    New Delivery Paint Issues

Very disappointing. I'd hoped that Tesla would have solved what should have been a simple problem by now.

Tesla quality control may cost Tesla its lead in the EV market

Don't you think that a "garbage" label is a bit harsh for the QC and SC? There are issues, granted, but I hardly think they qualify for an overall "garbage" label. That said, however, it is the QC and SC issues that are keeping me out of the showroom. A trip to the nearest SC is about 400 miles...

Tesla quality control may cost Tesla its lead in the EV market

I cannot disagree with your point. It was not pertinent to this thread. I went back and looked at the comments prior to my posting, and found that there was some discussion about the Chinese Tesla. Felling the Chinese version will probably be better assembled that the California version .... I...

Tesla quality control may cost Tesla its lead in the EV market

Thank you FlatSix911, I appreciate your comment. These forums are interesting. Looking back, I see that I got 3 disagrees on my post. I wonder what they disagreed too? Is there any dispute that from a technical standpoint, Tesla has been a trend setter. Or that vehicles were delivered that...

With the Cybertruck unveiled where will the Model 3 go in terms of specs.

afadeev - I do not disagree with you ..... I just don't think there are enough "look at me night crawlers" to make the vehicle profitable. But like I said .... I hope Im wrong. I am a Tesla supporter.

With the Cybertruck unveiled where will the Model 3 go in terms of specs.

I hope I am wrong .... but the more I see and think about the cybertruck, I only see a very limited market for the vehicle. Perhaps EM should not have called it a "truck." Maybe "Cybercraft? Cybercruiser? He should have launched the Cybertruck into space .... then he could have called it a...

Anyone else going to trade their Model 3 for Cybertruck?

Whereas all of the other Tesla offerings are very beautiful ... .... the cybertruck is not. (IMHO) I'm sure that loyal Tesla followers will buy the cybertruck, but I'm hesitant to say that it will have the hoped-for mass appeal. Here is the west, most trucks (and there are exceptions) are...

Tesla quality control may cost Tesla its lead in the EV market

An opinion: In a few short years, we will look back and conclude that Tesla squandered their opportunity to maintain the leader role in EV development. No one can dispute that technologically, Tesla was on the leading edge ..... way out in front of all the competition. No other manufacturer was...

    New Delivery Paint Issues

Teslas' are not painted by hand .... at least that is what a recent Tesla video of the assembly line showed. If Tesla managers are deliberately applying inferior paint .... it's a foolish decision. And now, there are video articles on YouTube regarding shoddy paint. Once public confidence (and...

"Made in America" - a slogan most will applaud. "Made in California" - Hmmm ....

    Pictures of production Model 3s

Boy wouldn't you love to examine a China Tesla. We'd all be most interested in learning if the build quality, fit and finish and paint are superior to California assembled Teslas'. From what has been written on this forum, domestic Teslas' have improved build quality .... we all hope so.

Paint Problems on my new Model 3

Just read that Bloomberg claims Tesla's build quality has made tremendous improvements. That is wonderful news, and news that we can all celebrate.

Paint Problems on my new Model 3

Based solely on what has been written on this forum. First, after assembling as many cars as have been built in California .... Tesla should have resolved all the QC issues by now. A recent YouTube video shows Tesla's being assembled. The narrator raved about QC and how robots perform with...

    Starting to regret my purchase

Electricfan said - "if you can wait a few years, maybe Tesla will get better, or VW or somebody else will have a quality vehicle out." Total agreement. I'm not sure I can wait "a few years" for Tesla to get better. I looked at a comprehensive review of the VW ID.3. Very interesting! Based on...

MASTER THREAD: Tesla Insurance Services in California

I'm very disappointed. Insurance cost has kept me on the sidelines. I had held-off buying ... in hopes that Tesla insurance would be affordable. I greatly admire the M3; I'm willing to put-up with the paint issues, road noise and etc. But I'm not willing to pay the insurance company an...

What a relief to see that the inside of the door jamb is painted. There was a time several months back that they were not.

Great to read this thread. We need more positive views like this one.

    Insurance rate increased. Anyone else?

Insurance has become the greatest deterrent to owning a Tesla ...... surpassing paint nibs, fit and finish and other QC issues.

    Model3 repairs

Admittedly, a slight deviation from the thread title; My brother owns a (high end D & P) 3 year old S. Today he told me he will sell it before the warranty expires in less than a yesr. He said after noticing a distinct new sound in the front end, he took it to a Tesla SC and the front-end was...

    Insurance rate increased. Anyone else?

Grossie - I understand and agree with your statement ........ but still, $9500/year puts a Tesla ownership completely out of site for me. My brother owns am "S" ... I will ask him what he pays for insurance. He's a real "tight wad" ... I bet he doesn't pay anywhere near $9.5k.

Wasn't there some recent discussion about Tesla making available insurance?

Near freeway divider collision - on autopilot

Today I was at DQ grabbing a burger, and a man came in from a well-respected local body and paint shop. I asked if the shop had an occasion to repair a Tesla. He said yes, several. I asked about observed quality; ease of repair; and if there were paint issues. He said the quality was very good...

Tesla To Charge $1k For Black Paint

Strictly a personal preference ...... I currently own a white vehicle and I agree with all that has been said about the virtues of the color. I would only add .... I love the beige interior of my current car. It is rich and looks fantastic with the white. I could not own either a black or...

Tesla To Charge $1k For Black Paint

Several post back I asked if opting for base primer is an option? Your post suggest that it is. Does anyone else know that ordering base primer is a no-cost option? I certainly would not take it to Earl Scheib ..... There is a quality pain specialist less than 40 miles from my home.
  26. S

Tesla To Charge $1k For Black Paint

I may have missed it because I'm not as attentive to Tesla as I once was. Originally, black was the standard, no extra cost color. Now black cost $1k. Is there a standard, no-cost color? or has Tesla just raised the base price $1k?
  27. S

Tesla To Charge $1k For Black Paint

I wonder ....... I wonder if Tesla would sell a primed only vehicle? Unseen areas are not painted anyway .... I'd like a primed M3, then take it to a paint specialist and have them do a first class paint job: no streaks, no nubs, no scratches ........... and it would be the exact color I want...

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

I read today that Tesla's China assembly plant should be up and running in about 6 months. It will be interesting to see how the QC compares to California.
  29. S

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

This point is based solely on what owners have posted on this forum: We are all delighted that some/many/most writers (not sure which) are satisfied with their M3's. That is encouraging. But too many owners still write about poor QC from the factory. The inconsistency is troubling and exactly...

Model S/X deliveries drop off cliff, down 56%

This thread pertains to sagging sales. I suspect that Tesla is fighting "head winds" from the media just like the president. (No intent to start a political discussion). I watch the news, and it is all about Teslas's declining stock; Consumer Report says the autonomous system is like a...

How long does it take them to refund the $1000 deposit?

Tesla e-mailed me pointing out that I had not ordered after a considerable time; then asked if I wanted my deposit back? I replied that I did, and it came by check not long thereafter.

Are the Tesla Service Centers bad enough to cancel my Model 3 order?

I read that over and over. I'm not sure it is true.r experience. I agree that few initiate a discussion with positive comments, but look at this thread .... many have posted positive remarks when asked. Regarding the basic question .... after reading many, many post .... I think it all depends...

New Build Date (January 2019+) Owners - Quality Impressions? Positives?

"I was hoping the build quality would be improving by now." Didn't we all. And I don't understand why Tesla hasn't been able to make improvement. I thought vehicles assembled by robot would be identical. (provided the robot is aligned properly). Perhaps the tolerances are too large to...

    Buy now or wait?

Admittedly, I have not read the entire thread. Responding to the initial inquiry: Back in mid 2017 I submitted the $1k initial deposit. Then I started reading about build quality; frequent trips to the SC to correct defects and dissatisfaction with the repairs. When I read that defects are to...

    1,000,000 Mile Tesla Battery

ngogas - I like your thinking. In 8 years if an automobile has survived road hazards, wrong way drivers, floods and theft ..... who knows ..... but surely something better will be available. I once has a beautiful 1985 RX-7 and protected it, wouldn't park it, and rarely drove it. One day...

Model S/X deliveries drop off cliff, down 56%

That is not what Inside EV indicates .... "2019 Sales" - January through March 2019. It was pointed out by another writer that by scrolling down the Inside EV page, the 2018 sales are shown and the S & X sales have slipped from 2018 levels. That said, still the March sales of the 3 appear...

Model S/X deliveries drop off cliff, down 56%

Shoddy quality and poor QC and missing parts..

I'm saddened by the above post. I had hoped ... even let myself believe, that QC was improving. Fortunately ... I am not in the market for a new car. Initially, my "want" was taking president over "need." Reports such as these have significantly suppressed the "want." I can wait this out ...

Shoddy quality and poor QC and missing parts..

I posted the above comment 5 months ago. I search the forum almost every day looking for positive reports that QC has improved. Either the quality hasn't improved ... or owners do not bother to write about the positive. Come on owners ... give us some encouragement that quality has improved.

Non Tesla EV charging at supercharger?

The Walmart in my town just installed chargers. Not sure if others are following, but it's a great idea. Several Mavericks in Utah have installed chargers as well. Rather than utilize chargers that Tesla funded ... restaurants, motels, service stations, grocery stores, and others will...

3 + Y Pics Overlaid From Various Parts of The Car

Nice work on the overlays. If they are correct, and I assume they are, it conforms my initial conclusion that I have no interest in owning a Y.
  43. S

Should I wait to buy P3 till after the Y news?

Others are seeing something in the Y that I do not see. I am under-impressed. Help me understand ... is it the 3rd row seat? Looks very cramped. The Y is said to share 70% with the 3 .... so it cannot be a lot bigger. Personally, I would have preferred that Tesla perfect the 3 before...

New Build Date (January 2019+) Owners - Quality Impressions? Positives?

I'm not sure a question about build date in January is that helpful .... but I sure do wonder if QC has improved in recent months. It seems ...... that there are fewer negative complaints about paint and fit & finish on the forum I hope that perception is right. We all desperately want Tesla...

Stop complaining and start promoting if you want Tesla to survive!

I like what you say ... but Tesla has not made it clear (that I have seen), and many writers on this forum do not have a clear understanding either. I did understand that not all sales galleries would be closed. I'm assuming the one in as Vegas will remain open. I don't need the traditional...

Stop complaining and start promoting if you want Tesla to survive!

This thread is about Tesla survival. It seems to me that Tesla hired brilliant designers and engineers .... and conceived a trend-setting, fantastic automobile. EM seems to have been fully in charge of that phase .... and did a commendable job. Then Tesla cut corners .... didn't fine-tune the...

Stop complaining and start promoting if you want Tesla to survive!

I get it ..... that most comments on forums are made by owners with problems. But relentless negative comments do wear on prospective buyers enthusiasm for the vehicle. That said .... there seems to be fewer negative comments about the paint and fit and finish. Does that mean that improvements...

Lets hope Tesla doesn't go bankrupt with 35K model 3

We all agree we want Tesla to survive. There appears to be areas of concern however. Inside EV reports that sales have fallen significantly from December when the tax credit halved. Many predicted that would be problem. Additionally, February sales were reportedly lower than January ... a time...
