I don't know if the 12v battery is the issue or not, but if so, it is relatively easy to replace. I replaced mine with one from Gruber. You need to remove the front right wheel and get into the front of the wheel well where that battery sits.

Did you pull the plug on the battery? The service connector is in the left rear wheel well and can be reached from the trunk if you have a thin arm. I can pull and replace mine. It will preserve whatever power is still in the battery and prevent further vampire drain.
