Derry pulls plug on electric car charging stations

Well, ok. Good to know where to avoid on my trip next month.

    Supercharger - Sioux City, IA

Part of the charging time entertainment.

Supercharger - Aiea, HI (12 stalls)

True, but rental cars - you're giving them money, just as with the hotels. And the price would certainly be hidden in the Tesla rental charge.... and then they'll ask for extra anyway.

Supercharger - Sherman Oaks, CA (permit filed, 40 V3 stalls)

Let's see... pay for parking or pay for coffee....

I hit a Tree in my Tesla Model 3

Good title for a CW song. Anyway, hope all is fine.

Supercharger - Aiea, HI (12 stalls)

If Rental companies are offering Teslas, they should install destination chargers at their locations to charge before pickup time.. Anyway, most visitors renting a Tesla will not be driving max range in a short time. If staying at a hotel or resort, those locations would be wise to install...

Supercharger - Aiea, HI (12 stalls)

Remember.... Supercharging at a shopping center leaves no time to shop. Put in destination chargers - cheap and could probably put in hundreds compared to a Supercharger setup. Plus it's a bonus for merchants. Hawaii is a unique location challenge for chargers designed for long distance...

Supercharger - San Gabriel, CA - Valley Blvd. (under construction Apr 2021)

Yup... nice to have a SvC nearby as a backup. But certainly not a primary source if home is an option for charging.

Where are refreshed S and X?

Thinking I can challenge a Taycan with my M3 in a race to Phoenix from here for pinks.... Hint.... I won't have to spend a night in a hotel waiting for charge.

    Supercharger - Sand City, CA (LIVE 17 Apr 2021, 12 V3 stalls)

A few pic. No activity, transformer in place, meter must be inside locked enclosure. Signage ready - guessing Tesla inspection when electric ready to be turned on. Site looks confusing, 2 Chargepoint serving 4 slots. Starbucks makes this very active area. Hwy 1 at top of dunes in background...

    Tesla for 80 year old?

I think Musk already answered this question. After the recent screen 'improvements'..... if ya can't read the screen - you're too old. Elon doesn't seem concerned with the complaints about the new 'improvements' !!!

Supercharger - Texas Best Smokehouse - Grapevine, TX

Like a bathtub - when it's getting close to full, you slow down the faucet.

Gotta pay for those multiple inspection trips.

    Supercharger - Patterson, CA - Speno Dr. (LIVE 29 Aug 2020, 8 V3 stalls)

The amount you get at the V3 (they are not 'shared') depends on the level of charge when you begin and pre-conditioning. You said you preconditioned, however your level of charge was too high to get 250 Kw. There are graphs around this site that show the taper as level increases. Actually, the...

Lost wedding ring under the passenger seat

Strong magnet? These are probably the hardest seats to recover dropped articles. Also.... bridesmaids are good at finding wedding rings - doesn't have to be your bridesmaid.
  16. smartypnz

Supercharger - Texas Best Smokehouse - Grapevine, TX

Two things 1. The 250 will only happen at a low state of charge and then sinks quickly. 2. New Superchargers typically are scaled back (break-in period) for a day or two. Advantage - usually no fees assessed.

Supercharger - Monterey, CA (Del Monte Center, LIVE 10 Aug 2017, 10 V2 stalls)

No... I mentioned 2 in Monterey - meaning the Sand City (where the Service Center is) one also. I apologize as we often consider Monterey as the Peninsula. Of course Sand City is hit and miss as it is a Service Center and since the Monterey one was built, they kind of discourage use (for good...

    Supercharger-Moab,Utah

Yeah. Last year was dicey. Can't imagine once things open up. Hopefully on Tesla's expansion plans. Can be very popular during tourist time.

    9-day USA Tour

I hear ya.... Fortunately I have routed my trip thru the 45 states using SpC's and with luck everything will go as planned. Hahahahaha. Yeah, but now there are many altefrnatives which hopefully won't disrupt the plans.

    9-day USA Tour

Well starting my 50 state excursion in 2 weeks with a quick 3 day up to Portland, Or - just to cross the river to Washington State. Basically a warm-up. But late May will be the big slice with 45 states and D.C.

    Supercharger - Sand City, CA (LIVE 17 Apr 2021, 12 V3 stalls)

Waiting to see how this plays out.... The drive thru at SBux has always overflowed into the lanes used to navigate through this parking lot. Maybe they plan to re-route the 'drive past' area. Otherwise if they leave the current parking spots across from SBux, this will be fun to watch. But...

Supercharger - Monterey, CA (Del Monte Center, LIVE 10 Aug 2017, 10 V2 stalls)

I dunno.... "down there" has Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Salinas, Monterey (2 locations live), and Big Sur. And if staying in town - over 50 L2's. Waiting for this 3rd Monterey location to open???

Supercharger - Sherman Oaks, CA (permit filed, 40 V3 stalls)

Yeah.... may be lots of other possible in the area. But maybe these guys made an offer they couldn't refuse. (Apologize - just watched The Godfather again)

    Truck ICE'ing supercharger spot

Yes, funny, but thinking it's staged (I mean completely staged). Otherwise why would someone show proof of auto theft online? Once you start to move that vehicle, it's stealing. (In Texas you would run the risk of being shot at legally).

    Truck ICE'ing supercharger spot

Would it be scary for an owner of the ICE to come back and find the SC plugged into their fuel nozzle?

    Supercharger - Georgetown, TX

I'll be passing through Killeen (used to live in Copperas Cove) on my 50 state tour and have no qualms about going that direction with no Supercharger there. From Austin area (Supercharger) to Killeen and then to Cisco (Supercharger) for my next fillup. If you live there, destination charge...

    Supercharger - Santa Ysabel, CA (LIVE 29 Mar 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

You answered your question. Destinations (where people are spending the night or more) should invest in bunches of destination chargers. You get there, plug in overnight - voila!! The car is ready to go. Next night.... do it again. Night before you leave.... do it again - but no need to...

New Superchargers on the NJ Turnpike

I misunderstood.... certain turnpikes were grandfathered in from the fed mandate prohibiting sales of certain items.

    9-day USA Tour

Just worked out an interesting add on to my trip... On the Monterey Peninsula there is a chocolate 'factory' called Lula's Chocolates. Fantastic chocolates !!! Can find out at Home It is owned by Scott Lund (original owner). As a child, he learned to make chocolates from his grandmother, who...

New Superchargers on the NJ Turnpike

So, if feds restrict certain businesses from collecting fees on turnpikes, why not just make the Tesla chargers "free" ?

Supercharger - Soledad, CA - Mission Soledad Shopping Center (Permit Issued Mar 2021)

Hwy 198 from San Lucas to Coalinga is an amazing ride!!! I've only done it in my M3 which feels very nimble for that route. Not sure our MS would be as much fun. There is one curve about 1/3 to halfway when going east that feels like the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. The M3 just fits for that...

    9-day USA Tour

Guessing they want to circumvent a melted cheese in the oven cleaning session. No, this is ludicrous. Some places (that I already mention which are crowd favorites) use cheese whiz. Antichrists!!! Once, my cousin looked at it and threw it as far as he could. (Philly)
  39. smartypnz

Supercharger - Soledad, CA - Mission Soledad Shopping Center (Permit Issued Mar 2021)

Yes, and an occasional 10 minute stop on that route really breaks up the monotony. And some of those towns can use the business that comes with charging.

Tesla “Megacharger”(Tesla Semi) Patterson, CA (exact location unknown, permit not found)

My first thought was "WHAT !!!! They're going to put Truck chargers in the hotel parking lot ???"
  41. smartypnz

Supercharger - Soledad, CA - Mission Soledad Shopping Center (Permit Issued Mar 2021)

Yes, I thought Greenfield won out - but Soledad also makes sense given the amount of EV backups that have occurred during the holidays (from SLO on up). But Goleta, Buellton, Pismo, SLO, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Greenfield, Soledad, Salinas, Gilroy, and Morgan Hill will serve US 101 (LA to SF)...

    9-day USA Tour

Ok.... a bunch of permitted charging stations just announced for Canada. Looks like they are getting close to Alaska (still almost 400 miles within in range of Stewart). So - I'm thinking just maybe I can drive to Alaska on this 50 state trip - so close - but still gotta get those chargers...

    9-day USA Tour

WOW !!! Thanks for this.... Actually my drawing with a mouse is not all that accurate. The original intent was to cross that portion of New York just south of Connecticut. (over the previous named Tappensee Bridge and head south staying in NJ to Del (east of Philly). But, you have given a...
