Front doors not flush with back doors (every Y on the lot).

It's pretty minor when I compare it to every other car I've owned other than my Model 3 (which is quite good).

Front doors not flush with back doors (every Y on the lot).

If that's the case, Tesla needs to advertise it as a feature.

Front doors not flush with back doors (every Y on the lot).

I went on the lot to inspect my VIN that's being delivered tomorrow and noticed that neither the driver or passenger doors close flush with the rear doors. I then inspected 5-6 other Ys and they were all exactly the same. Is this by design so that after use when the seals compress over time...

Water pours out of front after sitting in the rain

Totally normal. It's the rain drain from the windshield.

Induction Wheels collect water. Potential balance problems if it freezes to ice?

I went on the lot to check out Model Ys. I noticed that all of the induction wheels had collected a puddle of water on a lip inside the rim. No big deal, but my concern is that in the winter this could freeze and cause a fairly significant out of balance condition. Looks like it collects maybe...

Best way to calibrate autopilot cameras on new car?

I'm about to pick up a new Y. Is there a best way to calibrate the cameras during the first 10-50 miles? Highways vs. city streets. vs other roads?

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

The big battery (which appears to be in the LR cars for over a month+) is the most important from a practical standpoint. LR cars have been calculating 78-79kWh usable which indicates the 82kWh pack.

Does Tesla Nav consider elevation change when computing charging stops?

The energy graph is a work of art. I love that thing. It makes road tripping a breeze. Pro tip: When you plug in to supercharge, set your next destination and then bring up the trip graph, it will update in realtime to show you when you can make it to your destination. I charge until it shows...

Supercharger - Mojave, CA (LIVE 6 V2 stalls, V3 + Urban expansion in progress Apr 2021)

I wonder if these urbans are actually providing V2 speeds just with a different kiosk?

Model Y 2021 LR Range question

In the summertime, probably yes. Worst case is you need a 5 minute Supercharge which should add about 40-50 miles depending on if it is V2 or V3.

Leaving mobile charger exposed to the blazing sun

OP's question was about direct sunlight. Personally I'd put a sunshield up to shade it. I have experience with my UMC drastically reducing charge rate from baking in the sun, so yes it can overheat.

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

I'm sceptical, but happy because I'd love the new doors. Here's the post, seems like at least two people claim they've seen it:

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

Pretty sure that was a 3 on Reddit that had the updated door. It would be all over these boards if that were the case for the Y.

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

I'm being told my build date is 4/21...which I'm not sure if that is April 2021 or April 21, 2021. Anyway, the guy in the chat said no new headlights. I don't think they really know.
  17. ratsbew

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

My VIN is 179148...just a few ahead of yours. I'm anxiously waiting to see what shows up. Delivery is 8 May for me. Of course, the employee at Tesla told me 2 months ago that all cars had the new lights back then which I obviously knew wasn't true.

    Supercharger - Hannibal, MO

About a 0.5% chance. Last we saw the transformer wasn't installed yet. It normally takes a few weeks to commision them after the work is finished.

Mud flap effectiveness after 1.5k miles (or lack of)

Fascinating. Seems like a simple change to the type of plastic could make a big difference.
  20. ratsbew

Mud flap effectiveness after 1.5k miles (or lack of)

I guess I don't know that the expectation is with other new cars. Is this somehow uniquely a Tesla Model Y problem? I never expect something to stay pristine forever. Does anyone with new car experience from other brands have comments on how those cars hold up?

    Supercharger - Collinsville, IL

I have 400kWh of referral credits for Supercharging so I may end up coming up to Collinsville before they expire to use them up over the course of a few months. I head up there somewhat regularly so it won't be wasted trips.
  22. ratsbew

    Supercharger - Hannibal, MO

Wow! Fast progress! I'll be driving up there in the next few weeks. There is hope that it will be finished by then! Hopefully the STL Tesla group does a road trip up there to christen the site.

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

I've seen at least three people that calculated 78kWh+ on recent AWD Ys. Calculating 78+ usable means the 82kWh pack.
  24. ratsbew

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

You're in luck because from recent reports on here it sounds like the 82kWh pack is in the AWDs as of recent. I'm taking delivery of a VIN in the 179XXX range soon. I'm hoping for the bigger pack too.
  25. ratsbew

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

I don't doubt that was the goal. I wonder what happened to slow it down? Maybe the margins are so good and volume so high on the LR AWD Y that they are keeping the "cheaper" lights.
  26. ratsbew

Looks like price increased 500 just now.

Nice, I ordered my AWD Y during that tiny little period when it was $48,990. I delayed delivery so I won't take delivery until early May.
  27. ratsbew

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

Tesla is likely slowly raising prices in anticipation of a tax benefit. That way they can split the benefit with the customer.

Share destination to car from Google Maps when you have two Teslas

So I use the feature on my smartphone all the time where I share a location from Google Maps directly to my car so the navigation is already set when I get to the car. It's super useful and I recommend it if you've never used it before. I'm getting my second Tesla in a few weeks and I'm curious...

    MY LR New Features

Two posts in a row calculating 78+kWh usable. I think that is close to confirming 82kWh packs in the AWD.

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

I own a Model 3 and know that the "old" lights are already incredibly bright and good so I'm okay with having the same lights on the Y. Too bad though, I couldn't wait longer.

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

Not at all. It will be brand new off the line. They aren't sequential at all, only approximately.

My VIN just posted on my account. 179148...I'm not expecting them, but I'll let everyone know one way or another. I'm expecting delivery on May 7 or 8. I'm OP of this thread...I finally gave up on waiting.

    60% Daily Charge

Fascinating. I still think that I will go with a 60% daily charge in order to preserve the actual capacity of the pack. This will mostly be a city driver and we will use our older Model 3 for longer road trips. If I anticipate a long trip with the Y I will go through a calibration routine to...

How to pay day-of pickup to ensure no delay?

I'm picking up my new Y in the next few weeks. I already went on the website to get a feel for how the payment process will go. I don't want to pay until I see and inspect the car. I'm doing a cash payment. The MVPA says "The easiest way to pay for your Model Y is by electronic check, also...

    60% Daily Charge

So what happens if the BMS loses calibration and you want to drive a long distance? Say you charge to 100% but it only shows 260 miles (EPA), will you be able to travel farther (extract more kWh) than that as the car discovers that it has more capacity than it thought? I need to do a...

Possible to turn off passenger face vents?

I'm about 3 weeks out from receiving my Y and understand that the passenger side face vents don't blow air when there is no weight detected in the seat. Is there a UI option to turn them off when there IS a person in the passenger seat? My wife hates this about our Model 3 because she doesn't...

Could "Smart Shift" be a software update to old cars?

The only reason not to is to differentiate the new cars. The marginal cost to Tesla is zero.
  44. ratsbew

Smart Shift for Older S/X Models Possible?

I'd love to see this feature come to older 3/Y cars too. If it's just software build on the existing hardware then I don't see a reason that it couldn't. From a brand standpoint it helps emphasize that the cars are always evolving and getting better. If it's a toggle then you can always turn it off.
  45. ratsbew

Could "Smart Shift" be a software update to old cars?

This thought hit me yesterday. Is it possible that the new "smart shift" on the next gen S/X will be coming to older cars? It could be a simple toggle on/off in the settings. As a bonus, with the 3/Y they could repurpose the right stalk to control the wipers. Seems like a huge win and is...

2021 model Y scan my Tesla battery size

Can you do some quick math on the battery capacity? From the energy screen, take your average Wh/mile and multiply it by the current projected range. What Wh/mile are you getting on your road trip?

2021 model Y scan my Tesla battery size

Very interesting. So it's sounding like the LRs have the 82kWh pack! Langzaiguy, what happens if you do the math with SMT's more accurate battery percentage that includes a decimal?
