HELP! Shipped my Model 3 to the UK from States, Can't get Tesla Service Here

Probably cheaper to have it shipped back and sell it over there than deal with it. It won't have maps, you can't charge it, there's no warranty or support.. and that's before the cost of making it road legal here. There was one a few months ago where the owner had been desparately trying to...

New Navigation Maps for Europe Rolling Out 2021.8

Apparently it's a visual bug on the download message - the version downloaded is still 2019.21. By now someone would have posted a picture with a new version installed if it was true.

New Navigation Maps for Europe Rolling Out 2021.8

Prepping for the v11 update on 20th April? (Well I can dream..)

Features we would like to see

Updated maps. Speed limiter. Just finish things rather than leaving them in a barely working state forever.

Which are the quietest M3 tyres?

After adding door seals I found the majority of the noise is road noise also.. easy to tell as even at low speeds (<10mph) it's quite pronounced. Something about the design of the model 3 just transfers noise to the cabin. I'm not convinced you could remove it completely even with quieter...

FSD Beta Button in the UK?

I'd be happy with 'AP+' - what we have now but slowing down properly for corners and avoiding parked cars. I'm not sure I even want the car trying to take junctions given how hairy some of them are for humans..

Model Y - UK estimated dates and pricing.

Cost of production is unrelated to cost of sale. Things are sold for what people will pay for them.. basic economics. All production cost does is determine whether you can make a profit or not. The model Y being cheaper to make increases profits, not the price of the model Y. Tesla then...

Order Tesla Gen 3 Charger in UK

No chance it'll do 48A, supply caps out at 32A. It remains to be seen if the cable is much lighter - 3 phase 32A is pretty much a fixed standard and all cables seem to be the same width. The shorter cable means although I'd like the wifi (which will presumably integrate with the tesla app) I'm...

    Packed Superchargers

Explaining charge rates is easy if they've ever charged a mobile phone.. takes much longer to get from 90-100 than to get from 50-90 and a car is the same. I've never encountered anyone really clueless except years ago when I had my leaf and some guy was having no luck getting the ecotricity...

Have you ever kerbed your Aero wheels?

I had my aeros on for the best part of a year before I lost them and there's no damage at all. I guess if you remove them and put them back a lot you'll cause wear, but if they stay where they are I don't see why there would be any damage over time.
  11. T

    Poor polishing

Tesla don't really do much with paintwork anyway.. they send it off to someone else for those 'resprays' which are of variable quality. Other things they just write off as within tolerance.

Favourite/handy voice commands that work [in the UK]

It varies with release, definitely. I've had it work first time on one release to being back to complete gibberish the next.

UK accessories for RHD Model 3 [megathread]

Wierd I don't see that, just the page I posted.. maybe they're doing some kind of browser shenanigans. I've ordered & will see what happens (I note they've *finally* fixed it so can order 4.. it was limited to 2 for the longest time).

UK accessories for RHD Model 3 [megathread]

Interesting that isn't linked from the shop page at all & google only comes up with the US site. How did you find it? (if it was from nefarious means tesla might not honour an order for them anyway). https://shop.tesla.com/en_gb/category/vehicle-accessories/model-3

UK accessories for RHD Model 3 [megathread]

Since I lost my aero hubcaps in the autumn I've always planned to replace them.. but now Tesla no longer sell them, and ebay sellers are asking for £70 each! So my choice is (a) get some of the wheel caps on amazon (all seem to be shipped from china under various brands), but lose the...

    [UK] 2021.4.x

I wonder what they're doing with these tiny updates.. must be something important otherwise they'd wait (unless they're just doing incremental releases weekly to make it look like there's activity, which would be unusual but not unheard of..).

Poll - 14 day EAP trial!

Tesla lights are pretty bright, perhaps too much so (they risk dazzling oncoming traffic - and I too have been flashed on occasion). They only need to be bright enough to be seen.. streetlights handle the rest. Living in a town (well, village theoretically) I almost never have cause to use...

Car adjusting speed for Speed Limits ?

Yeah it needs to be a heck of a lot smarter. It's wierd it gets it so wrong as road signs are quite consistent in that speed limit signs are on the left of the road and facing the driver, not facing 90 degrees to the driver, or way off to the left or right.
  20. T

Car adjusting speed for Speed Limits ?

It looks like it's still as inconsistent as ever.. AP changes speed for some people and not others. Suspect it's mapping related - esp. where limits have changed since 2019 - and you'd only get consistent results from different people on the same road. It's been going on too long to be some...

    [UK] 2021.4.x

Those issues aren't regulations, they're just poor coding (as is the cornering, largely, although apparently that's much improved in the latest version). Nothing we have is FSD, just AP with bells on.

    Does TACC avoid undertaking?

IIRC it's supposed to undertake only in queueing traffic, but my experience has been it does it at other times too.

Favourite/handy voice commands that work [in the UK]

'wipers off' works when it recognises it. Also 'wipers on' 'wipers to auto' Never had to say 'windshield'..
  24. T

Favourite/handy voice commands that work [in the UK]

Still doesn't recognize anything to do with wipers for me.. it just refuses to understand the word 'wipers' esp. when driving - the background rumble of the drive totally kills it. Parked in the drive if I talk *really* slowly I can do it but that's not really practical. Place names.. forget...

    Android Tesla Radar App

Installed it.. instantly it wants to run in the background & access GPS in the background.. goodbye battery.. It's pushy about it as well. 'Share data' is on by default and it didn't ask (yay GDPR). It's seen 1 car, and I'm the 127th most active person in the world... Not something I'll keep...

    Android Tesla Radar App

I the author posting this on another forum. He seems quite genuine but unless it gets a lot of users your chances of passing someone with it are extremely low. And most won't because of battery drain, privacy etc. Edit: Actually might be different, this app is using bluetooth (tracking cars...

What am I missing with evee.cc

Oh indeed I missed that.. dissolved company if evee incorporated (11584421) is the same company (the dates look right and there aren't any other obvious candidates).
  28. T

What am I missing with evee.cc

Very different style.. done in wordpress (and just looks like a blank page with a banner unless you happen to scroll down, which I thought it was when I first looked at it). Clearly shows their address, contact details, twitter etc. Different registrar, hosts.. I don't see how they could be...
  29. T

What am I missing with evee.cc

Google dns, which doesn't say much. Created in webflow and posts through hubspot - both of which offer free accounts. Basically no evidence there's an actual company behind this. Only wierdness is the IP is an old accenture IP address but that could be just their host bought it without going...

Trojan Energy "flat and flush" on-street EV charging being piloted in Camden and Brent in London

To be fair £500 is competitive with a £1k home charger, and I suspect their thinking is an audience of drivers with no choice will stump up the cash. Then you get into all the fights over people who feel entitled to the charging spaces because they've paid £500 for the privilege.. Popcorn at...

Trojan Energy "flat and flush" on-street EV charging being piloted in Camden and Brent in London

Can't help thinking those won't last long before they're either stuck up or down. Happens a lot with the moveable barriers in the city near here.. despite being sturdy they're regularly hit and end up bent.

Octopus billing is insanely bad.. I haven't had a bill for 5 months. I'm in credit over £300..

    Tesla Leased Annual Maintenance Requirement?

Sounds like a bit of a rubbish deal really unless you're doing a lot of miles and anticipate replacing all 4 tyres within 3 years.

    The Truth About FSD?

We'll hear about them using it on AP from beta testers first I expect. It's a no brainer really.. The current beta birds eye view though is a bit rustic.. I'm sure they'll overhaul it as well.

    Wiki [UK] V11 Release

That red and blue background.. I'm sure I've seen that before. OSX? Although I may be misremembering as nothing on google. Side popup menu is clearly android inspired.. Taking design cues from mobile is probably their best option really.. people are familiar with how those work, plus mobile...

Way too much gap between panels in that but I suspect they're not far of.
  37. T

    The Truth About FSD?

interesting.. I've found in my limited testing on such roads that AP throws itself around a corner at full speed which then aborts just like that. A human slows in anticipation, because we don't like high G forces either, which is why his manual graph is so much smoother. Hopefully FSD will be...

Poll - 14 day EAP trial!

Regulation stops changing lanes automatically. It doesn't cause it to require enough space to fit an aircraft carrier in to do it, nor does it make it drunkenly weave around picking lanes at random based on placement of cones or whether there's an R in the month.
  39. T

Poll - 14 day EAP trial!

The bays have to be quite widely spaced. The typical way we bunch cars up in this country don't create a space large enough for autopark to recognise. And of course between two cars as it doesn't understand white lines. I had it work once in 18 months.
  40. T

    The Truth About FSD?

Cancelled is a bit of a stretch. He said basically that the new version was such a change it'll be a bit longer. Which anyone could have predicted.. when has Elon *ever* met a deadline? I suspect it'll coincide with v11, which isn't far off by all accounts.

Best EV Tarrif without smart meter

Odd.. I just signed up and was on it immediately. Standing charge varies per area, so there isn't a single one. eg. for me it's 16.88p but if I remove my account details and go for the 'default' one it says 17.87 - I'm not actually sure how you drill down per area without an account though.

    Wiki [UK] V11 Release

I saw the video of the 'car menu' and realized... that's the android pulldown menu, then saw they were using a cards interface... Wonder if they've used the AOSP window manager or merely been inspired by it. Could go either way..
  43. T

Poll - 14 day EAP trial!

I think Elon believes his own PR when it comes to things like EAP, so he overvalues it. I'd be surprised if there's much if any takeup of it from the UK based on this demo.

    Stockport service review

Mixed here... Deep scratch on the front bumper and on roof present at delivery never got fixed - I booked in a few times, and each time they sent me away saying the 'paint guy' (their words) wasn't in. Eventually I gave up. Rattle reported wasn't looked at seriously.. the car still sounds...

Dreaded Front Motor Temporarily Disabled Fault

If you haven't had the wiring loom done get it anyway, whether it's the cause of this or not. Tesla service love to say 'software issue' if they don't know what the problem is. They'd probably say that if your wheels fell off!

Tesla pcp calculator doesn’t add up

Last time I did it was 2019 I had a spreasheet for it but they were within rounding error.

Best EV Tarrif without smart meter

You just sign up on the website like all their other tariffs. The current rate is here Introducing Octopus Tracker: Britain's fairest energy tariff The standing charge is 16.88p/day but I've no idea how that compares. https://octopus.energy/tracker/
  48. T

Best EV Tarrif without smart meter

Tracker is quite good to sit on if you can't get a smart meter but might be able to in the future.. I've no idea how they calculate it though because they only get readings once a month and the prices change daily..

    Autopilot draws first blood

TACC is AP without auto steer so it's just as prone to phantom brake, but it won't steer you into a kerb.

Higher value EVs not eligible for £3,000 PiCG (grant) anymore!

EVs as a class of car will, but individual models may well get more expensive as demand goes up. esp. Tesla who sell everything they make and have zero incentive to reduce prices.
