Western Power enforcing 32A supply allocation on rural/regional customers

They are. Their Standalone Power Systems cost $380,000 consisting of battery, solar PV and back up diesel generator, so not cheap. It would be far more expensive without the back up diesel, since the battery would have to be huge, but they are considering TOCEVA's dual fuel BiØFils to burn waste...

The Universal Mobile Connector is no longer standard equipment with new orders after 8 July 2022??

Remember to consider installing just a 32 amp 5pin socket on its own EV circuit. Then you plug in an UMC or an HPWC whichever you find to be better for you. And be able to take the UMC or HPWC on bush trips round WA where we have many 32 amp 5 pin sockets

The Universal Mobile Connector is no longer standard equipment with new orders after 8 July 2022??

Did you find an experienced electrician in Perth @sparkles ? There are many who are used to installing 32 amp sockets and chargers for Teslas, but Delco 0430 007 647 is one of the best.

    Rent Tesla Y - Photoshoot - Sydney

TOCEVA Racing are bringing a Model Y to Sydney as a support vehicle for their performance M3 rally car which is competing in the Perth to Sydney marathon. It will be available to rent in Sydney some time after the marathon finishes on 6th November in Warwick Farm. This is probably to late for...

The longest EV charging network in West Australia

We are trying to get the State to add Balladonia and Cocklebiddy to the "longest highway", by offering two BioFil 50kW chargers for $100,000 each. They also excluded Great Northern Highway and Perth to Esperance direct, but is really the missing Nullarbor chargers which have been most disappointing.

Finally - national data on the number of BEVs and Teslas!

As at 31/3/21 there are officially 799 Teslas out of 1393 BEVS, plus 411 PHEVs and 15 FCEVs in WA which is 57%, more similar to other States. Except they missed at least 65 cars in the new models EVS like Audi e-tron, Mercedes Benz EQC, MG ZS EV, Porsche Taycan, and Mini Electric, which will...

Can I just confirm whether full self driving on the 3 is transferable to a new owner

My first S85 from 2015 had free supercharging for life (of the car). This was brilliant except we only have one Supercharger in WA, 200kms south of Perth, and I sold the car without ever using it.

    MCU upgrade/replacement for early vehicles

I am still not tempted even with a 40% price reduction, since HW3 upgrade works fine with MCU1 and I now have all the visualisations and FSD features on my S100D ( except no bins or cones). And MCU2 doesn't have AM or FM radio. The only feature I miss is displaying sentry videos on the car...

Remote area EV charging with used cooking oil

SA say they are installing DC chargers to Border Village, and WA say they will do Norseman to Perth. So we are trying to get WA to extend to Balladonia and Cocklebiddy with the BiØFils for $200,000. This would complete Adelaide to Perth.

FSD Hardware 3.0 upgrade for Model S/X

It took a long time for ALL cameras to calibrate. Some calibrated fairly quickly to enable AP,FSD, but others required for summon and NOA took longer. Not even sure all have calibrated yet - will check.

FSD Hardware 3.0 upgrade for Model S/X

My HW2 to HW3 upgrade went well (after the GPS returned the next morning). I didn't upgrade MCU1 or ICU1, since they are working quite well after various software changes and memory clears. I think I am getting most of the benefit of HW3, with stop and traffic visualisations (but no bins or...

    Real life range figures?

The NEDC range is difficult to achieve, but can be done. The Tank range is fairly easy to achieve by moderating the speed slightly. But I find the Projected range very accurate, and only use this for long trips. I just drive to ensure I have a 10 kms buffer (or more if necessary for your...

FSD Hardware 3.0 upgrade for Model S/X

Mine is supposedly just the HW3 upgrade (free because I bought FSD in 2017). I told my service centre I would wait for the upgrade to MCU2 until they gave a discount for those with failing MCU1 (like mine).

The longest EV charging network in West Australia

The WA State government announced today that it will build a DC charging network from Kununurra to Esperance for $21m. This appears to conform to the report issued by UWA a couple of years ago to build such a network on all Main roads in WA for $23.6m. Except the Great Northern Highway, the...

EAP for $5100 - are you buying it?

EAP is basically what older cars without HW3 and MCU2 can do. No traffic signs, and no stopping at traffic lights (which is getting pretty good now) and no City AP when this is released. NOA (included in EAP) is also becoming fairly reliable on Freeways. I set AP/FSD going on both the old S100D...

We tested a new HPWC recently and it still had the legacy switch, so not sure what is the situation with the latest ones. But I always try to give locations an AEVA 3phase socket then a Tesla HPWC, so that installation of the latter is cheap and all EVs can charge direct from the 3phase if...

On this trip, we haven't charged once from DC since the only DC charger north of Perth in WA is privately owned at Jurien Bay and doesn't have a CHAdeMO lead. Most charging points on the coast road have Tesla HPWCs now which give us 17kW or 80kms/ hour. If not they have 3p sockets but we can...
