  2. H

Basically everyone Should Get Solar Panels In California Right? Via Financing?

I do not know ANYONE who has installed enough stuff to disconnect from the grid, legal or not. I have tons of solar and batteries, but with a 99% electric house, no way could I be 100% off grid during the winter, solar just does not make enough!!
  3. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

Unless they can start charging what we use behind our meters
  4. H

Upgrading to 400 Amp service after Solar already installed

    I have 400 amp service, 2 200 amp subpanels. I have 2 gateways. I have 2 ATS switches for the 22kw generator.
  5. H

Should I insist on a second inverter?

I did this for my panels, which are connected as 6 sets on 2 inverters. I did 6 calculations and added together

Prediction, in Which Year Will New Electric Vehicle Sales Exceed 50% in the United States "Poll"

I never considered that stuff. I just want to be able to hold 8 folks and luggage and go at least 400 miles
  7. H

Is there any problem with getting way more solar than needed (in PG&E territory)?

I sure would get written approval before I did something like that. I have heard of folks having to remove panels when not approved
  8. H

Prediction, in Which Year Will New Electric Vehicle Sales Exceed 50% in the United States "Poll"

So many willing to drink the cool aid. Just wait in 10 to 15 years when most EV's are working nothing!! I plan to buy a new mini van next year, go ICE!!
  9. H

Gas tax alternative(s) for EVs (US)

50K is reasonable priced? Guess you clearly are a 1% person
  10. H

New Installation with 2 PW+, very low peak and daily solar production.

If you inverter is 7.6K, thats all you would get.
  11. H

    $51 PG&E bill but true-up isn't until December?

My latest true up is supposed to be July. I usually get the "bill" like the 21st. Here is is now the next month and I have yet to see the July bill. Is this normal when the month is the true up?
  12. H

  15. H

Santa Clara County retroactively Changing ESS Rules

IMO, that drawing totally makes sense!!! Another reason to not put in ones garage
  16. H

    SGIP Rebate Extension

Yep, a max of 5 is the sweet spot. Gets funnier above that so glad I stopped at 5, and save a bunch of money too.

My car is a 1990 with 120K miles on it
  18. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

When folks are a 1% er, its easy to buy stuff. My comment is directed at the 99% of folks in society that live pay check to pay check.
  19. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

All that was flawless. But working with them on a daily basis is work and effort.
  20. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

Yep, for a whole house like I bought. Best way to spend money is buy a 500 buck generator and plug your refrig into it
  21. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

yep but even then, its a pain dealing with them
  22. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

IMO, no matter how one spins it, I tell folks batteries are a waste of money, unless one has money to burn.
  23. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

That assumes nothing breaks and one needs to pay money to repair things.
  24. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

Yep, I could have never bought my system with those terms
  25. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

IMO, much better return getting more solar!. And if you need once in a while power outage, get a generator. One will save lots of money, and hassles!!
  26. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

NEM3 is totally about solar panels
  27. H

    Generator support

I do not expect to either live that long, or be in my house that long, so I guess I am lucky. Next owners can figure out what to do
  28. H

    Generator support

Did I use the wrong words? I AM grid tied! Could never survive being off grid without a LOT more money investment, no thanks
  29. H

    Generator support

I have the house set at 68 downstairs, and 70 upstairs. I use about 80 kwh per day, so yep, if no solar, batteries are gone real quick.
  30. H

    Generator support

The generator is hooked up to two ATS. It can only engage if there is NO power, whether the grid or batteries, it cannot tell. So when it engages it disconnects all the upstream sources Yes, at 22K, it can run the entire house with no effort. Generator can never see the solar or it would...
  31. H

    Generator support

Am grid tied. In the winter, or even summer, I would run out of batteries in less than a day if no decent solar.
  32. H

Upgrading to 400 Amp service after Solar already installed

This change sounds very very expensive. Ouch. I have a 400 amp service, and 2 gateways feeding both of my subpanels, 100% house backed up
  33. H

    SGIP Rebate Extension

But my mega solar array cost me LOTS of money, and I probably will never have a ROI. I never ever would have done it under NEM 3.0
  34. H

    Generator support

Seems like a lot of effort, cost, etc for what? If my batteries die because of no solar to recharge, I just run my generator. The odds of this happening at all, let alone much is SO low, .... Sounds cool, but KISS
  35. H

    SGIP Rebate Extension

But, with PGE, if you go over 5, then other stuff kick in which I am glad I avoided, even though I hit 36kwh twice in 60 minutes
  36. H

    SGIP Rebate Extension

    I would go for 8
  37. H

    SGIP Rebate Extension

Since the rules are pretty clear on how to qualify for sgip funds, why are so many being denied?
  38. H

    Solar Inverter Undersize

Why, you got what you paid for. If they put on more inverter, you would be upset the system cost too much
  39. H

Moving a Powerwall to a new home

Family is loving in this hot weather the house is 70/68 degrees
  40. H

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

How could they charge for solar I produce and use directly in my house? How would they know what I produced and used in my house? This is nuts
  41. H

Anyone regret switching to electric heating?

This is reason I stayed with a propane water heater, even though I also have solar water heating panels.
  42. H

March was a great production month

I did just under 5000kwh. Lots of clouds during the month so not that great.
  43. H

Anyone regret switching to electric heating?

I have enough solar that I can keep my house hot in the winter, and cool in the summer. I have 10 mini split heads, even though I do not run them all the time. YEP, you cannot run them like a gas unit. I set them and NEVER change the temp!!!! If I kick the heat, or cool up, it can pump out...
  44. H

    Powerwall 22.18 Firmware

me too, wonder what it does
  45. H

    Estimated PV Generation PGE

And because of those comments, I contacted PGE, they fixed, and now what I can get credit for is off the charts. I never have to worry about sending too much. :)
  46. H

    Estimated PV Generation PGE

Okay, what are folks Estimate PV Generation number, mine is from PGE. I wonder how high it will go, meaning, is June the largest, or will it be July. My June bill has 4,763 kWh as my estimate.
  47. H

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Yep, still have the GW with 2 PW's has export, one with 3 does not.
  48. H

Power out in East Bay, Pleasanton

Wish I had more power outages where I live :)
  49. H

3 inverters, 6 powerwalls, what to do

Why do you need more Powerwall? I have 5 and do not see they have saved me any money. Having the 30kw on solar is where I bank TONS of money with PGE, so much so that I get money back. I offer free EV charging to friends since getting back a few cents on the dollar is a waste. I basically...
