Definite keeper. I don't see any issues!

    Traded Wheels

To anyone else trading complete wheels/tires. You do not have to swap TPMS sensors! Just swap the wheels, drive for 5-10 mins and the TPMS will show up as normal. It's all automatic, nothing to 'reset' nothing to do. I believe this is part of the move to BT TPMS sensors which simplifies it greatly!

    Terrrrrrrrible pick up experience

The problem with Tesla is that their customer service is not uniform--like at all. Their standards are all over the place. IMO, offering you a different color car is a strange move, I'd rather they just offer you a loaner. Instead they offer nothing.

    Paint Mismatch Survey

My car was built in 6/20. Unsure of the exact date, but based on the delivery text messages, I gather on or around June 12th. VIN was proven to be non-sequential, but mine is in the 13,XXX range.

    Paint Mismatch Survey

My driver door looked slightly off--not noticed at pickup, so I recruited my OCD neighbor who has a pear white Model 3, to take a look. While we both see a slightly darker tone on the front door, he suggested it may be very angle dependent and the way the rear door flares out more so than the...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Schwantz is one of my top 3 favorite riders. Just go big or go home. I also love the way he explains riding--in layman's terms. I have not ridden the track in over a year, but I will get back to it. We just had a baby. Side track - let me tell you a little Aprilia story, that possibly shaped me...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I think you may be right my fellow Freddie Spencer fan. I appreciate healthy discussion - I have not yet even thought about my old Telsa until I posted this thread. I honesty thought someone from Tesla may read it, and maybe see that there is obvious improvement that can be done. If anything I...

I covered it earlier in the thread. Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

You're not the first to have posted what you think is a snide remark, and a jab at my 'monetary' comment. I'll bite. I'd rather sell the car, at a loss, than lose my sanity and time over my disappointing ownership experience. That's what my comment was about. My sanity and time lost was worth...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Thank you for your post! If I wrote as eloquently as you, i'm sure some people would not be so defensive right off the bat. What people don't understand, is I really wish the car worked for me. There is nothing comparable (electric) wise. But I know when to call it quits. Every owner is going...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I've studied the IRS website carefully prior to selling my car. There is absolutely no chance the new owner will get the credit, but I should. [EDIT] I will not qualify for the CA rebate. Also, not a 'steep' price for me to pay after all the aggravation I went though with Tesla. I would say in...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I have not yet filed, so I guess you can call it i'm out $25K at the moment. The CA tax incentive is up in the air, and i'm not even sure i'll qualify for the fed one. I hope so, because I did take delivery of the car, and no, I didn't buy it to resell, I guess the feds could argue that I only...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Ha! The car was sold before you got the wheels. Random thought. I had offered him the wheels (same price as I sold to you) and he declined it. A week later he wanted to buy them as he had already curbed one :( I called a body shop friend of mine and I was able to pick him up a replacement wheel...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

No, this has not been covered, but i'll cover it for the sake full disclosure. In haste, I posted a CL ad for my car along with the problems I had (I believe in Karma) and put a price based on the headaches I had with it. I paid right around 90K for my car, and posted it for 65K. It sold in an...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, maybe I'll buy another one someday, maybe not. I'm only 2 months out from my soured experience so I think I'll just let my money marinate a little longer. I will be honest, that new roadster looks mighty intriguing! If they can ship with those specs, I'll...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Something tells me you didn't read my posts. Again, I implore you to read the whole thread and not just pick and choose what you want to hear. If you believe this is 'pile-on lists' of complaints and ranting about Tesla thread, then I can't help you. Please move on, and have a great day. I'll...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Thank you for being a reasoning voice. I tend to stay away from replying to those posts. I figure, if one does not take the time to read and digest the information before commenting so incorrectly, it's not worth my time to reply. If I sound like i'm bitching at Tesla, that's not quite the...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I could be completely wrong, but it seems each Tesla showroom/delivery center has a different way of sales/service delivery depending on your region. Here in the SF Bay Area/Silicon Valley. They don't need to 'sell' us the cars. They sell a lot of Tesla's here. The delivery center in Fremont...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Thank you for your post. I love that although we probably shared some of the same frustration, you went the other direction with your ownership. I wish I had more patience. I have zero experience in the car industry, and/or manufacturing, but IMO, i'd start with a top down approach. Tesla...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I guess I'm what you would consider a petrol head. I like driving all kinds of cars. I didn't feel that after owning a tesla, nothing else compared. I believe I've covered why I didn't persevere in the original post and subsequent posts. Things that I'm reminded of that I didn't cover in the...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

First off, let me address to the folks that have no issues with their cars and 100% happy. I am very envious of you. I too, wanted to be in that camp. I envisioned my S75 as my starter Tesla and then get a P120DL or whatever they come out. I had visions of a long and fruitful relationship one...

More info on tesla rangers. Basically the nomenclature they used for their mobile service fleet. Tesla updates service operations ahead of Model 3, expands ‘Ranger’ program for mobile repairs at owner’s home or office
  23. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Take off your tin foil hat man. You should really read my posts. I don't believe I've bad mouthed tesla, but rather just posted my ownership experience as succinctly as I can. Is it entirely possible that other owners will have different ownership experiences that does not mirror yours?
  24. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Careful, your confidence could be your downfall! :) I have heard of this "ranger" service and it does sound fantastic. This is not offered where I live. I assume the ranger service was developed to serve areas with low Tesla volume, as it would be too much overhead to open a dedicated service...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Of course I get your point. It's well taken. I learn from my mistake, and not something i'll ever do again. Contrary to what you may think, i'm not completely spineless, but rather I pick and choose my battles carefully. I didn't go into my typical car buying defensive posture when dealing with...
  26. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Again, I certainly didn't feel when I was picking up my Tesla, that I should have held my money hostage before checking the car with a loupe. I'm not that kind of buyer/person. I gave Tesla the benefit of the doubt that I would have a reasonably built new car, and any issues I would find would...
  27. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

It was Santa Clara. It is entirely possible that my car would have been better at a different service location, but a lot of my issues were with the initial build quality of the car. That said, part of my problem is I didn't go out of my way to a different location to fix Santa Clara's problems...
  28. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I would think that if I didn't bring it up with them, they would have just done nothing. Getting wrong headlights didn't bother me so much as the fact that I have to bring the car back in... again... I had some Xpel wrap on my car--including headlights, and they said I would have to get them...
  29. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I also forgot to mention this tidbit. Like many of you, i'm pretty busy guy. Spending my time going back and forth to the Tesla service center was not something I had time for or enjoyed doing. I recall when I was thinking of selling the car, one thing (albeit trivial) was that when I ordered...
  30. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

It does seem very strange. Every time I drop off the car with my list of issues, they would write up the repair order for me to sign. I am never given a copy of said repair order. Even after picking up the car, they would say that they will email me a copy. I never got them. They blamed it on my...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Thank you for your post. I can see that you are a very patient man. I wish I had more of that quality. When I was jotting down the list of issues I encountered, I expected some lashing due to the seemingly 'pickiness' of my issues. Issues that would make me seem OCD, and never happy. I guess I...
  32. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

No apologies needed. I didn't pursue a buyback or lemon law because all my issues were minor. In 1800 miles, the car never left me stranded, always started, and worked correctly as an automobile. I'm not the kind of person to cry lemon at any given chance or to take advantage of any incentives...
  33. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

The one thing I really really liked about the Tesla is it's simplicity. The drive train for example. Something like 3 moving parts for the RWD version. I was blown away at how modular the car was when I saw all the parts laid out at the factory tour. Everything was made to remove and replace as...
  34. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Well, you could not be more wrong. Some of the new cars purchased were for family members. Like I said, im a car enthusiast, and we like to keep a stable of cars. I didn't buy 8 cars one after another only for myself. Again, people like to interpret what I post in order to belittle others. Its...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I'm pretty sure I covered this. I went to order a new one, but they had an inventory model with the exact specs I wanted, with a very recent build date. So I went with I inventory. The car I purchased was a 2017 Model S, built in July 2017. VIN 210XXX
  37. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Those were not my words. I think you have me confused with another member who said 15k is not noticeable to them. For me, all the aggravation, losing 15k on the car and gaining my sanity back was all worth it. Not sure why my choice of model has anything to do with the problems I had, but I'll...
  38. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Appreciate your expertise, and interesting theory. From taking the factory tour, it was mentioned there is no difference in quality control between an ordered car and an inventory one. All QC is fine at the factory. Both inventory cars and ordered ones are built and inspected at the same time...
  39. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I know I am not your typical owner as cars and motorcycles (actually anything with wheels!) Are my hobbies. So while my move may be drastic to most, the car enthusiast inside me feels vindicated.
  40. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Thank you for your post. You get it. I'm not trying to take anything away from happy owners. I did like driving the car, and I absolutely believe in the future of EVs. I sincerely wished it worked for me, but it didn't. I did get a few older Tesla loaners at the beginning and I do note the build...
  41. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Look man, at my age you pick your battles. I know from my experience when to take an L. When I was having these issues, the service center was very apologetic and I voiced my opinions to them. I emailed the laundry list of issues to my OA, and the OA's manager - both were ignored. I decided to...
  42. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Thanks for your post. It certainly wasn't my intention to come back to this forum with guns blazing about my hatred of Tesla. Far from it. I came back to just tell a little story about my Tesla experience. I read here that Tesla has been monitoring the forums, and if they read this, they can...
  43. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I'll bite. Why were my issues with my car comparable to others? Sure, they may be minor in your eyes and many others. And I fully respect that. The car/service department didn't work for me, and i've stated the reasons why. IMHO, if Tesla had a guy at the end of the line check basic things...
  44. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

It Is not possible to find perfection in any mass produced vehicle. One of my gripes was how the service department handled them. That is definitely YMMV kind of situation. I have not checked TMC in months until I got some alert about an old post I commented on, then out of pure coincidence, I...
  45. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Apologies for sounding harsh, but that makes no sense in manufacturing. The guy and robot assembling the cars has no knowledge of how the car was ordered, and would not assemble them any different. I took an inventory car (had 6 miles on the ODO) because it was exactly the one I would have built...

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I guess I could have worded it better. :) The way I look at it, I lost 1 bitcoin. There, that makes me feel better.
  47. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Yes, that is what I meant, and I thought it was clear. But obviously there are some folks that love to interpret things the way they want to. I was foolishly baited into a size contest, and i'll just block said user from now on, as nothing he has posted has any constructive information.
  48. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

Thanks for your respectful response. I realize i'm in a unique position where I can easily rid myself of the car because it didn't meet my quality standards. I accepted that fact, and I am at peace with it. I'm one of those car buyers who is not loyal to any brand or type of vehicle. If I like...
  49. stan23

Why I sold my 1-month old Tesla Model S.

I would say every time I brought my car in for service, there was another 2017 owner (July build date) with similar issues. I also saw a Model 3 there with 3 pages of issues. I'm not going to try my luck at another one. Maybe in the future, maybe never. I'm an older owner (40) and a huge...
