I agree all the cheater should be banned.

SGIP Equity Resiliency still available in San Ramon CA area?

I am guessing you do not have to wear a CPAP to sleep. I would suggest having someone wake you up every 30 seconds all night by putting their hand over your nose and mouth. You really do not sleep if you have a bad case of sleep apnea and the CPAP is mandatory.

SGIP Equity Resiliency still available in San Ramon CA area?

AMI does not apply to medical baseline. I believe in a later decision they changed the electric well pump rule to have an AMI limit. Initially the program did not have an AMI limit for electric well pump customers who met the other criteria.

SGIP Equity Resiliency still available in San Ramon CA area?

The electric well pump inclusion has an income requirement, household income no greater than 80% of AMI (Area Median Income)

    Nissan Leaf as a battery

I just wonder how it would handle if the leaf is being charged at the time of a grid outage. I would guess you would drain your powerwalls to your leaf and after the powerwalls die the leaf would pickup. That would not be ideal but I think it would work.
  7. Z

    Nissan Leaf as a battery

It will be interesting to see if you can get the leaf integrated into your system and have it play nice with your powerwalls. I imagine that will be your greatest difficulty.

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

Based on your math for the high usage customer this bill for 850kWh would be about $311 not $525?
  9. Z

    SGIP Rebate Extension

You are correct. I thought you had to have had events but with medical baseline you do not.
  10. Z

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

A significant transmission or generation forced outage would also be a reason for calling on VPP energy.
  11. Z

    SGIP Rebate Extension

Have you had 2 or more PSPS events? If you have you might qualify for 2 powerwalls under the medical baseline. To qualify for the 3 powerwalls under SGIP you would have to meet income limits and I believe be on a well pump as your sole source of water.
  12. Z

    SGIP Rebate Extension

With a medical baseline you qualify for 2 powerwalls regardless of peak consumption. I failed to mention you have to have sustained multiple PSPS outages to qualify.
  13. Z

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

True, but this also limits capacity of those participating and might be part of the reason the total MW capacity is so low.
  14. Z

    SGIP Rebate Extension

Swell Energy. SGIP equity resiliency. Must be on medical baseline to qualify without having an income threshold qualifier.
  15. Z

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

I thought they would have higher adoption. 100 MW would be a good start. I thought they would get more like 250 MW. At $2000/MW this will likely be called upon just prior to shedding load. I certainly hope the program doesn't drain peoples powerwalls for 2 hours and allow the local utility to...

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

6 MW that is absolutely pathetic. I run a relatively small system and losing a 6/MW generator is basically not noticable except for the actual breaker operation.

    No, Swell Energy.

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

Might want to put the solar +ESS in self consumption to limit grid exports, to be fair.

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

A COP of 3 would still be 5 MWH. What is a good COP for an air source heat pump these days?
  22. Z

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

I did the math for heat pump heating at my house and estimate I would need an additional 7-9 MWH of energy to produce the 50 MMBTU that I would need during heating season with a COP of 2-2.5. With PG&E rates it would be almost the same cost as propane, not counting the significant cost to switch...

And when the realtime price goes to $2000 are you going to open your disconnects and sit in the dark when it is 110 outside or 20 outside . CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

I think I am looking at it different than you are when it comes to the $0.31. Any time that I am using energy from the solar system I am not paying PG&E that rate. I do not believe that under NEM 3 I will be paid that rate. I have said multiple times that if NEM 3 passes I will shift my usage to...

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

I bought a house that happens to have solar and I should disconnect it or I am a hypocrite. Well I am not an idiot so that is not going to happen. Guess I am a hypocrite, oh man that stings, okay i am over it. The vast majority of this thread has been whining about paying fixed costs if NEM 3...

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

No but I do know how to program my equipment to use power when my solar is generating and therefore the vast majority of it will be at $0.31/kWH. Let's see pool pump check, Thermostat check... Is this too hard for you Donuthole? If all future homeowners had the same benefit as NEM 2, and they...

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

It would be somewhere in between though I would think that it would be far closer to the high end than the low end. It is pretty easy to program a thermostat to use the AC to cool the house in summer while the solar is producing. NEM 2 already requires TOU rates at least in my service area as...

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

$440-$660 how do you get to that value? Are you taking every kWH of solar generation and sending it to the grid? That is more than a bit extreme. I believe the actual numbers for me and for most people would be much better than what you think.
  34. Z

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

That is a great idea! No not really. I will just pay the per kw solar fee if that ever comes about. The system generates about 11/MW a year which at 0.31/kwh is about $3400, paying $720 of that to the PoCo doesn't seem like such a big deal.
  35. Z

CPUC Nem 3.0 discussion as it relates to Energy Products

In the ultimate irony I bought a house with solar. It does not change my position on NEM 3. I don't really care if they change NEM and have some grid charges as I do understand that the grid needs to be paid for and is a benefit to everyone. There is not some massive benefit to the grid from a...

SGIP Incentive and sale of home

We are in the process of listing my SGIP powerwall home. We are planning on making the disclosures for how the system must be operated. My contractor, Swell Energy, requested that I pass on their information to the new buyer so they can answer any questions and to ensure the system is properly...

Can I add more solar with PG&E?

1 week is not 0.1% of the time. The generator will not charge your Plaid or Powerwalls. You will be spending a whole lot of money to save $128/month. It's your money so you can burn it up for all I care.
  38. Z

Can I add more solar with PG&E?

Sounds like you will have a hard time paying the $128/month for that 16kw system under NEM 3. You know that backup generator that you are going to run in the winter will not be powered from sunshine.

SGIP Incentive and sale of home

I have used 2.93 mwh of Powerwall energy in the 9 months I have had them, so about 80 kwh/week.
  41. Z

SGIP Incentive and sale of home

That is cool. They must just dump it to the grid which is strange because that is not allowed at least for me. 40 kwh is not much each week. Could just set the heat pump and forced it to burn some kilowatts.

SGIP Incentive and sale of home

Buying this house as a primary residence would meet all the requirements. I do not believe that is required. I say that because you can also qualify for a system with a medical baseline/PSPS area and I cannot imagine they would tell someone they can only sell their home to someone else qualified...

Midwest Snow w Solar Panels and Cold w Powerwall

The problem that you will likely have in winter with powerwall's is not that they need to use a few kW's to precondition them, it will be not having much solar generation to fill them. With your electric heating needs you will not produce enough solar to do both or for that matter to even fill...
