"Industrial Revolution Comparisons Aren't Comforting" “Why should it be different this time?” That’s the most common response I hear when I raise concerns about automation and the future of jobs, and it’s a pretty simple rejoinder. The Western world managed the shift out of agricultural jobs...

    Gas Pump in Garage

What if you could get a gas pump for the garage (with magically no fumes) that filled the car every night at 10 cents a gallon, but the catch is that it comes only with a Mercedes S-class sedan. BTW, has anyone calculated the equivalent cost per gallon?

Self-Driving Car: Is it a big deal?

I predicted autopilot. However, the self-driving bit that will be there next year blew me away! The car will be capable of parking itself in the garage and come out to wait by the front door in the morning! Now admittedly that is not all that useful. Especially since the car can't plug...

Self-Driving Car: Is it a big deal?

It's too late now, but I would have had them spec out the job thoroughly beforehand. Unless you have something in writing that shows they didn't do what you wanted, you don't really have a leg to stand on. You can ask them to re-do the work, but IMO, they are very unlikely to do it. If they...
