    Tax questions and strategies

Thanks @ggr @MP3Mike @adiggs Great info, very helpful. My original avg cost was $5 for each contract, so 30k of the original investment. I like @ggr approach, that was one of the options I was considering as well, to fund exercising shares from selling calls. I have a bunch of other similar...

    Tax questions and strategies

For the options experts here, need some guidance, tips, ideas: I have 60x TSLA 01/15 376c, up like 4000% (short-term gains).... So with sp500 inclusion week, what would be the best strategy to handle them. my goal is to exercise as many of them as possible with the proceeds from some of these...

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

back to selling cash covered puts post split, dont have to keep raising new cash with the sp increase. sold 4x sept 11 485p for 31, 12k premium. lets see how it turns out.

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Thank you for the feedback @adiggs and @vikings123. Completely agree to wait for earnings and even s&p inclusion news before doing any of this.

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Someone posted this and want to get some feedback: I could sell 5 covered calls expiring Jun 2022 @ $3500 for ~$340. This would net me ~$170K, which I'd use to buy more shares. If TSLA exceeds $3500 and my shares are assigned away, and capping my gains to 3500. If TSLA doesn't hit $3500 in the...

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

so i sold 2 07/24 2800c for 10$ and already 30% up. I will close it before the earnings.

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Slow day... all the puts are in place and working nicely. So quick question, have you guys tried long-dated puts such as Jan 2021 1400p goes for 330 so 33k in premium, and 1500p for $387 Or stick with the 2/3 weeks short-term puts? Any feedback?

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

thank you for the dip, closed the covered call for 90% in 1 day; and sold 1 more covered call expiring friday 07/10 1580c. I hope the sp doesnt shoot up another 200$ in 2 days ;)
  11. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

So first time, sold a covered call, expiring this friday 07/10, 1800c for 6$. I hope the sp does not go to 1800 in next 4 days, right?
  12. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

So planning for the next couple of weeks and earnings on either 07/22 or 07/29, was thinking of selling 1200p expiring 07/31 for approx 10k. any other ideas?
  13. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Maybe OT, but have you tried the same strategy with other stocks. I have some tech stocks for which I am tempted to try selling puts. I am so in-tuned with TSLA news and near/long-term milestones that I can make informed decisions, but not with other stocks. I might still try selling OTM puts...

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

I just started couple of months ago selling puts, and I have already made enough to buy Model Y. I have not even touched my shares/options/leaps or done covered calls. This is just crazy, cannot describe it any other way. And, thanks for this thread, learned a lot.
  15. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

One of the put position opened yesterday 1020p 07/10 is already up 75%, guess will have to open 1120p....
  16. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

I agree, I have many many calls expiring 2021/2022, but selling puts is an excellent way to keep "dry powder" and still earn premiums on it.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Look at this, NKLA bots claiming to reserve badger: https://twitter.com/search?q=I%20just%20reserved%20a%20%23nikolabadger%20Don%27t%20let%20the%20beautiful%20design%20fool%20you&src=typed_query&f=live
  18. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

I was worried about aggressive put, but I am already 40% up and on the other put another 15% up. this is crazy.
  19. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

So went little aggressive this time. Closed 07/02 980p for 85% profit, and sold 07/10 1020p for quick 4700 premium. Hope it works out.
  20. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Great day, good chance that my 980p and 985p 07/02 puts expire worthless.
  21. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

So I have 980p and 985p cash covered puts expiring on 07/02, it will be interesting to see whether they get assigned or not. Chances are that they will be assigned, but depends on macro. what do you guys think?
  22. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

    Closing 06/26 950p for 90% profit. Will go for 07/02 or 07/10 975p.
  23. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Puts loves sideways action, even with SP down, sold puts are up like 40%.
  24. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Can you please provide some additional details and examples for us newbies. I have started selling puts recently from last 2/3 months, and would love to get some more details to refine my execution as well.
  25. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

    Closing 06/26 895p for 90% profit, and opening 07/02 985p for 4k.
  26. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

So I have 2 cash covered puts in play for 09/26, 895p and 950p. Lets see what happens with it.
  27. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

So used the dip opportunity to close 06/19 855p for 90% profit and opened 06/26 950p. Will closely monitor it.
  28. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

That's correct, I don't use margin. Now, as the SP increases, that 176k will suddenly become 200k and so on. I tend to close the put once I am almost 85-90% and open a new one, as there is no point in waiting for that last 10-15%. What do you guys generally do?
  29. T

Applying options strategy 'the wheel' to TSLA

Selling cash covered puts is becoming expensive with share price rise. I generally sell 2/3 puts at any point in time. Now, I will have to add more cash to account and tie up the funds.I am in 06/19 855p which is 80% up and 06/26 895p which is 30% up.
