    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

I'm afraid cracking on its own is exactly what happened to mine after nearly 3 years. Heat and/or the design of the screen not providing adequate expansion/contraction room for the glass is my theory. But I repeat, no external force other than temperature changes was applied to my screen. Tesla...

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

Hi Bart, Feel free to include this in your complaint, sorry they're giving you grief, it's clearly something that happens... Marc

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

Nobody spoke to me at any point! They were doing the screen, a new rear light, and new rear door handle, just did it all and didn’t speak to me once.

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

Tesla sorted it out, no questions asked 👍🏼

That’s not as bad as it could be, thank you 🙏

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

I fear you might be right, but I very rarely have passengers, usually only my wife.

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

It’s 2019 so it has been through a few seasonal cycles by now. Fingers crossed they replace it for me. There are no signs of impact anywhere. I’ve had it from new and am the only person who drives it, so I would know if anything had ever hit it. I’ll report back once I’ve been seen by the big T.

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

Got into my Model 3 last night and the screen was going mad, moving the map by itself, not responding to touches, I hadn’t driven the car for a few days. On closer inspection in daylight there’s a fine crack the whole way across the screen. Nothing has ever hit it, it has just happened in the...

    [UK] 2021.44.x

I read it as it only being able to detect uneven wear, i.e., one wheel rotating faster than another.

UK 2021 Refresh RHD Model 3 Accessories [megathread]

If you can get the official Tesla ones, do. I had some like these from Amazon and they started looking pretty crap after a couple of months, they (at least the ones I bought) are not anything like as good quality as the real Tesla ones.

    UK Tesla App v4

This is pretty much the only reason I bought the fob. A long press on the back always does what I want. Why the app doesn't have the same smarts is just weird. I say the only reason, that's not true, but it is much more convenient.

    Key Fob + Key Band

Mine seems to stay put pretty firmly (for now), but it seems to me to be a tiny bit loose until it settles in, after which it feels like it's stuck to the fob. They don't seem like they'll last forever though, and it's a pretty high asking price. That said, I did buy a cheaper thing from...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

The outside doors are definitely worse than the Model 3, but there is only one button, so there's not much there to mislead people. Weird but not difficult to figure out by yourself. At least there's an actual problem to solve by rethinking the exterior handles of a car: Traditional handles...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

I think we will never agree on it as fundamentally I don’t think it’s ok to have to explain how to get out (even as little as once per new passenger), you both think it is ok to have to explain it. We just have to accept that we are differing in this.
  18. M

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

    Let’s agree to disagree.

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

By “soft” handle I mean a button that looks like a handle, just like the exterior ones. People are looking for a mechanical handle (like how they go for the emergency release in the front unless you tell them not to), they don’t give a damn if it actually is mechanical. A button that looks like...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

That would help, but I have had them adjust them and they still stay closed 🤷‍♂️ The real question is “What is the problem with a regular handle (even if it’s a “soft” handle) that is solved with a button?” I can’t find a reason to make it different.
  21. M

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

The external handles you can figure out by playing, they’re not too bad. The internal rear door exit mechanism is boggling for people, because even if you get the right button it just winds the window down a bit, so then they think they hit the wrong button and try the other button, which also...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

You lot can say what you want, I have fully able bodied friends that have struggled with them too. I do UX design for a living, if literally everyone needs it explaining to them then it's bad UX. But keep on it if you like, but I will absolutely not be changing my mind after over 2 years of...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

They don't help if your passengers have poor eyesight sadly. And you still have to learn the elbow shove button push combo (with the back doors in particular) even if you get the right button.
  24. M

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

I'm pretty OK with the exterior handles, people seem to figure them our after a few moments poking, it's getting out from the inside that's an out and out design mistake. Honestly whoever performed usability testing for the design needs to be slapped because they don't know what failing...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

There are some very annoying Tesla fanatics that come out with the "The doors are fine, your friends are stupid." statement. The reality is, I have the stupid little "Door open" stickers on the buttons, I've explained how to get out of the car countless times, but every single time I take my...

    [UK] 2021.36.x

I bought FSD after purchasing the car. My thinking was that for the money I can get 4 years of use out of what it does now (lane changing, summon, slightly more useful on motorways) plus whatever improvements come in those 4 years, as opposed to waiting for the improvements, paying more for it...

    [UK] 2021.40.x

That's what would be great about having AA and ACP as options, it's pretty low effort for Tesla as it's essentially just a remote desktop client type setup, and it gives those that want AA or ACP that choice, while everyone who is totally (and understandably) happy with the native UI can just...

    [UK] 2021.40.x

I'd love to see Android Auto and Apple Car Play available, and put them in a window (like the Mach-E does) then you keep the people who don't want it happy, and folk like me who see a use case will be happy too :)

    If not this Tesla what?

I had a Kona on order in 2019, while I was waiting I kept doing research and ultimately the Supercharger network and ease of charging by contrast to endless problems with other cars/networks had me convinced over. There are other reasons I prefer the Tesla, like better software, PIN to drive...

Tidal and in car audio with 2021.40.x

I guess I’m also thinking 96kbps mp3 as opposed to Ogg Vorbis which are very different animals…

Tidal and in car audio with 2021.40.x

I keep seeing 96kbps quoted, can anyone share how this is known, is it documented somewhere? I can normally tell low bitrate audio and have found Spotify to be acceptable without the amount of underwater swishing in cymbals and high-hats that I’d normally associate with such low bit rate!

Depends quick you go through screen wash really.

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

So, smart meter and IHD replaced (upgraded). New IHD is sort of working but isn't yet showing a unit price (0p/kWh), and apparently readings are now being received at Octopus but not seeing anything in my account yet, and no idea how much I'm going to be charged for Jan-Oct.......

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

In theory, an engineer is coming to fix things for my smart meter today.... We shall see.... I've also raised a formal complaint with Octopus and threatened ombudsmen involvelemt. The lack of receipt of readings should have been flagged internally when they stopped in Feb rather than waiting for...

Is a Tesla easy to steal?

Yeah, it’s very possible that my testing is flawed, I’ll try again. Certainly Apple support suggests SMS needs the paired phone to be on tho’
  37. M

Is a Tesla easy to steal?

Yeah, I have the full cellular with a plan for it that I pay extra for, but my experience (when testing) has been as I say, that incoming calls and SMS don’t work with the phone off.
  38. M

Is a Tesla easy to steal?

Yeah, if the phone is off incoming calls go to voicemail and SMSs don’t come through. iMessage works. Vodafone.

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

While incorrectly reporting 4 available stalls on the map. I’m all for opening it up, but there’s work to do in order to prevent chaos and fights 🙁

Is a Tesla easy to steal?

Interesting. I’ll have to try it then, believe it or not, I do own one, was sure I’d read it somewhere! *Edit* Huh 🤔 well I stand corrected *Edit edit* Incoming calls and SMS don’t work though, shame, maybe that’s what I’d read and confused my gin addled mind.

Enhanced Summon & Autonomous driving UK laws

This is why FSD is hard right, because what *should* it do? Quite commonly on UK roads there won't be a big enough gap for many minutes. Should the car just sit there doing 50mph for 15 minutes while cars slowly pass by?
  44. M

Enhanced Summon & Autonomous driving UK laws

I can't remember what the exact rules are but it's something like 15 seconds total indication including manoeuvre and 5 seconds for manoeuvre itself right? Imagine it being applied to a human in this scenario: Driving in middle lane in busy but moving traffic with cars passing reasonably close...

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

Oh man, I would have but my gas and electric meters haven't been working at the same time long enough for me to actually get a feel for how much to keep aside. So sadly, I have not 😬
