    Slacker radio: song skips MCU2

Seems to have been solved for me. For whatever reason I haven’t experienced this in a long time. TuneIn however still makes me crazy. But it is most certainly a Tunein issue not Tesla

Reduced front Radar Visibility & No visualization

Of course cars without are using pure vision. Tesla would like you to believe however that radar cars are not using it at all. And we know that’s not the case. The code when using FSD on highway and rural roads is rerefencing it in some manner. It obviously disables AP all together when the...

See this tweet from Green. Evidence shows otherwise.

Reduced front Radar Visibility & No visualization

I believe Tesla is still utilizing radar to some degree in cars equipped with it regardless of what they claim. Even in the beta FSD there is some evidence out there to show this.

Reduced front Radar Visibility & No visualization

Not positive but it would seem the sensor is not showing the distance from objects back to sensor itself but rather is calibrated to be show the distance to the front bumper in the middle. Which probably is close to 22” rather than the 24 measured back to the sensor itself. regardless I dont...

My used 2013 P85 came with unlimited supercharging

This is interesting to me. I bought my S in December 2017 with unlimited free Supercharging and have always thought it would be a nice selling feature someday (same as the FSD I paid for ) but I keep hearing more and more that may not be the case. really sucks if that’s true.

2017 Model S (facelift) cabin filter questions

It’s a really good quality filter although it’s a bit more expensive than the SC one. My time was worth the extra cost.

2017 Model S (facelift) cabin filter questions

They are cheap and easy to find on Amazon. I know the SC has them cheap also, but door to door delivered is hard to beat. Saves me a half hour drive and waiting in the lobby for help at a very busy SC.

Can I DIY upgrade to Gen 3 door handles?

You absolutely can do this. It’s not super difficult. But you need some patience and a few tips from the forums here and a YouTube video or two. your first one might be. Bit slow and then you will get better and go faster for each one. the service center can help with the final calibration for...

    2018 Model S Gen 3 door handle

I think mine was a total of 20 bucks. The invoice shows them checking all the tire pressures and such and then they used the term general closures I think it was just a formal way to get the car checked in under something so they could do it.

What do you guys think my 2017 Model S 75D FSD HW3 MCU2 is worth today?

Can you not just change the email and password on the account (and change CC on file) with the Tesla account and hand them the car? if it’s out of warranty anyway then you don’t need the details to be correct do you? Am I being naïve or is it not quite that simple?

Is that what he said? Didn’t see anything close to that in his statement.

    Service options

Ok. Well I understand some folks just prefer not to DIY. It’s about 10 20 minutes to change the air filter or less, and check the brake fluids and coolant levels. Wipers another 5 minutes. If there was a trusted mechanic of yours you’ve used before or a friend that’s handy it would be a good...

    Service options

I suggest not doing the annual maintenance and just changing the cabin AC filter and checking brake fluid on your own. They really aren’t going to do anything that matters. Oh and a new set of wipers 😀

Need advice on 2020 MSLR tire replacement

You’ll probably get many different suggestions here soon, but I personally will only continue to use the Primacy MXM4s. I just love the quiet smooth ride and the longevity of the tire itself. It’s never let me down for many years and different cars.

Paragon Model S two-piece Rotors installed

Sorry. Should have spelled it out. WHPM Wh/mi or watt hour per mile. The average energy being used number displayed when we drive on the energy display. Average over 5/15/30 last miles. I was curious if the reduction in weight from the spinning mass had any effect on this. I doubt it, but...

Door handles don't present on touch only

It’s actually not all generations. I have a late 2017 and mine are Gen 3 with the Hall effect sensor. I just finished repairing mine. they are way simpler to deal with and much more reliable (lasted me 73K miles and over 4years) my paddle gear broke. Seems to always be the weak link in the...

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

That must be it. I had been confused and uncertain of being able to rebuild the original assy when I couldnt get the sensor off, so I chickened out and purchased the entire assy to replace. After putting in the new one I started playing around with the original one and figured it out. I went...

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

@y2khd thats great. I have since learned the sensor is relatively simple to get off. Thanks to another forum member I was told to look closely at the sensor it has a tiny arrow printed on the side. If you turn the sensor opposite of the arrow(to remove) the sensor will release and you can...

    2018 Model S Gen 3 door handle

I just replaced my Gen 3 door assy. same sort of issue, I am having to go to SC to get the door handles calibrated. I’m not sure there is any other way.

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

On another note I started rebuilding the original door assy and figured out the hall sensor. I rebuilt it all back together woth a new paddle gear. I’m sure it would work perfect now if I ever need it. I have figured out the details now and could do this much faster next time. Minus this whole...

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

So I first attended to change the paddle gear but finally gave up when I kept running into problems getting the hall sensor magnet off without breaking it. And the SC said “it’s not possible” 😡 So purchased the entire Gen 3 module and put it in. Maybe that’s why I need the recalibration...

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

But at least I learned a lot and have some extra parts so next time I think I can get it done quicker and just pay Service to program the handle

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

I finally got this darn thing back together and I wish I had just paid the mobile service it was a lot harder with the GEN three than I ever suspected and now I have to go to the service center to have them reprogram the handle anyway

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

That helps thank you. I see the tiny arrow now. Doesn’t want to move still but maybe a bit more “persuasion”
  27. quickstrike12

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

I said to heck with it and purchased a new entire assembly for a couple hundred bucks now I’m being told it may need a software update To make it work correctly. But I am confused if this is a normal software update or something they must do with a laptop hooked directly to the car?

Vendor Door Handle Replacement Parts/Rebuild Services

@Dreaminofsurf did you ever manage to get the paddle gear changed in the Gen 3 version you have? I am struggling to see how I can get the gear on the shaft because of the way the new Hall effect sensor is on the end of the shaft. any help is appreciated
  29. quickstrike12

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

I’ve seen plenty of videos and how to for the early versions. But never a Gen 3 with the hall effect sensor. I got as far as sliding the shaft out to put the new gear on and realized it won’t slide out because the hall sensor is attached at the end, and there appears to be no way to remove it...

How long is the warranty on the 12V battery?

Ok. All true. Just wanted to point out its not a simple comparison to what many of us grew up with on our ICE cars and the way they perform and act. I personally have gotten a couple years out for the first one and now going on 3 with the new one. But I’m in texas climate and it probably...

How long is the warranty on the 12V battery?

Just wanted to remind everyone while discussing the 12V battery. It’s NOT a lead acid battery so it can’t be compared to your older ICE car batteries in the way it handles heat, cold, charging times and resistance and many other factors. Even if it was the same the charging strategy is very...

Controls charge page displayed at entry now in V11?

V11 Anyone know why the charge settings page under “controls” is displayed now every morning? It’s a minor annoyance now that I have to close it each morning after backing out. The car charges the night before and finish’s like always but it didn’t used to have that screen displayed after...

    Browser Crashing

Probably just voodoo magic but mine was crashing like this every single time i started it and tried to load a page. Fully upgraded 2017 S not showing FSD Visualization

Looks correct to me. there is an option for “full screen” visualization. It seems to just widen the view a little to the left and right but doesn’t really seem to be helpful. in fact when I do that it drops my music and energy off the sides and doesn’t always come back on its own.
  37. quickstrike12

Is the Web browser supposed to suck?

The browser does suck and so I use it infrequently. But..for those who have it just keep crashing when trying to load…..if you will delete all of the navigation location history (one by one) and then do a reboot…… this will usually solve that and make the browser just back to suck level. Dont...

    Model S 75 Phone as a key

Relying on the phone to open and start my S has bitten me in the ass twice recently in dead or no coverage area cell service. just too risky for me to do reliably. 2017 AP 2.5 MS, will it need camera upgrades?

So I have a later 2017 model S with the 2.5 cameras. FSD beta works fine without interior cameras. I have been using it for a few weeks now.

please recommend quality all season 19" for S.

for me I’ll always keep going back to my Michelin Primacy MXM4s. good all season, last a long time, and great quiet ride which is my most important consideration.

Safety Score after initial 7 days

I completely agree with you. I think this isn’t the way Tesla originally envisioned this going down, but in light of the recent comments from regulator, investigations and of course the articles written and some bad press, I believe they are in a precarious position and need to do this slowly...

How long is the warranty on the 12V battery?

OP... im actually surprised you got 4 years out of it to begin with. Almost would have been better to get 3 and Almost 4 years from it. they changed mine in the driveway at home last year a couple months over warranty and didn’t charge me. i would bet you will get it done without a charge.

Safety Score - Probably Will Fail!

One NOT so quick way to raise your score a few points is to go on a long road trip. 4 to 5 hundred miles coupled to AP on highway will certainly bring it up I’ve learned. Lots of miles with on AP to “dilute“ the hits you have taken in daily driving traffic etc..... the more miles the less...

Buzzing noise from one speaker in liftgate (Model S 2016 MCU2/AP3)

    Autopilot basic

Partially related here, and would not have stopped the accident in this case, but seems I read somewhere a couple years back that the parking sensors (or maybe cameras) caused the accelerator pedal to not allow full power when something was being sensed very close to the front of the car. I...

HOW TO: Replace Headlights in Refresh (2016+) Model S

@nomis_nehc no I stopped using range mode a couple years ago. Even on longer road trips. Found it to be mostly useless (to me). it’s funny....I pull up to store fronts all the time and find myself specifically looking at the cars reflection in the glass and noting the lights. I keep...
