    DFW Model S Deliveries

Sorry to hi-jack, but how does the Suntek PPF look compared to the xpel stealth? I'm looking for a satin finish.. Does SunTek have options? I'm looking to order a Plaid soon, so I'm looking at options here in Allen area..

Wanting to order a Tesla Plaid, will wrap it, but what base color?

What wheels are these? And where did you buy them, could you share the total cost? I like these better than the 21" offering, and slightly less chance of my wife curbing them.. She has a X5 and 20" wheels, which she curbed 3 of them within a month or so of getting the dang thing..

Wanting to order a Tesla Plaid, will wrap it, but what base color?

How long do wraps last? I've read only a few years, but the xpel stealth PPF for example lasts much longer?

Wanting to order a Tesla Plaid, will wrap it, but what base color?

Got the go-ahead from the wife to order a Plaid, but she's adamant that she wants it wrapped in satin black after seeing a few that have this color. The interior will be white.. My ultimate question is when wrapping, what all is wrapped? Should I order the black so that everything visible is...

    17kW System = 98.4 kWh Production (5.79kWh/kW of Panels)

Same here.. I can count on my hands how many power outages we've had since living here for 8 years.. There would never be any ROI for me with Powerwalls, and the batteries would go bad before that ever happens.. Power is so cheap here too, it was hard to even justify Solar at a 10yr ROI even...

    17kW System = 98.4 kWh Production (5.79kWh/kW of Panels)

Would you buy it from me when I never use it again? Lol.. We don't get cold and snow here like that, what happened in Feb is unheard of in the last 100yrs in Texas.. I've been here for 8 years now, we've had maybe 1" total of snow the whole time I've been here. I'm from the north, and the...

    17kW System = 98.4 kWh Production (5.79kWh/kW of Panels)

I'm in DFW area, 42 panels I think (don't remember), but it's a 16.2kWp system.. Had my best day the other day, almost hit 100.. Had the system since Aug-20. Also included my lowest ever when we had that terrible winter storm here in Texas in Feb that shutdown the grid.. My Solar did...

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

The green light is solid whenever you're producing energy, it will blink when not.. The blue light is when you're connected to SolarEdge's system.. After changing back to Zigbee, I do see my lights go blue every so often. When I was ethernet as primary they were solid blue at all times. Can't...

PSA for folks getting a new solar install - ask for a map of your panel/optimizer layout

Can confirm this! I disconnected ethernet today and have my inverters set to Zigbee, I get data from both now!
  10. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

I disconnected the gateway box from ethernet today, I lost updates in the Solaredge app.. So that's definitely the path.. Not sure why its still calling home to Solaredge via ethernet though.. I'm curious if I power off the gateway box if it'll switch over.. I don't have 'auto' enabled, so it...
  11. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

I'll keep an eye out for that.. yesterday the lights stayed blue like when on ethernet... Anywho, its more of a curiosity right now.. I don't care how its getting the data now!
  12. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

I didn't get a chance to test today, but the blue lights went out and I'm still getting solaredge data... Either way, I'm happy now.. no nagging from tesla and we get to use solaredge info now.. win win..
  13. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

I didn't set it to auto, and yes it's using zigbee because the Tesla app is reporting data again... I could disable the Tesla gateway tomorrow and see if data is still coming to solaredge..
  14. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

I can see it bringing up and tearing down sessions to Solaredge's system.. So I believe it is using ethernet since it's available.
  15. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

Maybe it does both now... *shrug*...
  16. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

My firewall still shows active sessions from the ethernet port going to SolarEdge's cloud..
  17. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

Good to know, I'll do some traffic analysis on the ethernet connection to see.. Sure hope this is what it is, so we can just end this headache..
  18. B

Zigbee and ethernet at the same time..

Just had something new today happen... I've switched over to ethernet to use the solaredge monitoring, and I got the email from tesla last week saying my inverters are offline.. So today I decided I'd go back to zigbee to let them call home for a little bit... When I went into the setapp it...

Install day but crew left??? not sure this was worth it.

I've wondered about this myself.. I have 10 panels on the east side of the house, I think these would be better on the west side since the sun is there longer during the day.. That east side gets 2-3 hours at most before the sun if off it.
  20. B

Install day but crew left??? not sure this was worth it.

Wow, what a mess they've created for you... I don't blame you for just saying forget about it for now.. I think I probably would too.

Get some Sense... [sense monitoring solution]

I had a sense for a month, but returned it as it was a 350 dollar (had the solar one) power meter. It didn't detect my devices properly. I'd it wasn't 350 bucks I would have kept it.. iotawatt is the one I'm looking at now, co-worker has it and he likes it over the sense unit he had..

Solar Roof - Texas - HOA declined

I live in Texas.. My HOA told me there isn't jack that can be done to stop a home owner from installing a solar system. Legally they have to allow it.. The only thing my HOA said I can't do is a ground system, or have the panels extend above the roofline..

PSA for folks getting a new solar install - ask for a map of your panel/optimizer layout

The guy got back to me, and there is a matrix that has the QR codes.. Unfortunately what he has access to isn't a very high resolution image of it so I can't make out the serial numbers.. I guess I need to contact customer service to see if they'd share it with me. The guys here said this is...

Tesla wants to come fix my solar system

It's about 14.5K reasons why I went with Tesla... The other company I spoke with wanted to install a lesser system for 14.5K more.. My Tesla system was 30K out the door, where as the other local company I spoke with was 44.5K.. Tesla uses the same gear as most other installers, so there's no...

PSA for folks getting a new solar install - ask for a map of your panel/optimizer layout

I just had tesla out for a service call, and I asked them if they had the optimizer map.. They gave me a copy of it, but I don't see how this correlates to the optimizer serial numbers.. Does this make sense to any of you?

Tesla wants to come fix my solar system

So Tesla just came out.. Told me that the 1st line tech support person basically didn't know what they were talking about. One of my inverters wasn't registered to my account. So that's why (hopefully) that the app was just reporting so incorrectly. But as I write this, the app now say my...

Tesla wants to come fix my solar system

A few weeks ago I removed the tesla power booster from my power panel, i wired up my inverters to ethernet and setup Solaredge access.. Just last week I turned off the gateway box since it does nothing.. I quit using the Tesla app because it just didn't work. It never told me correct...

    Powerwall Wiring

I can't see Tesla giving you anything for your work. And honestly, in my experience most installers want it done their way. So if you went through all of that work, they might just toss it to the side because it's not up to their standards. In my recent install, they did all metal conduit which...

Tesla Customer Service..... Ugh.. Now I understand the negative reviews.

Now it just updated again, Solar is at 2kw, no house usage... I'm just going to dump this thing, the SolarEdge app is correct, Sense is correct.. Tesla = way off and I've lost interest in fighting with it.
  33. B

Tesla Customer Service..... Ugh.. Now I understand the negative reviews.

I've been messing around with this today, turning each device off/on individually to see what the app does and how the gateway responds.. This morning I just had the powerbooster feeding data into it and the app seemed somewhat right as to what was being used. So I then went back and changed...

My own.. Did an installer account.

Tesla Customer Service..... Ugh.. Now I understand the negative reviews.

Yes, I checked that it's wired right. It's facing the right way too assuming it matches the other device that it closely resembles (name is escaping me).. I did just test taking the gateway box offline for a bit and it stopped reporting. So at least that is right, then I just disconnected the...

Using a Credit Card or Paypal to pay for TESLA Solar

I was able to split it on 2 different cards to not max them out, but the nice thing is we (wife and I) received enough to miles to cover our thanksgiving and xmas flights to go see family.
  37. B

Tesla Customer Service..... Ugh.. Now I understand the negative reviews.

Yeap.. I'm just glad I was able to get the SolarEdge account setup easily so that I can monitor the system properly.
  38. B

Tesla Customer Service..... Ugh.. Now I understand the negative reviews.

If it wasn't for the cost, I would have gone with a local solar company.... But they were 14K higher (before tax credit) than what Tesla was offering, for a smaller system. I knew I was signing up for a company who didn't have stellar reviews, but 14K is a huge chunk of change to throw away...

Tesla Customer Service..... Ugh.. Now I understand the negative reviews.

I just did that service request through the app, so we'll see in '3 days' it says someone will respond. The woman on the phone while cutting out acted like she was putting a ticket or something in.. But who knows if she even submitted it since I hung up the phone.

Tesla Customer Service..... Ugh.. Now I understand the negative reviews.

I just had a great experience with Tesla customer service..Now I understand the negative reviews. To set this up, I had my system PTO on aug 20, 2020.. Since that time the Tesla app has never worked right. I had to call in initially and they had to do something in the back end to even make it...

What's the max generation you've seen for a 16.2kWh system at any given time?

No powerwalls for me.. It makes me think my app is reading someone else's gear.. Yes that's a great point, now that I think about it, the auto-connection checkbox was enabled. So this step isn't really required.. I wish we could just use wireless, but it needs the solaredge gateway box it seems.

What's the max generation you've seen for a 16.2kWh system at any given time?

When I registered for the installer account it asked me for a serial number, I gave them one.. I then received an email a day or 2 later asking me for some information.. I basically told them that I'm a Tesla customer, I have no access into the system and I wanted to be able to use the SolarEdge...

PSA for folks getting a new solar install - ask for a map of your panel/optimizer layout

I was able to register for an installer account, then they emailed me asking some and I just told them I'm a tesla customer. They created the account and I was able to get the inverters into my account easily.
  44. B

What's the max generation you've seen for a 16.2kWh system at any given time?

I have a 16.32kw system that was just installed last month, and the most I've seen is spikes of 15.3kw. I have 2 x 7600 inverters so that's about the max you can ever do actually. The only time I see these spikes is when there are clouds to keep the panels cool and then the sun pokes through...

    Realistic expectations

I have the little black box that Tesla gave me to connect to my network.. For solaredge, I opened a case to see if they'd help via their support portal.. I'd rather not deal with Tesla at this point.
  48. B

    Realistic expectations

I just obtained installer access on SolarEdge and one of my inverters is registered to another site.. Because of my monitoring goofiness, it makes me wonder if Tesla only registered one device. Then the next question is how do I get the one that's registered to another site switched over to...

    Realistic expectations

Lots of chatter since I last looked as this thread, I'm impressed with the engagement! My powerblaster only has the inductance coils on the main leads.. There isn't any on the solar feeds. The box itself doesn't have the connection points to even add more coils. My assumption is that Tesla app...
