Any safety benefits of Model 3 AWD in Australia under normal driving conditions?

My reply to this post the other day was just to give the OP an insight into my own experience with weighing up this question, didn’t want to start a debate about what is better. So just to clarify if I had unlimited funds, would get AWD, but as I didn’t and I went with RWD, and never had any...

Any safety benefits of Model 3 AWD in Australia under normal driving conditions?

Not worth it. (IMO) I remember sweating over this when I purchased my S in 2016 and ended up going for RWD and don’t regret saving the money for a second. I changed my mind many times, thinking I’d be future proofing, maybe better resale, regret not getting the higher tier option or it’ll be...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Ha, that's funny. Did you get an update for it to change? So weird. Do you guys have connection problems, ie connecting to the vehicle via the app? My app will only connect if the car is charging or was awake for some reason. Has been like that since I had installed back in July. I'm thinking...

    Hey @EcoCloudIT does your wife‘s X have a new MCU2?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yep, not for me. The charge screen is just a basic white screen with only start/stop, amp selection and scheduled charging with no graphic or way to set a charge limit and start charging. Phone is the only way I can do it currently.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Home from holiday and updated Model S with upgraded MCU2, am I crazy but is the charge screen missing now? How do you set the charge % in car? Only possible in app? Can't seem to find any similar experiences from anyone online, maybe just an upgraded MCU2 issue? Bah!

MCU2 Upgrde and no AM or FM radio

Hey @Jimat I recently upgraded to the MCU2 and having a lot of connection issues, but I don’t think it’s the 4G module. 80% of the time the app doesn’t wake the car in my garage, and we live 800m from a Telstra 4G tower and wifi at home. Also while driving it regularly disconnects from the...

    Supercharger - Moe, Vic

Yep, Traralgon in my opinion would have been the preferred option, and probably Teslas too as it's still listed as Traralgon on the future supercharger map. The Moe Chargefox cables have been vandalised a couple of times apparently, you can bet the Tesla site in the middle of town will be a...

You’d think Traralgon (Moe??) wasn’t far away if they’re confident enough to update as Q3 when we’re coming up to halfway through Q3 already. 🤞🏼

    Superchargers in Australia

Me too. Tesla were targeting Q2 for Traralgon, which has come and gone so hoping is next on the agenda for them and not far away.

    Supercharger - Geelong, Vic

Tesla supercharger map has been updated to now show Q2 ETA for Geelong. Others pending in Vic don’t appear to have been bumped which is a good sign they’re on track I hope.

    Supercharger - Geelong, Vic

I was there about 2 weeks ago sniffing around and no sign of anything as yet. Not much left of Q1, wouldn’t it be great if it comes online next week and takes us by surprise in some off the radar location. (Yes, Friday drinks for me started early this afternoon. Cheers!🍺)
  16. bradjc

    Superchargers in Australia

Hehe, yep. And surely the Q1 estimates would be the ones they’d be most confident of happening on time. I’ve been waiting on Torquay/Geelong since I first had a test drive half a decade ago.

    MCU upgrade/replacement for early vehicles

Hey @Vegas glad your MCU2 upgrade went well, I'm hoping for the same! I have a 2016 Model S with AP1 and have just booked a MCU2 upgrade in a couple of weeks. Did your upgrade give you Sentry mode? I asked a Tesla tech and he said yes, but have seen others say no because not compatible with...

Yep, Barrabool Hills is my preference too. Closer to the Hwy and more amenities, seems more practical. Could see it here though. Hopefully we’ll find out soon which is great!

    Superchargers in Australia

Was passing through Geelong today and decided to visit Barrabool Hills Plaza to see if there was any hints of the previously rumoured charger site that could pop up. Nothing happening as far as I could tell. Not sure why I checked, I think I’m just mentally preparing for the annual bumping back...

Air Quality in Canberra worst in the world today.

And they installed for you @ShockOnT? That's a bargain. I had looked at just getting the filter @JayTee and doing it myself but would like the software update for the Bioweapon option in the MCU and imagine would need to be done by a tech.

Air Quality in Canberra worst in the world today.

I got a quote to get the bioweapon defence filter retrofit done at the Richmond service centre last Nov on a 2016 updated nose model S. They were asking $860 installed, decided it was a bit exy. @ShockOnT was the $350 including installation? Seems like a no brainer at that price.

    VIC Number Plates for sale

Ha! My AMPD plates surprisingly got wife approval, she didn't think it meant anything at all until I explained it's meaning so liked it was a bit cryptic, also she liked the idea of a smaller plate that was subtle. Would like to keep them but I don't have another vehicle to put them on so...

    VIC Number Plates for sale

I had a buyer but they just decided to pull out, so they're still available. Also the last buyer negotiated to $800 so will open up at that price ONO, so priced to sell. Perfect for a new Model 3 I reckon! Get in touch if keen!

Supercharger - Great Ocean Road VIC

I think chargers need to be in ‘hub’ locations on a hwy etc, my vote would be for Geelong, and not buried in a suburb somewhere. Geelong would allow access to the Great ocean road, Torquay, Lorne, Apollo Bay, and also is within 200kms to Warrnambool/Ballarat/Melb so would be my vote. If it was...

I'm still baffled by the location of these, not the easiest to find or access. I'm not ungrateful they're happening and am sure it't not easy to secure a location. But first time users should allow an extra 10 mins to hunt for them, especially if the shopping centre is busy waiting for people...

What Is Your First Memory of Tesla

Great question! I remember reading an article about a new company that was predicted to quickly go broke making a flashy red electric modified Lotus for big money and that George Clooney was a believer and bought one. Interesting but didn't really think much of it until a bit later in 2009 I...
