CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

Does the governor have veto power over the CAPUC? If so I would imagine that the PV/PS industry is going to be putting a lot of pressure on him to make this more palatable if CA is planning on making their energy and environmental goals, not to speak about revenue etc.

Anyone regret switching to electric heating?

I have been using heat pumps on two different homes since 1980. Prior to my latest set I basically hated them and was convinced the technology was terrible, especially if you lived in any area that got below 45*F and had relative humidity > 25%. Plus they were so loud they drove me up the wall...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

You can fix this: Have Tesla add a CT to this circuit and bundle it with the house CT. I have it this way and the PWs will feed the charger too (only when grid connected). Ask me how I know. (because I screwed up the other day and forgot to reset my charger to timed charge after a trip. The car...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Mine is still set to 10 as my VPP application was rejected. Supposedly the numbers I entered didn't jive so I am back in the pending pool. Anyway mine has exceeded 10 kW on a number of occasions when (solar - house load) was added to the 10 kW (i.e. 14.5 kW). Mine can slow too. The most EE max...

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

Mine never does this. It can occasionally discharge a little bit in partial peak just before peak on a Friday confident that it really won't need much to fill the PWs on Sat (which is mostly off peak).

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

After a week mine came back as rejected because it said my numbers did not match with my powerwalls? I was able to re-apply (99% sure I put in the correct numbers first time), so we'll see what the next week brings. (I pulled the numbers from the B/W bill and they were the same as what is on...

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

I wish. My peak is buy is 60 cents so I set the sell to 57 cents. Same on all my other periods. I made the sell price 3 cents less than the buy.

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

I just used the WAG (3 cent delta) price for three reasons: The one way losses are already factored into the storage costs (ie what you put in is not what is stored) The loss as a $ standpoint is sort of weird since it's really a kWh loss but I see what you are doing with TOU. I witnessed my...

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

My high for June was 45.7 kWh. Average for me is not really relevant because there were a lot of days with cloud cover to some extent. And now the heat has brought the average highs down to 43.5 kWh. I do have some early morning and late afternoon shading that on 1/2 the panels which probably...

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

3/4 of mine are solar roofs. I wonder if they are not as efficient as panels? Also one is on a 45* roof which is worse during the prime production months. Oh well. I am sure the quality of my power is better. 🙂

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

Wow. That is impressive. I have three independent systems done years apart and they mostly put out about the same power per square foot, with the exception of the one that has some panels NW. Now I am jealous. :(
  13. aesculus

Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please!

FWIW I have a 10.5 kW system and all panels are basically S with 2.5 kW NW. 45 kWh is about as good as it gets. Last June I did have 3 days that got 48, but that was rare. While the NW panels do better obviously during the summer months, they heat just about negates their input. My peak...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

I think there is a lot to watch here, especially for us that zero out (or now with EE), are already negative during peak periods, when these events are almost always going to be called. And in Tesla's case, the term VPP is kind of a misnomer. Yes you could just reduce your power during these...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

What? No credit for me? 🙂 I thought it was the sum of exports (solar + PWs) but I must admit I have not chased that down yet. But I suspect you are correct in assuming it's total solar (and perhaps any grid power put into the PWs). Like I said above. I will try to take a swag at this and see...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Oh. OK. In my case it's pretty simple. I mostly (always?) export only during peak period. That is my biggest payback period by far. There are a few exceptions but they are rounding errors. I suppose net generators or people with lots of solar that also spill over into partial peak regularly...

Just for the heck it: How does your calcs align with the Impact value Tesla calculates in the app? It appears to be the "sold back" value, and not the total net costs/payment. I did not see a way to download it, but if you did it month by month it might not be too bad manually. I am coming up...

Yeah. They don't have an EV1A, but that was easy to modify the EV2 tables. And I brought down the sell numbers to reflect NBCs too. Set for another test today with reserve set at 40% from 50%, but had a power outage yesterday so my test was moot.

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Just a short observation on my Export Everything test. The PWs drained slowly to my reserve (50%) at the end of peak which is great. This AM they were at 49% which is acceptable from the 10 hour time difference and temp difference. So I thought I would try to be more aggressive today and put...

    Time Based Control Getting Smarter?
