    Safety Score

My safety score disappeared after getting 10.2, and nothing I’ve tried has brought it back. I’m kind of glad I can’t see my safety score, though, as I’m sure it’s gone way down, partially because I’ve had to take over and slam the brakes several times, and partially because I’ve stopped driving...

Safety Score not showing up in app? It could be this.

I can’t seem to get my safety score back, and I’d really like to see it, after playing around with 10.2 for a couple days. I’ve had a few disengagements where I had to immediately brake, which I know would’ve previously counted against me as hard braking. Tried force quitting the app, signing...

Thanks! I rounded up. I had four 99 days, one 98 day, and seven 100 days. I ended up with 0.2% hard braking and 2.5% unsafe following.

Autopilot blinded, disengaged by sun on interstate

Happens to me all too often, as my commuting times and east-west travel seems to set me up for twice daily blinding. In fact, I started this thread a while back, to discuss what Tesla might need to do to solve this problem: Blinded by the sun I’m hoping they might be able to do some software...

MS/MX style aftermarket rear chrome trim for Model 3

I’ve bought some stuff off Etsy, and didn’t have any issues, but I think it’s an e-commerce marketplace, so you’re actually buying from individual sellers. So your experience may be as good or bad as that particular seller. That rear emblem looks nice. As for me, I’m still really happy with...

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

Yeah, I’ve watched a ton of FSD beta videos, but haven’t seen one that tests that scenario yet — anyone know if FSD 5 avoids potholes?

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

I’m hoping when V11 finally comes, the FSD visualizations will still depict everything the cameras see. I think it would be reassuring to know the car sees the barrier and the upcoming turns ahead of time.

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

Ah, that’s good to know it was on AP2, thanks for the clarification. I googled ‘Jersey barrier’ and see that most of those seem to have a very low flared out base, so I can imagine how that would only contact the tire. Our zipper barrier has a much taller and flatter base, so I’m not sure it...

Question Regarding AP vs FSD vs Beta FSD

Prior to COVID, when my commute home was largely stop and go, I could go for well over a minute without a nag, so it seemed to be partially dependent on velocity (or maybe the timer resets every time the car comes to a halt?). Not sure if that’s still the case, since COVID has temporarily fixed...

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

Oh man, this is exactly what I worry about. The car is so close to that barrier, that if it freaked out, even for a split second, it might be hard to manually correct. Glad your car wasn’t damaged by the Jersey barrier. Amazing that it could make contact with anything at speed, and not suffer...

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

My daily commute includes a zipper lane, which has little-to-no left-sided shoulder, and is right up against mobile concrete dividers (the zipper), which feel like they’re about 2 feet from my driver side. I’m sure they’re probably actually farther away, but at 60-70 mph (prevailing speed of...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

Hadn’t really considered CO2 buildup being significant during my 40ish minute commute, but I guess it makes sense that could happen in a car that is fairly airtight. So for the past few days, I’ve been trying to get in the habit of turning recirc on only when I approach stanky areas. Doing...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

Hmmm, then maybe it IS related to going into entertainment mode? It seems like when you enter that mode, it momentarily affects the climate control. I wonder if it’s like restarting the AC, so it “loses” your preference, and allows the car to once again decide when it thinks it should be off...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

I’m guessing it’s just a firmware bug that will eventually be squashed, but I’m surprised more people aren’t complaining about this. I always do the bug report thing whenever it happens, but I’ve heard that Tesla doesn’t necessarily see those, unless you take your car in and they actively search...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

I’m currently on 2020.40.8, but this started one or two firmware updates ago: On my commute, there are a couple of areas that are notoriously stinky, so I keep recirculation turned on all the time. Prior to a recent update, this wasn’t a problem; the HVAC stayed in recirculate. Lately, it seems...

    Upgrade to FSD before increase?

All the Model 3/Y needs is an IR light source to see at night and through sunglasses. This could easily be added, either as a mod, or an upgrade. George Hotz (most recently on the Lex Fridman podcast) believes the model 3 camera is probably sufficient to do acceptable driver monitoring.

Custom Made Cooling Fans for Wireless Charging Pad

Will be interesting to see if they will be able to make this compatible with the new MagSafe iPhones. Anyway, since Apple didn’t add 120hz to the iPhone 12, I’m going to skip this one and wait for the 13. Gives me another year, at least, with my current setup.

Wallbox Quasar: seems like a great power backup option

I have a 2013 Leaf that I figure will be worthless someday (unless Nissan or a third party starts selling reconditioned packs in the US). This would be an awesome way to repurpose it, once it can no longer meet my commuting needs. Just wonder if it could be integrated into my existing Powerwall...

Electrek reports that Tesla to offer bird's eye view with FSD

Here’s the Peugeot system in action. Fast forward to 12:55. I’d definitely take this over nothing. Birdseye view is the only thing my leaf does better than my model 3, as my OCD can’t stand parking crooked between the lines!

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Too bad, it sounds like radar didn’t save him in this case. Wonder if automatic emergency braking slowed the car before collision? Glad you’re safe, OP. Sorry about the car.

    Filling tires using 12v

I just checked, and my viair tops out at 15 amps. If Tesla rates the 12v at 10-16 amps, it should be ok to use, right? If it trips the car’s circuit breaker, anyone know how long it takes to reset?
  36. fseir

    Filling tires using 12v

Lol, I did exactly this with a viair compressor last night, and didn’t think twice about it. My car still got me to work this morning, so knock on wood I didn’t damage my brand new 12v! Maybe next time I’ll try the bike pump instead.

12v battery issue, Tesla unsatisfactory response

In my case, roadside service tried connecting a host battery to my dead battery, and it did nothing. On another 12V thread, @smatthew speculated that one of the cells in my 12V had shorted out (based on the strong sulfur odor), and the host battery couldn’t overcome the added resistance of the...

Yikes! Error Message: Unable to Drive/Pull Over Safely

This thankfully hasn’t happened to me (yet), but I want to be ready in case it ever does. Based on your post, it sounds like you might get a few minutes (seconds?) of reaction time after DI_a137 to get to a safe spot? And did you experience any warning symptoms like @mojoe reported, with some...

HECO: CGS+ is a total scam

You should be OK, but I'm curious how NEM+ works. You have two solar systems, with the newer one not connected to the grid. Do both systems run simultaneously, so that the newer one is charging a powerwall, while the older one powers your home? And then what happens when the powerwall is full...

HECO: CGS+ is a total scam

Anyone else enrolled in CGS+? I feel like HECO intentionally makes these solar programs as complicated as possible, so the consumer doesn’t see how they’re getting ripped off. Of course, everyone knows what a great deal net metering was for consumers, and now HECO is taking it out on new solar...

    Autopilot consistency and accuracy...

I‘ll second that. Not sure how prevalent the problem is, but I’ve heard of people losing thumbs from airbag deployments. Resting your wrists on the center of the wheel could be even worse, if you can’t get them out of the way in time. Air Bags Are Hazardous To Your Thumbs @ Top Speed

    Autopilot consistency and accuracy...

I really wish Tesla would utilize the cabin selfie cam for driver monitoring, similar to comma.ai and super cruise, but as an augmentation to wheel torque. Most of the situations described above, other than phantom braking, would naturally lead to an attentive driver putting their hands back on...

12v battery must be replaced soon

You’re lucky to have gotten the warning. My car was also delivered at the end of March 2018, with a vin in the 9000s, and 12,000 miles. How long did the 12V last on your first Tesla?

    Dead 12v Questions

Mobile service swapped out my 12V today, so after 5 days with a bricked car, it’s nice to have it back. I think I could live with having to replace the 12V every 2 years or so, if I could count on a warning that the battery is about to die, and it’s time to make an appointment. Based on this...

12v battery must be replaced soon

The sulfur odor was the first clue something was wrong with my car. It smelled like a propane leak in my garage, and the Tesla was the LAST thing I thought to check, because why would my electric vehicle smell like a catalytic converter?? But sure enough, at 29 months and 12,000 miles, my car...

    Dead 12v Questions

Guess another question, is why all of these 12V batteries are failing so soon? The 12V in my leaf lasted 6 years. I was lucky that my model 3 bricked inside of my garage, especially since two of the windows are part way down and can’t be raised.

Awesome, that’s very reassuring. Thanks! And it was lucky that I was able to still open the passenger door and trunk because of this variation in voltage threshold.

    Dead 12v Questions

I swear reading this thread jinxed me, lol! Walked into my garage last night and noticed a strong smell of sulfur. Thought it was some butane camping stove canisters leaking, so I moved them outside, but the odor didn’t clear, and after a little while, figured out it was coming from the car...
