New MYP owner - My take on ride quality.

Yeah, I will say that I still do dodge bumps and imperfections all the time, even on a brand new '22.
  2. fiehlsport

New MYP owner - My take on ride quality.

Problem is, the springs changed at some point this year, with people reporting the mid to late '22 MYP riding softer than the earlier models. (I think this translates to the LR as well, but not 100% sure) I rode in a '21 that crashed over bumps and was plain awful, while my '22 is way more...

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Thanks, let me know if you get the check soon. I don't think my SAs knew when it would be replenished so they never mentioned it being refunded at all to me. Did you ever sign a Drive Clean rebate form of any sort when you took delivery? I did not - I thought the buyer had to sign it before we...

    PSA: Bed in your brakes

+1 for Brake Burnishing in Service Mode! Works awesome. I just made a video about it last night actually. My brand new brakes benefitted greatly from it - lots of smelly smoke, and the rotors lost some of the crosshatching from the factory.

Only one TPMS sensor update frequently?

I'm not suggesting anything to do with locations - just whatever will get the software to forget the saved pressures and re-scan everything from scratch again.
  8. fiehlsport

Only one TPMS sensor update frequently?

Gotcha, I'm wondering if changing the wheel configuration will cause the car to scan for fresh pressure data then. Afterwards, just change it back to the actual wheels.
  9. fiehlsport

Only one TPMS sensor update frequently?

That is very strange. It's working... so it would be hard to say that one is defective. It just is too much of coincidence that the one that got a patch, is the only sensor reporting. I'm still not up to speed on how the new software works (Just got my 2nd Tesla a few days ago after a long...

2022.28.2 update - no more DRL's while driving

I've never moved the headlights off of Auto in my entire lifetime of driving cars... just set it and forget it!
  11. fiehlsport

Only one TPMS sensor update frequently?

Yes, but what does the vehicle itself say? Not the app. Are they in sync?
  12. fiehlsport

Only one TPMS sensor update frequently?

Does the car show all 4 updated together? If it's just the app, there's probably nothing wrong with the vehicle.

Wall Connector Button Waking up Car Reliably Now - What's changed?

Awesome, cool to hear it works on the older cars now too. My wild guess is that the charge port ECU firmware was updated to listen for the charge port handle button even while the car is asleep for long periods of time.

Model Y Performance 21" Tires - Larger, More Comfortable Fitment Details and Experience - Michelin AS4's (With Photos)

It's possible that a set of late 2022-revision rear springs would have improved the ride more than beefing up the tires!

VIN assigned for MYP, delivery soon!

Older MYPs had harsher suspension. It was improved this year, I find it quite decent. It's not as comfortable as my old ID.4, but that's to be expected. Congrats on the quick VIN.

    New Owner. App disappointment

I don't know of another car that even comes close to Tesla... what more could you possibly expect? You can watch the cameras remotely from your phone, you can play games with a controller, and browse the web on LTE. There is literally no other car on the market with the amount of useful features...

    Model Y acceleration shudder?

Sounds like an axle problem to me but who knows. During hard accel, the motor mount would be pinned in one direction with significant force, even if it was torn a little I would expect it to not shudder.
  19. fiehlsport

External speaker fault with latest update?

It looks like this car uses a simple 2-pin arrangement - it's not on the CANbus, so a generic 8-ohm 5 watt resistor will probably do the trick. https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/wirewound-resistors-5-watt/madisound-8-ohm-5-watt-wirewound-resistor/

Model Y Performance 21" Tires - Larger, More Comfortable Fitment Details and Experience - Michelin AS4's (With Photos)

The OE tires are "T0" Tesla spec, which actually has a thicker rim protector that sticks out - spec'd by Tesla for this purpose. So, if you have a propensity to drive into curbs, worth noting. They're stretched, but the rim guard is specifically larger on this custom tire to account for fitment...

Wall Connector Button Waking up Car Reliably Now - What's changed?

On my '18 Model 3, I always had to do the rear door handle trick to wake the car up so I could remove the HPWC handle from the charging port. On my new Y, holding the button on the handle always wakes the car up now after it's slept overnight. Model 3 used a Gen 2 HPWC, Model Y is on a Gen 3...

External speaker fault with latest update?

There is a low "staticy" sound when creeping around in Drive, but it goes away at a certain speed.

External speaker fault with latest update?

This is the first EV I've had that I don't plan to modify the speaker. It's pleasant, for once.
  24. fiehlsport

    “Within spec” 🤣

Yeah, this post seems a bit overblown.... If it's missing a piece of interior trim, they'll order it and bring it to install with mobile service. Very straightforward.

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

It’s over! This car fully exceeds my expectations, it feels completely different than my 2018 Model 3 did. Very upscale and rides amazingly. More NY info: Found someone on the Drive Clean rebate team that told me the $500 state incentive can be applied retroactively if Tesla does not apply it at purchase in the next few weeks. I’ll go that route instead of fight it more!

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Nice! For anyone taking delivery in New York, the Drive Clean Rebate ($500) expired TODAY, I’m told. NY’s pool for it ran out of money. So now I owe another $500 on Saturday due to the rail delay. Not pleased… but gotta do it. I tried to ask Mt. Kisco if I could drive down this afternoon to...

Is Model Y not compatible with the wall connector with Elon Signature?

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

If your car hasn't been built yet then it is not likely relevant to the rail strike. There's still a decent chance it changes again for you. Just for some perspective, May orders are finishing up deliveries right now. July OD makes sense for an October delivery, worst case scenario, though I...

    Massachusetts Waiting Room

Awesome. The end is almost here! My SA said as soon as the vehicle "moves" from the railyard I'd get an automated text, but it looks like it's up to the delivery center to send it out once they receive the car, probably. Good to see the early-September cars are moving now.

Tesla Wall Connector: Hard wiring Vs NEMA 14-50

If you get another non-Tesla EV in the future just get this: https://ev-lectron.com/products/lectron-tesla-to-j1772-adapter-max-48a-250v-for-tesla-high-powered-connectors-destination-chargers-and-mobile-connectors-black We use it every day to charge our Hyundai Ioniq, and it clips into a J1772...

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

The railyard is still very backed up. Tesla has started using trucks from Fremont and Austin to the east coast now. Hopefully they can get their cars out of there soon. I think this will cause a ripple effect for the next month. You should ask your SA where the car is, they might tell you. If...

Same, supposed to get car 12 days ago. EDD will keep pushing. People on the Model 3 subreddit seem to be getting their cars out of the railyard in PA/NJ/VA, and a handful of Model Ys here too. Tesla Wall Connector: Hard wiring Vs NEMA 14-50

Just to reiterate, there is no 14-50 option with the Tesla Wall Connector that 100% adheres to code. It is not designed for this, or permitted in the installation manual for this. You have to hardwire the wall connector, and that would be clear when the electrician opens up the unit anyways...

    Massachusetts Waiting Room

The change isn't likely to occur exactly when the new model year hits. There's a good chance the early 2023s are the exact same as the 2022s, then sometime in 2023 the new wheel/stalks come into play. Historically, new model years don't automatically get new features on day 1.

    CCS Adapter - ?

If my MYP ever comes I'd like to use it at least once :p But I still have a free Electrify America plan for another 2 years, so it may be in my best interest to use CCS as much as possible with this new car.

Is Model Y not compatible with the wall connector with Elon Signature?

What issues? I was under the impression that Gen1/Gen2 wall connectors were updated by the vehicles, if they're even updated at all. Not much info on that in the wild. Never heard of any compatibility issues with a Gen2 connector on any Tesla vehicle, though. All Tesla chargers work on all...

Are all Model Y orders placed for the 279mi range variant built in Austin with 4680 and structural battery pack?

Cargo cover has been on a few MYPs built on 9/1 in Fremont. We can check that one off the list! Maybe some LRs too, but haven't checked those threads.
  45. fiehlsport

    MYP Cargo Cover

Wow, that’s weird. Wonder if it was totally random then based on factors we’re unaware of. Edit: Another 9/1 build is reported to have the cargo cover in the MYP Delivery Estimates thread. So that makes two… Curious on the carpeted trim retrofit if anyone dives into that, I doubt mine will...

Tesla SC versus Aftermarket Wheels and Tires.

  47. fiehlsport

Are all Model Y orders placed for the 279mi range variant built in Austin with 4680 and structural battery pack?

The Tesla rep, as with many, aren't very sharp with up-to-date product knowledge sometimes. MY AWD trims are all 4680. The other factories do not have the tooling to build a structural pack car at this time.
  48. fiehlsport

    MYP Cargo Cover

@LouieZ32 Just received a Fremont with cargo cover. Assumed with a 9/1 build date. Narrowing it down a bit to when the change was implemented. Everything after 9/1 at least should have it. Probably the last week of August it was implemented at some point.
  49. fiehlsport

Is Model Y not compatible with the wall connector with Elon Signature?

The person you sold this to really needed to do more research. I would be annoyed. It is likely they didn't properly wire the unit for 80A either, as this requires some really beefy wire and a 100A breaker. You can't just set the dial to a particular amperage without doing the prerequisites for...
