill" mode that is even more chill. She doesn't like the touchy accelerator the way it is. Guess she will have to get used to EV driving. As for me, I wouldn't pay a dime for it. I already had my fun in military jets. :)
  40. Silicon Desert

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

I'm guessing he has ignored you by now, based on his comment. The answer to your question is that the car isn't going to make turns in AP (without using FSD). However, if you use NAP by plugging in a destination then it does take the offramps at the proper time.
  41. Silicon Desert

Enhanced autopilot released for Australia and New Zealand

yes, I would go a bit further and even eliminate the word "Autopilot". I'd use other terminology like "Assisted Driving" or some other phrase that doesn't imply the car is going to do everything for me without monitoring from me.
  42. Silicon Desert

New FSD beta testers (June 2022) - First experiences

I didn't interpret his comment the way you did. The way I read it, he is saying the mistakes of the car missing the exit is not due to FSD computer software. It is due to the navigation data being fed to it, and that can be corrected without changing FSD software. Maybe I misunderstood as...

    Truck driver shortage is real

One of my high school friends drove long haul big rigs for 30 years and retired. Says he would never consider doing it under the current conditions.... meaning gas prices, high pressure to deliver fast and spend more time away from home, etc.
  44. Silicon Desert

Ev charging in the next 1-2 years

I don't worry about it because I will be dead. The younger generation will have to deal with it. I have to consult for a utility, so yes, it is becoming a problem. :)

And by the way OP, you live in one of my favorite parts of the world. Last time I was there, electric rates were really high.
