Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Its a crystal ball game but I wouldn’t think they’re going to stop depreciating like they did for a while. Motorway suggests standard year 1 is 15-30%. You’ve had your 15% after six months but who knows what happens next?

Tesla Vision - Removal of UltraSonic Sensors

I’ve been driving for thirty five. It’s difficult not to admit that cars have got more difficult to place. They’re bigger, glass area is smaller, pillars are much thicker (all for safety). Rear wipers are out of fashion for aerodynamic reasons. Tumblehome (the curve of the body) is greater for...

Tesla Supercharger M40 Warwick (north bound)

But it has to be Together in Electric Dreams. Despite the fact Moroder had a hand in a V16 super car back in the day… Seriously having seen how much busier superchargers have got over the few years I’ve been using them, queueing is going to become a MAJOR issue very quickly at all EV Charging...

Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

I think the reason for the price crash is that they’re not selling. I’ve had an idea of what I wanted to swap for and I’ve been WBAC’ing them too: gentle decrease over six months but nothing like what we’ve seen.
  7. C

Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

And, being pedantic, it’s £40k *asking* price. We’ve no idea what selling prices are unless one of us reports what we’ve achieved.

There's a groundswell here trying to save you from that 100,000-miler!!!

Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

The markets not the same as our energy markets not the same. We’re buying your fracked gas to keep electricity generation running. Supercharger rates have tripled in the last six months and domestic rates pretty much the same. I maintain the UK second hand market (which means traders) have...

Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Given my recent WBAC quote for a 2020, 20k performance - it’s further up in this thread and it’s about £35k - I’m afraid this is wishful thinking. Teslas have dropped very hard in the last two months, much harder than other models and while some is the correction that was obviously coming I am...

Only thing falling quicker than second hand values is the share price…

To be fair they’ve accepted the horrible quality feel and decided to …. Get rid of stalks 🤣🤣🤣 I can’t help but think it’s a bit of an Emperor’s New Clothes moment for Tesla right now

    Buying a used, 100,000 mile Model 3

So far as the issue you raised is concerned, I've shown you what the rock bottom (WBAC) value of a 100,000 miles 2020 M3P is. Expect a M3LR to be less. The cheapest 2020 LR on Autotrader is a private sale 102k mile asking £33,490. I think that's fantasy land. The next cheapest is a 43k miler...

    Buying a used, 100,000 mile Model 3

WBAC’s price for mine, yesterday, was £35k. That’s a 2020 pre refresh M3P with 19k miles. Values have definitely caught up with expected depreciation and then some in the last month or so. IMO the car you’re looking at isn’t nearly cheap enough. Here’s the WBAC for mine with 100k

Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

No it’s not bad news because cars depreciate and I’ve been watching the temporary suspension of gravity with astonishment rather than by trying to tell myself I was a financial genius. Do I wish I’d got out in August? Probably. Does it bother me? No, I’d have just put a chunk of extra cash into...

Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

My 2020 P with 20k is now £35k on WBAC and £41k from Tesla itself. Each down more than ten grand since August and WBAC five on the month. Good job the taxman paid half of it in the first place!

EV's to pay Road Tax from April 2025

Given that a base Honda e is now almost almost £37k, I cant see Tesla pricing a model 2 at under £40k even if it came out tomorrow

Share experience selling used car on Motorway and Webuyanycar

I went through the Motorway process but didn't sell in the end as offers were much lower than the "reserve" (which isn't a reserve). But in terms of the experience, the people at Motorway were really helpful, straightforward and the offer I did get (from a local dealer) was £3k higher than WBAC...

You'd be surprised how little; I always use Chill on trips with family in the car and on motorway trips it makes no difference at all.

EV's to pay Road Tax from April 2025

I’ve got no problem with this. The zero VED was designed to nudge behaviour change. Behaviour is changing and if the quoted 2025 figures turn out to be true, beyond tipping point. In short if 50% of new cars are electric, I think that it’s pretty sensible to tax them. Though given what I’m...

    Range opinions?

Your figures are really impressive - I’ve always taken those with an pinch of salt when they come from someone who does 1800 miles a year - and would remove the one thing, beyond the wipers,TACC, incessant bonging, that really spoils it for me: the awful range. Be really interesting to see long...

    Range opinions?

Exactly in line with my experience. I never get more than 1%=2 miles in a 2020 M3P, driving it like … er… a car on motorways (usually sit at 75-77). I did exactly 100 miles today from Hopwood Park home, and used 49.7%

Tesla Vision - Removal of UltraSonic Sensors

This is a thoughtful and considered post and I'm doing it a disservice by only quoting this line, but there surely comes a time when, if no one else has adopted the same solution you have, you have to ask if it was the right decision; instead of pigheadedly continuing to (say) use a fork to eat...

🐶 I can see that it doesn't bother you and you're prepared to trust Tesla, and that's fine. Personally, I wouldnt trust Tesla if it promised to feed my goldfish when I went on holiday. Doesn’t take much if that’s a low wall or your dog, does it? JLR also have plenty of more bluff fronted products and the LR sells a lot better than the J these days

Never once had “camera blocked or blinded” message cancelling the cruise control or spoiling the birds eye parking assist, but happily the latter has ultrasonics too

Tesla Vision - Removal of UltraSonic Sensors

JLR have cameras above the front number plate where it can actually see what’s in front of the bonnet. It doesn’t rely on a high level camera where the bonnet masks the view. Never thought I’d be saying a JLR tech solution just works, but this one does.

Not sure about that… got 36.5 yesterday and 36.6 today and did 200 miles with the family in foul weather when the wipers not working is a real problem when passing lorries throwing spray… yes you can keep pressing and yes sometimes you can select manual (though mine threw a 15m hissy fit when it...

FWIW attempted theft is a crime and as to the full or attempted offence there doesn’t have to be permanent deprivation merely an intention permanently to deprive at the time of the taking but this really is one of those upsetting incidents (men on balaclavas on your driveway?!?!😱) that has zero...

    What's your Tesla (origin) story?

I have been a car guy and surprised friends when I was interested in (and liked the look of) the Model S when it came out. But too much money, too big, never thought of buying one. Was waiting for the 3 and when the reveal came HATED the look. But then it became clear it was as fast as only...
