Number plate with rear bike carrier, ideas?

I’ve done a fair drive today with just a number plate hanging back there. Seems like a reasonable effort. In other news, I expected efficiency to take a bit of a hit but holy cow, it’s like driving with a parachute back there!!!

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

Hey Mike, I guess I'd have to drive your car! Mine certainly feels as though it behaves like yours during regular driving, but I have to reverse into my driveway downhill, if your 2021 can perform a slow and controlled reverse descent to a smooth stop followed by some feathering to make fine...

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

What's clear to me, is that whatever is happening here isn't clear in the logs. But I'm not going to argue with anyone about it.

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

While this is true, the car doesn't necessarily only apply power to the motor when told to. Example is when you reverse down hill slowly and come to a stop by releasing the pedal, the car applies momentary forward power before applying the brakes. Anywho, I haven't had a repeat incident of this...

Number plate with rear bike carrier, ideas?

Hey folks, I've got the Thule RaceWay 2 boot mount bike rack for my Model 3, I've protected the contact points with helicopter tape and the thing seems to work acceptably. I've done a short journey with a couple of bikes on there. Only problem I have is that it obscures the rear number plate...

VanMoof S3 in Model 3 Boot?

I know it's not the question you're asking, but my experience with the Model 3 is that you'll get just about any bike in, but even a little one you'd need to take the front wheel off. I've a "Large" gravel bike and it fits without the front wheel.

Phantom braking getting bad. (TACC/AP) [Not AEB]

I just don't use and of the driver assist features unless I'm alone in the car. It's just too unpredictable and passengers get angry with me when it phantom brakes or aborts a lane change for no reason. Last time I used it, I got two fairly severe phantom braking incidents on one 15 mile...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

So your saying they’re only changing the side glass right? The windscreen, top, and rear glass are already laminated.

Which parts of the existing Model 3 aren't already laminated? The windscreen certainly is...

    Total braking system failure?

I totally agree, a non-powered braking system and a powered system with loss of power are totally different animals, as is also the case with non-powered steering and power steering with loss of power. But hey, everyone always knows better right?!

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

I've had some time to play about trying to reproduce this, and I can reliably get the regen to not kick in for maybe half a second after lifting my foot off, but have not been able to reproduce a forward lurch. I've logged the incident with Tesla with a time-stamp. Will be interested to hear...

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

Ok, so this is weird. Perhaps someone can tell me if my theory is BS... My alarm just went off for no reason at all after an hour not being in the car, I verified sentry mode footage, the camera triggered but with no reason. I park on a hill, tilt alarm is on... So... The car clearly has a...

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

No, absolutely not, both hands were firmly on the wheel and I was paying complete attention. Had I not been, the garage would have a nice dent in their fuel price signage. Thankfully the brakes work 100% as advertised...

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

I am going to try to do this and reproduce the problem, I honestly don’t expect you guys to go on the word of a random stranger. All I can tell you is that I know what *I* did, and what happened as a result, the reason I post about it is just to see if there is anything new and useful to add to...

I’m afraid you lose a dollar. This categorically did *not* happen.
  21. M

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

This is a really fair question, and I know it's hard to take a random person's word for it, but as it was on the flat (as opposed to downhill), I am positive it accelerated rather than "not regen". But, I'm going to try and find any empty space to try things out, see if I can get steps to...

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

I've been really skeptical about every report I've seen about it, but if I hadn't been quick on the brakes, I'd have crashed into the big sign displaying the prices at the local fuel station, and then I *would* have been one of those news stories. And because I *was* feathering the accelerator...

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

I have mobile service booked for a couple of weeks time, do you think they'll be able to look at the logs?
  24. M

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

So I know what responses this is going to get, because I have made the same responses. I’m going to send my experience as follows to Tesla and try to reproduce in a safe environment. I was driving forward into a parking space, on the flat, feathering the accelerator to creep forward (I use hold...

Yeah, Tesla replaced the entire glass panel with a new one just to fix this.

It's the radio, Tesla somehow broke mine during service work and needed to replace the rear glass to fix it properly.

    Anything I'll miss upgrading to "just" a M3 SR+ from Audi A4?

I got a trade in quote for mine after 10 months and Tesla will give me around 90% of what I paid for it. I've never heard of that with an ICE car? Also, what people are selling for and what people are prepared to buy for defines the value, nothing else does.
  31. M

    Anything I'll miss upgrading to "just" a M3 SR+ from Audi A4?

I'd echo others' advice who have suggested trying one if you're unsure. You won't get any other balanced opinion, and what you do get probably won't apply to your personal circumstances. I've had an SR+ for 10 months, and not yet thought about the range. The sound system seems pretty good to me...

    3rd party Heads up Displays

Whatever floats your boat. Personally, my body shape has always meant that in a comfortable seating and steering wheel position, the top of the wheel has been cutting off the top of the binnacle, this has been really apparent to me when I've had to have loan cars recently, so I love the...

    3rd brake light not working...

I'm sorry to say that I've no idea. I spent ages looking before I took it in, couldn't find any way to access from underneath, so I guess they have to take the parcel shelf apart. I'll find out at some point if the rattle back there doesn't go away because I'm just going to keep pulling at...

Yep, it simply wasn't connected. SC connected it up while I waited.

Teslafi - battery report. Should I be concerned?

Follow up, seems from a German thread online that SR+ Nominal Full Pack should be more like 50.x so I’m about 3kWh down. So about 94% current health based on kWh, whereas 215 of 240 is more like 90%. 10% degradation worse case, since Aug 2019 and 8k miles. Not complaining, just sharing the numbers.
  36. M

Teslafi - battery report. Should I be concerned?

So I have received my OBD II adapter and fired up Scan My Tesla, the Nominal Full Pack is reported at 47.5kWh on my SR+ (yet my 100% range is only 215 miles), kWh sounds right, and would suggest no degradation at all... *shrug*
  37. M

Teslafi - battery report. Should I be concerned?

Yep, totally agree with all that I’m probably going to pick up an OBD adapter though, so I can at least see what kWh the car *thinks* it has.
  38. M

Teslafi - battery report. Should I be concerned?

I’ve always just assumed that the API reports the percentage and rated range, and that TeslaFi just does the basic divide rated by percentage then multiply by 100. The numbers come out the same as doing the calculation myself.
  39. M

Teslafi - battery report. Should I be concerned?

Just not in the same way that the estimated range does, it might make a little bit of difference to rated range, but my rated highs and lows don’t correlate with temperature *at all*.

    Free premium Connectivity ending

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve not found the Bluetooth audio quality to be very good. Perhaps it’s because the speakers are so much better that I notice it more in this car than my old car, but Spotify streaming directly vs Spotify streaming over Bluetooth is quite different!
  41. M

    Free premium Connectivity ending

I have no choice as the cable connecting my DAB/FM aerial is completely broken :( So I rely on TuneIn radio.
  42. M

Teslafi - battery report. Should I be concerned?

Every time I check this chart on my SR+ it worries me a bit, I only have 215 miles. There is a misconception that this figure depends on temperature, driving habits etc., but that's not true. However, I don't often let the SoC get below maybe 40% so perhaps it's within calibration and balancing...

Yeah, I am worried about the rear elasticated section strapped around the painted part of the bumper :(
  49. M

Model 3 cover available in the UK

I've washed, waxed and covered mine, I'm including photos to show the charge flap, and that the rear straps can be teased into the wheel arches so they don't touch paint. They're pretty soft straps anyway... I'm happy with it, it's fairly sheltered from wind where it's parked anyway. Aaaaand...
