If Rental companies are offering Teslas, they should install destination chargers at their locations to charge before pickup time.. Anyway, most visitors renting a Tesla will not be driving max range in a short time. If staying at a hotel or resort, those locations would be wise to install...

Remember.... Supercharging at a shopping center leaves no time to shop. Put in destination chargers - cheap and could probably put in hundreds compared to a Supercharger setup. Plus it's a bonus for merchants. Hawaii is a unique location challenge for chargers designed for long distance...

Yup... nice to have a SvC nearby as a backup. But certainly not a primary source if home is an option for charging.

Two things 1. The 250 will only happen at a low state of charge and then sinks quickly. 2. New Superchargers typically are scaled back (break-in period) for a day or two. Advantage - usually no fees assessed.

Well starting my 50 state excursion in 2 weeks with a quick 3 day up to Portland, Or - just to cross the river to Washington State. Basically a warm-up. But late May will be the big slice with 45 states and D.C.

Waiting to see how this plays out.... The drive thru at SBux has always overflowed into the lanes used to navigate through this parking lot. Maybe they plan to re-route the 'drive past' area. Otherwise if they leave the current parking spots across from SBux, this will be fun to watch. But...

I dunno.... "down there" has Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Salinas, Monterey (2 locations live), and Big Sur. And if staying in town - over 50 L2's. Waiting for this 3rd Monterey location to open???

I'll be passing through Killeen (used to live in Copperas Cove) on my 50 state tour and have no qualms about going that direction with no Supercharger there. From Austin area (Supercharger) to Killeen and then to Cisco (Supercharger) for my next fillup. If you live there, destination charge...

You answered your question. Destinations (where people are spending the night or more) should invest in bunches of destination chargers. You get there, plug in overnight - voila!! The car is ready to go. Next night.... do it again. Night before you leave.... do it again - but no need to...

Hwy 198 from San Lucas to Coalinga is an amazing ride!!! I've only done it in my M3 which feels very nimble for that route. Not sure our MS would be as much fun. There is one curve about 1/3 to halfway when going east that feels like the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. The M3 just fits for that...
