    20” Induction disaster

I’ve had my claim accepted. £75 for three alloys. The quote is £100 per wheel. I have one claim left this year - 8 claims left. I’m hoping I’m more careful. The policy was £182. So I’m still up.

The front left I did in month one. The rear left and front right (twice) were not me. my excuse is that I used the drive a 4x4 so didn’t need to worry about, anything. I’m researching higher profile tyres…

    20” Induction disaster

I’ve had a Ford dings and dents coverage £400. It was really good and absolved me from a lot more than what was acceptable damage for a three year lease. I didn’t bother with a third party policy and based on your post I’m glad that I didn’t! I did buy alloy wheel damage coverage £360. I’ve...

Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I managed to speak to a helpful chap at Octopus. If you have an import and separate export meter you can add Agile to IO. If not you can add their fixed export tariff. I didn’t ask about GO. I need to research the export meter part as the solar installer told us that he had fitted a device...

Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I’ve switched to IO as of today but I’m struggling to work out if they’ll pay SEG as I have Solar panels. I read that I can’t be on Octopus Go and export to the grid but I can’t find if that’s the same for IO. I’ve Googled and not found anything. Does anyone know if IO supports SEG?

Finally took a big gulp out of the Kool Aid

There are few driving car site reviewers that would disagree with you on the Tesla M3/M3P. Wink😉 I’ve come from performance cars to the MY. It can be a lot of fun but does gets out of shape quickly when being thrown hard into twisties in west coast Scotland. I would love to have a ‘drift’ mode...

    v11 software update SUCKS

I leave the Aircon on 22c and auto so I suppose that’s why I don’t need to look at the screen. The only time that I’ve had fogging is when I’ve turned it off.

    v11 software update SUCKS

That’s fair, I moved energy short cut to the bottom bar as occasionally I like to push how far I can - or shouldn’t go! I’m assuming it’s still there but I’ve seen to software updates in the past week so it may have gone somewhere else.

    v11 software update SUCKS

I barely look at the screen other than the speed. I set the destination (if needed) and that’s it. I don’t even touch Spotify as I hate the UI and due to years of curating playlists on iTunes. I couldn’t give an ass about energy usage even on long trips. Am I missing something exciting where I...

First no charger, now no key fob, what's next??

If it makes a difference. I didn’t think your opinion was ‘forced’ on me. Possibly because I could choose to not read your right up. As an owner of a mobile charging cable that I’ve never used I may be in the minority though. 😉

Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Tesla and Octopus are partnered with their Tesla battery. I doubt Tesla would have such a tight partnership and then not allow Octopus to access their API. Based on my experience of buying a Tesla. No one tells the same story at Tesla. E.g., the MY doesn’t come with mudflat but does have a...

What will happen to current owners once Tesla drops the price of new Y's?

EMEA and the U.K. are banning fossil fuel cars. Demand for EVs is not going away anytime soon. There isn’t enough Lithium production in the world to meet the current demand for BEVs. I’m not worried about it and let’s face it. We know a cars value drops as soon as we buy one and drive it away...

New to Tesla - lost 5% in 9 miles

Electric motors are far more efficient than fossil fuel engines in converting energy. So we notice the drop in range depending on internal and external conditions. With fossil fuel engines we don’t notice a drip of a few mile per gallon as the engines are far less efficient to begin with.

What is considered a "long trip" when considering charging to 100%?

Mine does that occasionally. There is a thread that explains it somewhere. I have mine set to 60% SoC. It charges to 60% - I plug in after every trip - and sometimes it drops to 59-58% over 12+ hours. It will then charge up again to 60% if I don’t use it. I doubt they’ve set it to constantly...

What is considered a "long trip" when considering charging to 100%?

I’ve charged to 100% twice since picking the car up in March 2022. For a 500 mile journey I charge to 90-95%. We found that leaving with 100% the first 5% disappeared really fast, maybe 15mins into the journey. Then it ‘sipped’ at the battery. 🤷🏻 I suppose as there’s no regen? However, I live...

    Selling your existing car

Exactly, they made a profit at the end of the day which is fair in my opinion and I was happy. That’s the best way of looking at it. The offer isn’t legally binding. So you could refuse and then put it on Motorway. I don’t think it’s a problem to put it on both. The second hand prices are a...

    Selling your existing car

Carwow valued my car at £32,900 so I put a figure of £31,500 as the lowest bid I would accept. I’m guessing the dealer/buyer doesn’t see it and I was offered £32,300. I paid £30,000 for the car 18-months earlier, put 15k miles on it some finance outstanding, and it had some scratches/scuffs...

Anyone else really tempted to just go and sit in their car right now?

Keep the curtains closed where the sun shines in and open them as it passes. Leave them closed when you wake up for it to be effective and don’t open windows. When I lived in Arizona our friends told us to keep all the blinds closed where the sun was shining through, even when we had Aircon...

    Selling your existing car

I sold my car on Carwow in under an hour. No hassle. I was going to use Motorway but I already had an account set up and I could enter the lowest price I would accept. The dealer bid more so I accepted.

Hearing super conflicting advice about battery charging levels

I personally don’t worry about the SoC. We keep it around 60% for daily use and 95% for long trips once every three/four months. We don’t worry about degradation as we’ll sell/trade the car before the warranty expires. If it drops some range it wouldn’t make a difference for 90% of our driving...

Is there anyway to force ONLY off-peak charging?

I don’t worry about mine sitting at 100% for a few hours. It’s when it’s constantly sat at 100%SOC that I strictly avoid.
  30. Undecided_2

Is there anyway to force ONLY off-peak charging?

How do you stop it from charging if it’s not got to the set %SOC? My continues on past off peak. I’ve played around and I can set a start but not a hard stop if it’s not reached the % SOC. Example: I come home at 1am and I plug it in and there’s only 3 hours of off peak left. I want it to stop...

    Naughty Tesla WWYD?

It’s similar to a SMOG test in Cali. Although far harder to pass as they check everything linked to safety. In the U.K. you need one after the car is 3-years old and then every 12-months. The penalties can be harsh if you don’t have one on the vehicle when stopped by the police. It’s almost...

    Naughty Tesla WWYD?

If you haven’t returned the car I would make them collect it. It’s out of order to put you at risk of prosecution ’if’ the Police wanted to enforce the law. You could report it if they refuse to apologise and possibly get them inspected. That’ll force them to acknowledge it!
  33. Undecided_2

    Naughty Tesla WWYD?

i didn’t see that in your post. The below is from the Police and not hearsay or rumour. I wouldn’t drive the car. It’s the drivers responsibility to ensure the car is road legal. There are no exceptions and it’s down to the Police officer whether to enforce. Police Officer: Any driver who...

    20” Induction disaster

I was replying to the cost of the wheel repair. It’s a £25 access on my policy and it’s capped at £100 per wheel or £150 towards a new wheel. I’ve seen quotes of £100 for the damage on each wheel so £25 excess saves me £175. Or I wait and get all four repaired for a £25 excess.

I’m not expecting it until next year. The solar is being install in a few weeks and the PW is part of the order so the VAT is lower. I was thinking of switching battery make but I want to .10-.12p Kw Tesla energy plan as our energy bill will be considerably cheaper.
