    2022 m3p no longer dropped

If you think the current 3's are still lowered then why does Tesla no longer mention the car being lowered on their website?

    Jebinc’s Plaid Vibration Experiment Results!!!

Not sure how relevant it is but weren't half shaft's breaking in the older Model X's too? I remember 2016 pre-Raven's having the issue and supposedly related to the higher ride height and full acceleration. There were some YT videos on it as well. Turned out that you had to be in the lowest...

Going from 2019 M3P stealth to 2022 LR with boost thoughts.

Those seem like mildly unique and short lived situations to justify it - other than maybe the twisty driving, if that's something you find yourself doing often enough. If you had to choose between just the track mode or the added performance of a P, you'd just do the track mode? I certainly...

Going from 2019 M3P stealth to 2022 LR with boost thoughts.

If you have no plans to track the car ever then why is it such a big deal for you? That sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Going from 2019 M3P stealth to 2022 LR with boost thoughts.

I disagree. Track Mode is really only important to a small group of people who want to track their cars. The vast majority of people who go for a Performance are looking for that increased straight line acceleration and the M3P is a car that any average joe can mash the pedal and enjoy a thrill...

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

BMW definitely touts the i4 M50 as "the ultimate electric driving machine" just looking at their facebook ad's. I look forward to seeing a comparison between the two on a smaller track or something like Laguna Seca.

Going from 2019 M3P stealth to 2022 LR with boost thoughts.

There's different ways they could go about incentivizing it. For example, you pay $1000 if you want track mode only. Or you get Boost and full Track Mode together for $2500, or they only allow you to buy track mode if you buy boost. As far as the capabilities, I'd imagine it's really just a...

Going from 2019 M3P stealth to 2022 LR with boost thoughts.

I think if Tesla were smart about it, they'd make Track Mode an add-on (maybe something like $500), not just a freebee. Though, I'm not opposed to taking something for free but it'd be easy money for them (and reduce losses from customers who decide not to get an M3P because they can get this...

Going from 2019 M3P stealth to 2022 LR with boost thoughts.

Looks like giving up Track Mode won't have to be a dis-advantage anymore if what Elon just tweeted holds true. AB owners will delight and I'm sure it'll push more people towards getting AB who were on the fence.

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

Nice! I ran my Ghost against my buddies M3P. Ran the 1/8th in 7.28, he ran a 7.35. We were at similar SoC around 90 or so. Here's the vid:

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

Not sure if you mis-read me or not, but I think we are in agreeance. I was just saying they are different appeals depending on what care about most. I know the M3P quite well as mine is one, and I have taken it well past those numbers before. In 3+ years of ownership, I've yet to be overtaken by...

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

Most of us and those on the road, don't live their lives past 120, regardless of forum - everyone drives the same roads. Those speeds become relevant for the drag strip or those who track their cars on certain tracks, or if you're racing in "Mexico". So yes there's a distinction that will matter...

For Sale: Range Buddy Plus Auto 50A - NEMA 14-50 2-way switcher

Hello friends! I am selling my Range Buddy Plus Auto unit after a few years in operation. If you are familiar with the Dryer Buddy, this by the same company (BSA Electronics) and is a high quality hand made here in the USA by one person. This particular model is a wall plug adapter which allows...

    Lithium 12v battery upgrade question

The only issue I had was one of the brass terminals being kind of loose, causing a loose connection with the clamp which connects the terminal cable. I've had to buy a washer to allow the clamp to tighten down better as it was getting loose and caused my car to not wake up. But other than that...

    Ohmmu 12V Battery Feedback

Zero issues with the EarthX MPP 12v Li-Ion battery here other than a loose terminal connection a few weeks ago that required me to jump the car to pop the hood and use a washer to tighten the terminal cable clamp.

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

My 2018 Ghost 3P ran an 11.33 at around 2 years / 30,000 miles with the back seat out (~55 lbs) and slightly lighter wheels/rotors and a 12v li-ion battery (~23 lbs). But remove the weight reductions and I'd wager it should still manage an 11.5 easy, 11.6 at worst at 90%+ SoC. My only guess in...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

They will not keep lagging. Battery technology is improving every year along an exponential curve that we are just entering. The higher the energy density, the less batteries needed to achieve the same performance. The less batteries, the lower the weight - creating compounded performance...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

They're experimenting with different tire sizes to try and find the one's to run the best times but so far they haven't seemed to find one to improve it. Still not bad as only off by a tenth from the stock best times.

Real World 0-60 for Plaid & Long Range WITHOUT Cheetah Launch Mode turned on?

Despite the 3rd drive unit adding more weight, it's not *that* much more weight. It's also carbon sleeved and add's an additional 410 Nm of torque. I don't think that much additional torque is only a 0.3 second difference. Plaid will become what was going to be the Plaid Plus, but they'll...

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

Looks like the Pollard Family (Youtuber) Plaid S has now broken down. The owner has driven it hard with 4,000 miles already. Tesla is telling him tentative diagnosis is that it is a drivetrain issue. His car broke down right after doing some hard highway pulls. See below

    Non-deterministic "Nearby Superchargers"

It's amazing the app still sucks in this regard. Like at the very least they shouldn't pidgeonhole you into their definition of 'nearby'. They should atleast give some view filter options such as distance and or based on stall availability. I do know in the latest ui software on the Model S...

It was fun seeing these two Plaid nice with each other, but there was Nevera doubt in my mind who would win. :P Excellent content from Brooks as always.

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

Franz already said they will get into the 8's. So while the current Plaid S may not get a boost, future iterations of the car certainly will be quicker. I would imagine this will happen when they switch to the 4680 cells, what was suppose to be the Plaid+ but they will just call it Plaid. Once...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

Swap out that drivers seat with a lightweight bucket, change to some UP carbon fiber wheels, throw it down the track full send with a teenage driver weighing 99 pounds soaking wet and you've got yourself an 8 second car... maybe.

    A yoke or a joke?

Haha yes I saw that. Definitely taking a proper jab at Tesla. Here's the clip at 12:21 if anyone wants to watch.

And I see the comments are turned off. That's exceedingly lame if they took weight out and then turn off comments and don't want to just be transparent about it. Any video with comments off is just instant distrust.

    Dryer Buddy Review

Just get a 'dryer extension cord' - those have proper gauge cable and easy to find online. Home Depot or any number of places sell them and I use one with the dryer buddy as my outlet is at the front of the garage and I often need to keep the car parked outside the garage.
  31. MagnusMako

    A yoke or a joke?

It's not even the high speed situations I think are most peoples concerns I've heard voiced. Several owners have already reported that the use of the yoke is cumbersome at low speeds and I can see completely why. The whole idea of people will/should/just need to 'get used to it' is non-sense and...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

Ingenext Ghost is the same as the 3P. I have a number of weight reductions which make my car a little quicker (especially unsprung weight). I have ran the 1/4 mile at the drag strip against a buddy who also has a Stealth 3P with no weight reductions and our times were only 1/100th of a second...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

Man backing up with that yoke into the SC makes me cringe. In any case, it looks like you're reading off the non 1 foot rollout 0-60 times. Would like to know what the 1' rollout times are (should probably be around 3.0 seconds I'm guessing). 0-60 is pretty much equivalent to the M3P, perhaps...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

It says it right in the video what he raced. And you can tell the EVO didn't go; probably had a malfunction. The M8 was late to go and then the Plaid hit the brakes. Not even a race worth uploading.

Keeping up with the big boys

Thought this was an interesting article about a M3P winning after a Porsche Taycan Turbo S was thrown into the mix of a Grand Prix series race in Japan. Looks like even the Taycan is prone to experiencing power loss. Kinda funny considering how much Porsche has bragged about their Taycans not...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

And self drives this, and technology that, the list goes on. Also, it's "all *gas* cars" ;). Any competition not having to be purpose built racecars is going to be in the form of electric. A tri-motor Lucid Air sedan that can do a 9.3 in the quarter mile *may* be in the works, but they...

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

I would say it either opens it consistently or it doesn't open it at all. I've never had it only barely open it. I'd say it's likely your door mechanism is a tad inconsistent itself - which wouldn't be related to the mod. I've had problems in general with my phone consistently connecting to the...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

*Spoiler Alert* So basically Plaid S is as quick as a Formula 1 car in the 1/4 mile. That's pretty neat. Who would have thought just a few years ago that road legal production cars would reach that stage by now, much less doing so and costing less than 200k.
  39. MagnusMako

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

Normally when you pull the handle to open the door, the door opens itself. That's all this is doing, but just making it proximity based so it's more automatic.
  40. MagnusMako

    Ingenext Boost Modules [aftermarket]

I have already gone through this. To revert back, you simply power down the car, remove the mod hardware then reconnect the harness back to the MCU as it was originally and the car reboots back to the stock settings it was before. I don't think it's flashing anything to the inverter firmware. I...

2 permanent magnet motors in the new LR refresh, source of the higher performance?

I would imagine by adding the 3rd motor, they can distribute and modulate the power load between them better and thus mitigate the amount of torque ripple of each individual motor, thus enabling the harder acceleration. Or if that is not enough, then perhaps the torque ripple of one motor can be...
  44. MagnusMako

2 permanent magnet motors in the new LR refresh, source of the higher performance?

There aren't 3 motors in the LR. Launches are not as hard as previous gen Performance in the new LR (and specs as 3.1 to 60 confirm this), therefore torque ripple is a non-issue. They just moved peak power towards the top end and I think they've struck the balance everyone was wanting. That...

2 permanent magnet motors in the new LR refresh, source of the higher performance?

Some dyno graphs and CANbus readings would offer some welcome data points into the discussion for both the LR and Plaid. And cross comparisons to previous gen S and current 3.
  46. MagnusMako

Can anyone with a new LR post their experience?

This was posted in the Ordering subforum (wrong place imo) but is a brief comparison of the LR vs an M3P. The S appears to have stronger pull on both the low end and top end. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/m3p-vs-lr-model-s-refresh-real-runs.232861/

    New Model S concerns.

You said "Now all the doors have electronic releases instead of mechanical levers. "... I read this as they do not have mechanical levers., before you went on to say they require an "emergency mechanical mechanism" (I interpreted this as wishful thinking).
  48. MagnusMako

    New Model S concerns.

I agree, a physical mechanical lever would be a welcome safety addition for a car Tesla like's to brag about how safe it is.

    Model S Plaid Performance Thread

It's pretty neat to look at the 60-130 mph number and how it compares to the previous raven Model S Performance as well as other supercars (stock vs stock): Tesla Model S Performance (Raven): 9.4 seconds Tesla Model S Plaid: 4.67 seconds McLaren 765LT: 4.76 seconds Ferrari LaFerrari: ~5...

    Model S Plaid Performance Thread

I just don't think they would have enough time to develop, test and implement reliable cooling changes to such a new car they've only had what one week in their hands. I do believe UP has also worked closely with Tesla to improve their cars (as seeing also how they're an official repair shop...
