    First California Vehicle Registration Renewal

Yeah, I think CA realized they were losing out to a lot of potential taxes.

    Model X ski rack

The last thing I want is metal next to some expensive glass that is on backordered for who knows how long.

    First California Vehicle Registration Renewal

It makes total sense that EVs would pay an additional tax. We are not paying fuel taxes which go to road improvements.

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

A cheap civic will be cheaper than a 140k X. Not sure what the debate is.

Model X as a daily driver?

I looked into the S because it objectively had better efficiency. Subjectively, I think the S looks killer. Over time I've grown to really like the X. The space is great for road trips, and it's nice that I can tow a car around town instead of firing up my truck. Curious how it'll do once ski...

    Model X ski rack

I might design a ski rack before this winter. Most of these are pretty basic designs and don't require anything crazy like folding bike racks.

    That's absurd 😂😂😂

Model X Shudder Problem - Questions about DIY and recommendations

Half the kit is bolt on, the other half requires you to cut the OEM bolts.

2021 MX 13K miles need new front tires

Any big brand alignment shop will align to "spec". Whether they're at the extremes is kind of up to them (same with Tesla). Basically, Costco will be fine. Tesla is probably going to charge you quite a bit more. There's not much room for adjustment, so there's no need to go to a specialty shop...

2021 MX 13K miles need new front tires

Typically the X has premature rear tire wear from aggressive toe. You have outside tire wear (if I'm looking at the photos correctly). Bad toe is the most likely culprit, since it's unlikely you have extreme positive camber. Get an alignment and post the before and after sheet.

2021 MX 13K miles need new front tires

This is a bad alignment or premature suspension bushing failure. It has nothing to do with the drive unit or braking.

2021 MX 13K miles need new front tires

Makes me think Tesla isn't aligning cars from the factory.

    Super Charging with Bikes….

You just need a short hitch extender. Thankfully, my rack barely clears when it's folded up. Just a annoying when bikes are on because I like to gear up when sitting in the trunk. But, lately I've been throwing all my gear in the frunk since it smells bad lol

    Super Charging with Bikes….

Hey @djillusion , does your trunk open when you have bikes on with the 1up? Mine barely hits my bike, thankfully I caught it just in time.

The savings from daily driving a Cheapo car vs new Model 3 devaluation

Hey, if we're trying to maximize our savings maybe it's time for your kids to walk everywhere. Back in my day, I walked downhill both ways.

    Hmm, I'm on MCU2 but AP1.

Induction or Uberturbine Wheels on Model X

Some type of testing or certification that you could try to cross reference. Sometimes they show a load rating. At least that's what I learned about for my aftermarket wheels.
  19. ngng

My super charger rate reduced from 130kW to 58kW

I guess Tesla stopped updating the older MX. That's first time I've seen the supercharger graphic!

Induction or Uberturbine Wheels on Model X

Are there any markings on the back of the wheel?

Rear Camber Adjust Link DIY Possible, But Requires More Work Than It Appears On Paper

That's within spec. Mfgs like to add rear camber to performance cars to drivers don't kill themselves. It is quite a bit of camber though, I think I ran a race in my Spec Miata with -1.5 😂
  22. ngng

Rear Camber Adjust Link DIY Possible, But Requires More Work Than It Appears On Paper

I like a smidge of toe for turn in, but 0 is fine. Notice the almost 0.25 degrees in the rear. That's huge. My car is aligned in low, and the approx. -2 degree camber isn't a ton. It will wear the tires prematurely, but nothing like the toe.
  23. ngng

Rear Camber Adjust Link DIY Possible, But Requires More Work Than It Appears On Paper

There is a small amount of adjustment, but then "approved" factory alignment is a football fjeld in terms of alignment. I'll post my baseline when I'm at my computer. Replacing the toe links requires cutting the old ones out 😂
  24. ngng

Rear Camber Adjust Link DIY Possible, But Requires More Work Than It Appears On Paper

Toe will wear a tire faster than camber. Factory spec toe is really aggressive.

Model S and X to get 4680 batteries. I told my wife my Plaid won't be my last car and this is one of those reasons.

I was thinking the same thing. No reason to cannibalize their sales.

    MX Plaid Widebody build

Looks great. But damn, fiberglass fenders. You are much braver than I am! Had a car drop something on the freeway and it cracked my OEM plastic fender :(

Were you charging at Santana Row today?

    Towing with Lane Keeper

Actually, now that I think about it. Plugging in doesn't matter because you can plug in a bike rack with lights and still use AP features.
  31. ngng

    Towing with Lane Keeper

I did too but I was towing and the car didn't pick up the unloaded trailer. I also didn't pay for the towing package. Not sure if that played a role.
  32. ngng

    Towing with Lane Keeper

Sometimes you get lucky and the software doesn't detect a trailer and it'll work 🤣

Model X owners - what other vehicles did you consider?

Oh, I feel dumb. I had always thought that was a model from Kia 🤣 But, I've seen those and it makes sense.

What are MX Plaids realistically selling for?

Ah yeah, must have been 21. The current MY is terrible.

    Charging/Battery Question

Middle range is always better. That being said I always charge to 90%

Show off your aftermarket Model X wheels...

That looks killer. Ah yeah, guess those 8.5"s I'm running won't fit! Can you run the fender flares without the bumper/sideskirt parts? Or do you need the rest of the kit for it all to blend?

21+ Refresh Radar Detector Hardwired installation

Alternatively you can pop the right side center console and tap the same aux wire that runs to the back. Then you can just run wire up the front A pillars, up to the headliner, and down the center channel.

What are MX Plaids realistically selling for?

What year do you have? The 20 or 21 (forget which year exactly) model we tested was great, the most recent one did not work at all. There's nothing like a Porsche. Fast acceleration is fun and all, but it's nothing like actually driving a car.
  39. ngng

What are MX Plaids realistically selling for?

That's kind of how I felt when we were looking at Q5s and saw the Etron. We test drove pretty much all of the crossover SUVs, including some that were not comparable (X3, the small MB SUV whatever it was). Top of the list were the Q5, Etron, XC60. Lexus took the top spot for ride quality, but...

Model X owners - what other vehicles did you consider?

I'm actually very impressed with Hyundai (I think the new Ionq looks great). They entered the market with reliable econboxes and now they're selling cars to compete with luxury brands. It wouldn't surprise me if they spun off a luxury brand in the future. Looks like they took a page out of the...

    19" Wheels for 2022 Model X refresh?

I've never had any bent Tesla wheels myself but I've seen plenty come through the shop though.

Best hitch mounted bike rack (for mountain bikes) for Model X refresh?

Oh yeah, that's a good point. I've seen some chargers with signs right behind the parking spot which would cause problems.

2016 Model X Air Suspension "fun"

The toolbox side is outta my wheelhouse, sorry! But, please report back with your findings.
  44. ngng

Best hitch mounted bike rack (for mountain bikes) for Model X refresh?

I can charge with my bike on my rack with no issues. No need to swing or unload.
  45. ngng

Best hitch mounted bike rack (for mountain bikes) for Model X refresh?

1up, Kuat. All hitches are going to beep when you're backing up. You can disable the backup noise though. I don't know if you can open the tailgate with the 1up, but I can with my Kuat.
  46. ngng

Would you buy the N2itive Alignment kit for your Model X to fix shudder and tire wear?

No idea if about the links and EAP/FSD, but I do know Tesla aligns in low and you can drive in very low. Beyond that, I'm nit sure.
  47. ngng

Show off your aftermarket Model X wheels...

Looks great! Any shots of the back to see the width of the flares? How much wider are those flares, fitment wise? My front fender flare is cracked and my hamster wheel is turning...

    software update 2022.16.1.1

That was my understanding as well. A majority of the time regen is going to work like it always has. The brake blending would only apply at high SOC or if your battery was cold. In those situations, you would be applying brakes anyways.

    software update 2022.16.1.1

I can't leave. Don't want to wear down my brakes!
