BC Specific : Software Upgrade coverage with ICBC

No plans to purchase any but also quite curious if/how ICBC deals with this type of thing. Would love to hear more if you find out.

Audio system changed to 13 speakers?

They're probably making up for it with processing--at least, that would be my guess. They are pretty crafty with software!

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

@Ruffus23 oh nice! Do you know where yet? Nice to have another option. Where we live, we're probably a little closer/quicker to the existing Langley/Surrey location but again options are nice.

Supercharger - Hope, BC - Klassen Road

On a side-note, wow gas is a lot cheaper outside of the GVRD! (Not that this applies to any of us of course, but I couldn't help notice the 219.9 while locally yesterday I think was around 10c more. EDIT: while 10c doesn't sound that huge, on a 60L tank that's still a $6 per fill difference...

    Rimetrix Laminars are here

@cusetownusa doubtful, since they are not from Tesla. If you switch to different Tesla-sourced rims, you can ask them to switch for you. But I doubt they'd have the images available for 3rd party options. I would love to be wrong, but this is my best guess.

    Rimetrix Laminars are here

Truth be told, they grew on me too. I quite disliked them when I was first seeing them on Model Y's in the neighborhood, but after we got ours (just over a year ago), I started to come around on the look. That said, I still prefer the look of the Apollo rims underneath, or the Laminars.

    Alternate gemini wheel covers

@pepperoni agreed, best is to remove them and put on one of the hub and lug covers. If only my partner liked the Apollo rims under Gemini, I would love to do that; alas, no luck.

    Key & Profile question

@marcparnes another technique that work (I forget if I've posted this already) is to have the passenger turn off bluetooth before approaching the car and then turn it back on once you're in and the car "started" (foot on the break pedal once to get the gear icons to show up on the screen). This...

@CFinVancouver oh, so you can afford to pay for the parking then! (You know, since the charge is free of, well, charge.)

So, add $1 to your charging cost ($2 if you need more than a moderate top-up).

Have you seen the price of petrol lately?

@Vancouver ClearBra ...nor in Tesla prices! Fresh round of price increases in the past 24 hours. The Model Y Long Range we bought last spring for $69,990 base (+paint and taxes) would now $82,990 (+paint and taxes). What the...???

    Dash swap

Oh I see it now, thanks. Although it wouldn't be my personal choice, it is unique! One thing though: in the font you've chosen, "Model Y" seems to read as "Madel Y"--at least to my eyes. To check my assumption, I used an online cursive generator and typed in "Model Y vs. Madel Y", and you can...

@faimui what are those new logos on the charging pad? Looks cool, just curious what they are.

Have you seen the price of petrol lately?

Yes, we have the highest gasoline prices in North America, at least as of a couple of days ago: Metro Vancouver gas prices are now the highest in North America EDIT: for any of our American friends following this thread, $2.099 CAD per Litre is the equivalent of $6.22 USD per US gallon...

@faimui do you often forget what brand of vehicle you own and are driving? Just curious. :)

    Supercharger - Coquitlam, BC

Oh yeah I wasn't thinking as far east as Burquitlam but yes Lougheed Mall is reasonably easy to access from Highway 1, Lougheed Hwy, and Barnett Hwy. Not bad, though yes a bit close to the Coquitlam SC--but this is obviously not unprecedented, like Guildford mall and Guildford Village for example.

@CFinVancouver yeah casino isn't ideal, and even worse if you have a gambling problem! But I guess for non-gamblers you can at least use the restroom and usually casinos have some dining or snack shops or something available. Yes agreed about Burnaby, it will be very interesting to see where...

All Weather Mats on top of carpet mats

If you can remove them and store them somewhere in your home, then later when you go to sell your car just pop out the all seasons and put in the factory-fresh carpet mats and your interior will look like new again. That's my suggestion, and the approach we have taken. But more importantly...

    Mud flaps & Model Y

@jcanoe the other factor that could be important to some is the visual symmetry. When Tesla first introduced theirs I hated that they were only on the front, but it has grown on me. In fact, we ended up getting a pair of the Tesla ones this past fall as the weather started deteriorating, and I...

    Supercharger - Burnaby, BC

@NSTM3 yeah, they did the same thing with what was originally a White Rock location and eventually turned into the South Surrey location, which eventually went live last week; but as you mention, this was after numerous postponements. On the other hand, they do seem to be picking up steam...

    Western Canada Superchargers

Sorry to quote myself, but it's too late to edit my previous post. Looks like the placeholder pin is still in place in the Central City (aka Whalley) area. I thought maybe that was a mislocated placeholder for Guildford Village, but I guess we really are getting a fourth later this year!
  27. srlawren

    Western Canada Superchargers

@Dutchie keep in mind that the pins are often in "placeholder" locations initially

    Western Canada Superchargers

Does anyone know anything about the Surrey, BC location targeting Q3 this year? We just had South Surrey go live a few days ago, and Guildford Village late last year in addition to the original Guildford Town Centre urban SC. Is there still another SC coming to Surrey? Once Burnaby, Delta...

Anyone try Splashes touchless car wash in the South Surrey Auto Mall?

Hey folks, Has anyone tried Splashes touchless car wash in the South Surrey Auto Mall? Particularly curious about people with Model Y or 2021+ Model 3 with the non-chrome window trim. I know some touchless car wash systems cause the trim to discolour, so I'd love to hear from anyone that has...

I'm not sure about the meter, but the transformer is in place! Edit: taken just moments ago. We had to stop at Save On for a couple of things anyway. 2nd edit: is that a meter on the side of the white unit in the background of the first photo?

Phone Key Disconnected Alert But Working Fine

@Suzach yes, this is actually how it is supposed to work. Connected means your phone is within Bluetooth range and connected as a key to your car. Disconnected means it isn't. You can still interact with the car in the app (turn on climate control, honk the horn, lock/unlock, etc) because the...

Audio system changed to 13 speakers?

@EVer Hopeful it's intermittent, but yes this speaker often has a negative impact on my enjoyment of the infotainment system. I suspect it would be a difficult and expensive thing to rectify, however. 🤣 ;)

    Primary driver question

@bodosom I don't think you understand the issue. The text you quoted from Tesla is correct: if you map a key to a profile, it will select that profile based on the key that is active. The issue is that when multiple keys are present (say you and your partner both walk up to the car with your...

    Primary driver question

@apacheguy I'm not aware of such a setting. Workaround would be to temporarily disable Bluetooth on the device you do not want to be used as the active key (with its associated profile). Not ideal, but it does work.
  42. srlawren

Why did Tesla remove option to disable regenerative braking?

@smogne41 wow nice discovery! This might be a great workaround for anyone interested in that control.

    Supercharger - South Surrey, BC

@YEG EV no worries! It's a little confusing because there's been ONE Supercharger for all of Surrey (a very large suburb of Vancouver) for several years now, an urban SC at Guildford Town Centre mall, but over the past several weeks Tesla has been building two new ones: the Guildford Village...

After 2021.36.5.5 update, app cannot run Google Maps on my Android phone

Adding to the list, I have a Pixel 6 now (obviously on Android 12) and get the error as well. I'm 99% sure it was working on my Android 11 OnePlus 7 just a few weeks ago.

    Supercharger - South Surrey, BC

Drove by (on 152 side, not into the mall) on my way to pick up Nandos for lunch and it looks fairly complete, at least from the road. I didn't see anyone working on anything. There's 3 of the big white transformer cabinets; if memory serves, each can server 4 v3 chargers so that makes sense...

    Gemini Wheel Cover plastic noise

It does indeed seem to go away on its own after several months. I don't know exactly when ours stopped. We've had it a bit over 7.5 months now and I would wager it's been at least a couple of months since I last heard it, maybe a little more.
