Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Confirmed. I took a long drive today and the unit now randomly resets, sometimes as short as 5 minute intervals. Now I feel bad I didn't test it more extensively before giving my seal of approval :(. I'm guessing the people on the Model S/X side of things aren't having a fun time either.

Quick update: the clipping is back. Don't hold your breath on a fix...

Not scratchy so far but I wouldn't bet on it; I think it will inevitably return. My favorites fix no longer works it seems, only showing recently selected channels. I'm not sure at which update cycle that stopped working.

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Yeah, I felt kinda embarrassed for getting one for so cheap so I was hoping they wouldn't feel shy joining out cult-like discussion. Incidentally listening to ChillXM without issue on 2022.28.2.

Missed this but not suspect imo! I got mine for $60 on facebook marketplace. Hope one day they all go this price. Not yet but guess I'll go forward with it now that you mention it.

    Uberturbine Aero Covers

They aren't knock-offs as far as I can tell; they are the same. Plastic is plastic. Due to some mysterious timing I kinda wonder if the "made in the usa" thing is just them applying the sticker or foam to the rims. I'll take their word but a lot of places will just take chinese goods and make a...

    Useless Setec Power CCS1 Adapter

I was fairly convinced by another poster explaining how the disconnect button on the CCS charger is specified to completely kill the circuit. I'm guessing the "danger" is due to a lot of CCS chargers being jank and not acting to spec...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

You might have missed it but I experimented by fully disconnecting my car from the LTE antennas and testing the radio. It fully works without any LTE or WIFI, but the UI is designed in such a way to require pulling the channel list from the internet. You can bypass this by messing with the...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Great information. That's one issue with satellite antennas; small vibrations can throw them out of phase with the signal since it's fairly directional AFAIK. I am not sure how OEM antennas tackle it or if the rooftop assembly on many SiriusXM factory-enabled cars is to help dampen those...

Just in case anyone was curious, this is how much the orbitals stick out. About ~4mm or 1/8 of an inch. Preliminary tests show my last trip with them is 236 wh/mi on an 8 hour trip, mostly highway at 80 mph. My lifetime is 246 wh/mi which includes winter driving and I believe chronically...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Yeah, I was thinking of using something like this to wedge the wire down or use cable ties. I actually get that clipping effect too when simply turning up and down the volume quickly so maybe the MCU just has bad latency on the audio transcoder. When I try to render audio with my computer and...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

I've heard weird clipping on SiriusXM that gets resolved by a reset but that's all. I'm not sure what static you are hearing that is both on satellite and FM, because they are completely different signals. If it's white noise you are hearing, then my guess is the audio system itself is picking...

Lol, you just made me realize the original orbitals do not have a left and right side, oh well.

[Garage Charger] How should we go with the cable?

We're only being helpful as a 50 amp circuit is too much for a 32 amp charger and too little for a 48 amp charger. Adding nuance and insight isn't fear-mongering; he asked for our recommendations and we're providing them. :)

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

It would be nice to know how it may be reliable for others, but unfortunately it looks like Tesla just designed the most janky implementation possible, and then we're putting it into a car not even made with it, lol. At least for my part I've had no issues but I have no idea what makes my car...

You're looking at the shock. Per the ingenext video it's above it, to the right, along the metal enclosure you see in the background.

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

The trunk lid is one, and if you can get cable guides, along the weather stripping on the roof. Then you need VHD to affix it to the center. But likely there will be additional wind noise. It's only meant for diagnosis in this case, not a permanent solution. For that, I think placing the antenna...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

It's continuously updating so that means your antenna is in a suboptimal location; it's getting a weak signal and unable to parse out the stream. I don't believe the rear deck is the best place; only the most convenient. It can still be in a radio "shadow" from the c pillars at certain...

[Garage Charger] How should we go with the cable?

Other people have answered this but whenever you have a circuit designed for a continuous load, like charging, it needs to be beefed up to handle the extra heat. Most electronics aren't taking the full load from a circuit at all times, so all the wiring is designed for that in mind. This is why...

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

A given frame can take mere microseconds to transmit. Couple that with the fact that higher priority IDs will always transmit, it doesn't seem farfetched at all that mission-critical modules operate in realtime. On the other hand, I've been taking Tesla to their word that they are performing...

[Garage Charger] How should we go with the cable?

FYI: You'll need a 60amp circuit to charge at 48amp for the continuous derate. I think the electrician is going to prefer going through the lawn. If you trench it yourself (just rent the tool), or source a handyman, you can save the 150/hr labor for the work. I would do it this way to also save...
  27. P

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

It's realtime by convenience; every controller operates with it and performs critical operations over the bus. You also keep saying queue as if that is a thing within the spec. It's timing based on priority and arbitration with transmission delay. If a lower priority node sees a transmission it...

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

Are you really so sure about that? With data being sent of wheel speed/position, suspension position sensors, accelerometers along body locations, and the rest of the sensor suite on the CAN bus, it seems fairly likely there are critical RT operations being performed by the modules. The brake...

It's been approximately two days since they received the headlights so probably not.

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

We already talked about this. The ethernet has the advantage of having 100MB/s bandwidth vs 1Mb/s. I was wrong in that standard CAN is 8 bytes max for the data field in a frame. In addition, not all traffic is encrypted over the internal ethernet; this may be by limitations in existing hardware...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

The hack you can do is switch to bluetooth with nothing connected, and open the SiriusXM player in the browser. From there you can get a high-quality stream over premium connectivity. We want to be able to tune in via satellite though.
  33. P

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

That's not changing the protocol, that's just encapsulating the data field of a frame. The issue is that with 64 bytes to work with and a lot of bandwidth already being used, implementing encryption is difficult (module processing power notwithstanding) on the CAN bus. If it were true that the...
  34. P

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

AFAIK it would be impossible to change to an arbitrary protocol. The very nature of signals over CAN is voltage pulses so the circuitry would need to be overhauled to send and receive other signals. I don't think the modules are running FPGAs in the CAN bus so they are stuck with the same...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

I currently have everything but slacker enabled for sources, and have favorites in: spotify, FM, tune in, siriusXM, and I might have them in Tidal but I'm not sure. But as to your forum findings I guess we may conclude that we get OEM quality of service: badly supported and very unstable. Yay?

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Maybe it has something to do with the subscription query cycle? That would at least put it on the same periodicity. I've never observed that behavior myself. I added 10 channels to my favorites, had the "Recents and Favorites" get cleared of SiriusXM channels after a while, and I was still able...
  37. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

How many are you adding to favorites? I'll try adding the same amount since I only have 3. The other difference I'm thinking of is none of my other profiles have SiriusXM favorites. I'm on software 22.24.5
  38. P

I expected as much. It does reset for me too. But does switching profiles not put the favorites back as in my tests?
  39. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Quick update: I was able to see this behavior while driving. It took about 20 minutes of listening to another source (TuneIn) and when I went to the "Recents & Favorites" list the siriusXM channels were there. However, when I selected them they got booted off the menu and my scrolling went into...
  40. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

It might. I wanted to be sure it was the ephemeral "global list" I had theorized so I tuned in to them via the app, removed them as a favorite, and waited 30 seconds. I selected another source (radio is fine), it appeared in the "Recents & Favorites", and I tuned in via that item in the list. I...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

😓 welp, it was a worth giving it a shot. Let me try replicating it on my end to see if we can avoid it at least.
  42. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

After it stopped working, did switching profiles put them back into the list? I think you finding another trigger for the favorites reset is important but if it also breaks the re-initializing that is a clue as to what is going on. I'll reconnect my antennas and go on a trip to see if I can...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

This icon should appear in the text entry window. If it doesn't click the three dots and select it. To change previously written text just highlight and click. I suspected the reboot process killed the state info for the SiriusXM since it survives everything else. I deduced that changing...

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Lol, forget what I said about the favorites not persisting after restarting with active data. I found that if you switch driver profiles, suddenly the siriusXM channels get sorted to the beginning of the "Recents and Favorites" list and you can scan through them. I even performed an experiment...
  45. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Lol, well it was a PITA but I tested it. At least using xfinity's opaque "pause device" option, the Tesla silently reconnects to LTE. Nothing interesting to report. I think that ends my saga of testing data connection permutations. :p Agreed. It seems my theory about the recents and favorites...
  46. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

At first it will be sequential. But if you re-add them (at least two as you discovered) it will switch to go between your favorites. Well I hope you don't have to do that. Ideally on a long road trip you'll be regularly tuned in on SiriusXM so you won't lose its place. I'm going to double check...
  47. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

What I meant was that you can't get UI access to your favorites, but by selecting one SiriusXM channel in your recents, you can tune in. From there, you can add your favorites by scanning through, removing and adding again (unstar-ing and star-ing). That way you can still get some usability...

Very strange SiriusXM behvaior (no not disappearing app)

Just a friendly PSA for you Model X/S SiriusXM listeners. It needs the LTE for the UI channel list but if you have at least one channel in your "recents and favorites" list, you'll be able to tune in without it :). Check out my findings in the Model 3 forum if you are interested in my methodology.
  49. P

Factory OEM SiriusXM nearly working in Tesla 2022 Model 3

Spoilers: I was wrong about one thing, sort of; the "global" list I was talking about still exists under recents and favorites when you have the menu partially minimized. So now that we have another inductee in our little experimental group I decided to do more science. As a disclaimer, all my...
