EV6 GT gets track mode out of the box and yet the Y still doesn't....

Yeah but the absolute bare minimum you need is Track Mode. Just can’t make a track car without it for Model Y/3.

EV6 GT gets track mode out of the box and yet the Y still doesn't....

Without track mode, the car will cut power pretty quickly. It cut power on my car on canyon runs on hot days pretty quickly. When I have track mode on, definitely can go longer and can monitor your heat levels on the car real time. Its a neat feature and I'm sure would actually serve Model Y...

EV6 GT gets track mode out of the box and yet the Y still doesn't....

The EV6 ride is very nice. It absorbs bumps much much better than the Model Y/3. I'd be wary of the performance version though as the suspension will need to be tuned much more aggressively to handle that much horsepower. Its closer to the Model Y than the 3 in terms of space and ride height...

EV6 GT gets track mode out of the box and yet the Y still doesn't....

The Plaid battery system as a whole is definitely more advanced than what the Model 3/Y use now (exc 4680). It has better cooling and faster charge rates so they've made significant upgrades. 18650 is a form factor...can't judge the tech behind it just because that form factor was used first.

Hit a pothole and got 2 flats on my Model 3 Performance

I have 18s now and hit some pretty big potholes that would have obliterated my 20s. Didn't do a thing to the 18s 😁 Love that sidewall

PPF Your Tesla NOW - I Waited Far Too Long

I'd be worried about it lifting the PPF. Maybe I'm just being paranoid...

PPF Your Tesla NOW - I Waited Far Too Long

Isn't that the point of the PPF? If you get it, car maintenance is SO EASY. Go to a car wash bay, spray and wash quickly then leave. Don't have to care about the 2 bucket method or causing micro-scratches or waxing / sealant etc...

PPF Your Tesla NOW - I Waited Far Too Long

I got one of the new PPFs with ceramic embedded in the film. We'll see how well it does over time. Even on a dusty car with PPF, the duster won't do any damage. Its just to keep it looking cleaner for longer as California dust will cake your car in a day if left outside. I'm also not afraid...

PPF Your Tesla NOW - I Waited Far Too Long

I don't like the "i could always repaint for the same price" argument. I think PPF offers far more benefit because you have a pristine car through your ownership. You can even California duster the car all over because it self heals and can go a lot longer between washes.

PPF Your Tesla NOW - I Waited Far Too Long

I put ceramic on my wife's last car and kept it coated with a sealant. Didn't do a thing for scratches and the kids backpacks leaving micro scratches on the car. Ceramic makes the car shiny and easier to clean...pretty worthless for real protection. This time, I PPFed the whole damn car and...

    Toyota bZ4X SUV Concept

It takes 33 minutes for 10-80% in the link. I guess not the end of the world but still noticeably worse than my 3 year old Model 3 and magnitude worse than my EV6.
  15. A

    Model 3 microscratches

I found a solution for that...PPF :D. Really makes the worry of car washing non-existent. I wouldn't do it on a lease car but if I had a black car that I planned to keep for 5-8 years, PPF the whole freaking car :D

Hearing super conflicting advice about battery charging levels

You are saying that 90% doubles the cycles vs. 100% but you are saying that there is little difference between 80% and 100%? A little confusing.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I don't know if I agree with that assumption of the BMW doing a better job. I think its doing the best it can all the time and the only way its truly more accurate is when you calibrate it by getting the battery to a low SoC and letting it sit there to adjust and then charging it to 100% to...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Projected range doesn't have much to do with your max daily charge. Just means your BMS is making its best guess with this change in your routine. Your battery is the same as it was prior to this change. The only thing that changes now due to your process change is that your car has an...

Just a bunch of car parts in there. It’s not a dedicated BEV platform so not very optimized.

Car undrivable after 1 week ownership [Tesla says pinched or broken communication wire]

It could be anything including broken motor. Fortunately, bad motors tend to go early in the life of the EVs and when replaced, the rest of the vehicle functions perfectly for a long time. Frustrating though.

Hyundai vs. Tesla | Why Hyundai Poses the Biggest EV Threat

The I5 and EV6 handle very well for crossovers but the Model Y handles better...especially because its sprung pretty stiffly. However, the I5 and EV6 have very supple and forgiving suspensions with excellent ride quality...the Model Y isn't really all that comfortable as a crossover ( I hear...

    2 Week Review - M3LR

Or you could just name it RESALE...because it seems thats where you are headed. Luckily, it has great RESALE :D I think you'd be much happier in an i4 M50.

    2 Week Review - M3LR

At the Plaid price? nah. Its much much much much much much faster than the Taycan Turbo S so they can charge the ridiculous premium for it. There is a bigger difference in speed between the Turbo S and Plaid than there is between the Turbo S and Model 3 Performance. The efficiency is also...

    2 Week Review - M3LR

I had a few quality issues at the start and after those were fixed, its been 3 years of bliss since. Keep in mind that with Tesla, you have a lot of options to customize as there are a ton of 3rd party accessories. Good luck and happy motoring.
  26. A

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

Yes. The other option is just order the I4 M50 and sell the M3P when it comes in. You'll probably break even with the M3P given the current market.

Smaller and Lighter wheels make you faster, more efficient, and offer better road hazard protection.

its half and half. I think the smaller wheels help both situations though.

Smaller and Lighter wheels make you faster, more efficient, and offer better road hazard protection.

Great info. I've had my T-sportline TSS 18 inch wheels for about 7 months now. With my 20 inch Performance wheels, I was averaging about 330-340 wh/mi with PS4S. Now, I'm getting about ~300 wh/mi and laughing at pot-holes that I no longer fear. You also get a much better ride quality...for...

Hyundai vs. Tesla | Why Hyundai Poses the Biggest EV Threat

Tesla’s market share right now is simply based on their supply. None of the other OEMs can get that level of battery supply and it’s a huge advantage for Tesla. Tesla really has a large leg up. However, the Korean twins are very good competitors. Model Y is simply too rough for a lot of people...

Nah. That’s nothing. I barely see damage.

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

Interesting comparison. Looks like the M3P is the better driver's car but the i4 M50 is the better commuter car.

    2023 Cadillac LYRIQ

This looks like a winner. Its also the same price as the Y with much better features. I think if you aren't interested in speed or handling, this will look like a much better deal.

Hyundai Ionic 6 EV sedan/hatch? leaked early by Motor Trend in full

Yeah...I loved the Ioniq 5 design...this not so much. I think the reviews have been mixed on the internet.

Road trip a Brand New M3P?

The tires play a big role in the range you get too. If its not PS4S, then it would explain some of the range increase.

Road trip a Brand New M3P?

What tires did you put on?
  36. A

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

To equip the BMW similarly, you'd go to about $71k with tire package but yes, they are nearly equal with the fed tax credit. Some Model 3s have good quality, others not so much so Tesla is definitely not up to BMW for sure. I myself have had really good luck but i know others that weren't so...
  37. A

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

The BMW is a nicer car. For the price, it should be. It has more features. I think the Tesla though has more interesting tech and will continue to improve over time unlike the BMW. Both are fast so its really a wash...i put 18 inch wheels on my M3P and it absorbs the bumps much better now...

How often does your M3P get rebooted? Disillusioned after 25 days.

I had a lot of issues with the X on the camera icon. Went completely away with the new software. Other people report the same. Finally, a good software update :D

How often does your M3P get rebooted? Disillusioned after 25 days.

Its a known issue with software 2022.12.xx. The new 2022.16.xx fixes it.

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

I wouldn't say slow...I punch in ABRP from so-cal to Vegas and there is a 5 minute difference in arrival times (using my Model 3). The Tesla has slightly longer range and the EV6 has slightly better charge times. For long distance road trips, its not that much different IF you have the same...

Road trip a Brand New M3P?

I've had the 18" TSS for 6 months now. Love them on my M3P.
  42. A

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

Ioniq and EV6 feel just as premium as Tesla driving them around. If they were the same price, I could see myself buying a Tesla but given the growing price discrepancy, its no longer the value it once was. I think the Model 3 pricing is dictated by demand but should change once things...

How solid is your car's plug + charge port?

It shouldn’t be that sensitive. How hard are you pulling? It should be locked in place securely so unless you push the button, shouldn’t interrupt charge.
  44. A

Is a backup mobile connector necessary?

I just got an EV6 and setup a charging solution for an old dryer plug. However, we plan to use the mobile connector to travel with as it has a ton of adapters available for it. Its actually a very nice portable charging unit even compared to other solutions on the market due to its adaptability.
  45. A

Road trip a Brand New M3P?

Keep in mind that Tesla's in-car software is as good as ABRP. If you look at your battery and its getting near that 30% mark, just hit the supercharger location marker on the maps and you have a whole slew of available superchargers on your way. Its actually easier than many cars...it...

Unsure if model 3 would be right for me - advice appreciated

The interior is nice but the drivetrain doesn't have the same punch as a LR and its NOT EVEN CLOSE. 5.6s is if you launch it. 5-60 which is an indicator of what you would see on the streets is 6.4s which is significantly weaker than a LR which runs 5-60 at the same clip as 0-60 due to instant...

Unsure if model 3 would be right for me - advice appreciated

I have a touring Mazda 3 and I just don't think its anywhere near as fun as my Tesla. Just my opinion but one is a revolutionary drivetrain with crazy features and a completely different driving experience vs. a nice compact car. I also don't think its a "bit" slower. A LR Model 3 will pull...

Unsure if model 3 would be right for me - advice appreciated

Of course. The turbo AWD Mazda is much slower than a LR Model 3. The Model 3 is a much more grown up car. I've had my Model 3 for 3 years now and i've spent $40 total on maintenance outside of tires. LOVE the car. i also obliterated a turbo AWD Mazda 3 at a light too :D Its nowhere close...
  49. A

Going to order a new Model 3 performance. Should I consider the long range AWD?

That was 2018. Many many choices for 18 inch wheels right now. I'm rolling on T-sportlines with PS4S tires. Much better ride quality now :D

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

This is the maintenance schedule for the EV6 which is basically the same car. You don't really need to maintain anything but air filter and braking fluid until well past 100k miles.
