Window blew itself off track on the highway

Same exact experience way back in 2016. About 40 mph cross winds while also going 70 mph. Had to pull over and pull up the window. SC later recalibrated the window and it has not had an issue since, but I also have not tried to lower the window in strong cross winds again. :)

4 kW Tesla solar install (with existing solar) and Powerwall addition and what I learned

Turns out Level 2+ can see the Solar Roof inverter by itself. So hopefully more monitoring can take place. But for completeness I did turn off the other solar systems for the day so I can at least have a place for someone to go to at a lower level. (ie customer support).

4 kW Tesla solar install (with existing solar) and Powerwall addition and what I learned

NO. And in fact I am having an issue with Tesla on just this problem. My new Tesla Solar Roof is not performing adequately. Calling Tesla support and they can only see the aggregate and don't even acknowledge I have other solar systems tied into the gateway. So what they see looks better than...

    Comprehensive USB Bug List

Well now there is reportedly a 2020.48.37.2. I still have not installed 2020.48.37.1 yet. So if anyone gets the .2 and has album art again (doubtful), please post.

Adding Breakers to Panel, Turn Off Inverter or Disconnect?

Well then you shut down the main panel breaker from the grid and that in theory would shut down all the inverters, but I would throw the blade disconnects too, just in case. Now if you have Powerwalls or some other ESS then you have another set of issues.

Adding Breakers to Panel, Turn Off Inverter or Disconnect?

You have not stated where the energy monitoring system is being placed. Between the panel breaker and the blade switch, the blade switch and the inverter, somewhere else? A single line diagram would be nice to see.

    PG&E maintenance power off

The only difference is how long it takes them to activate. If they are already supplying power, for example during peak for Cost Savings, then you would not see a blink or a flash in your power. But if they were, for example charging, then there will be a brief delay while they switch modes to...

I just looked at mine and it's still off from me cycling it off at the end of the last event. I'll leave it off until tomorrow AM (off peak).

    Fun Solar Numbers

Those could be just rounding errors since the CTs are not really revenue grade. One problem with the chart is that I would like to see how home consumption is offset. Its pretty straight forward when its either solar, PW or grid, but sometimes its a combination (i.e. see your blue spikes).

    earthquake

Got the phone alert but never felt a thing. You would think at 60 miles of solid rock I would have detected a 6.0. EDIT: The immediate report for me was a 6.0 but it appears that it was only a 4.7 hence why I did not detect it.

Cooling Strategies with PV + ESS

I have seen studies where it makes sense financially but not for all the other factors. With PWs it probably makes no sense now. But I do shift my temps by 2 degrees during peak periods. A carryover from before the PWs. I should probably do some investigation to see if that makes sense...

Cooling Strategies with PV + ESS

We see the charts but what about the numbers and comfort? Were you more comfortable one way or the other? What was the differential in energy? Also what about the export differential and loss of trade value for the 2nd day? Any way to quickly estimate your costs between the two days?

received EV -> EV2 transition letter [Discussion: CA Rate plans and PV or PV+Storage]

But that have plenty of tricks up their sleeve. I was GF for NEM1 too, but not for EV1. So I could pick if I had an app for new solar within the target that would force NEM2. I choose EV1 over EV2 even though I could have stayed on NEM 1 with EV2. I thought (think?) that EV1 is a better payout...

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

How do you (the system?) define High Load? Would it be a percent of the solar capacity or the PW power?
  17. aesculus

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

I forget what the PW Gateway does as it starts to get full. Does anyone have a frequency capture over time as the PWs go from about 90% to 97% SoC?
  18. aesculus

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

I have two Fronious which trip at 60.5. I have one Delta M but I have not checked what its trip frequency is. How does the "gradual" production work? Does your inverter have multiple strings it can add and subtract? My two Fronious are one string each and my Delta has two "strings". The...

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

You can check the specs on-line for every inverter. But newer ones actually trip out between 59.5 and 60.5 Hz. So even at 62 Hz Tesla is being super generous. I sort of wish you could tune your inverters within a range. So for example I have three inverters and it would be great to have each...

received EV -> EV2 transition letter [Discussion: CA Rate plans and PV or PV+Storage]

My first small solar system (2.5 kW) was designed to keep my E7 (even sweeter than E6) system from ever going into Tier 3. It worked wonderfully until PG&E yanked that plan away. That is their magic. If something ever gets too good they lawyer up with the PUC and build rate cases against what...

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

Always have something you tested and does not work at the higher frequency. Best to tell them x device needs y frequency or lower. They won't adjust something just because you want it that way. And even then there were some lighting devices that they basically blew off on my lowering demands...

    Storm Watch Engaged NorCal 5/1/2021

On my Android phone my notification comes as an icon in the phones alert bar. I am in Cost Savings mode. Storm Watch Engaged NorCal 5/1/2021

I did not notice this but mine was in storm watch too. Looks like it went on at 4pm so my batteries were fairly full then anyway. Probably only charged for 10 minutes or so, so no big hit on the power consumption side.

Pretty sure all those do is cycle the compressor. Your fan will still run. But they are only intended to cycle off for 15 minutes or so in an hour, a few times, not keep a unit off for hours.

PG&E changes 110% of usage rule to 100%

This is Tesla's go to procedure on all solar installs I think. They did it on mine even though I could prove otherwise. And another issue if you try to use your bills is that if you have existing solar your usage will be reduced by that much so it's not very scientific the way they have it set...

    My Small Solar Roof Project

Well now that my PTO is active and I can legally send power back to PG&E, my 5+ kW solar roof is putting out about 500 Watts at 3:30 PM on a sunny, cloudless day at 80* F. I have an even bigger issue: My backup panel is maxed out with the number of breakers it has for PWs, solar inverters and the backup load. Why No Location Aware Trunk Opening Height ?

Mine does not open fully in my garage. It uses the same sensor as the roof one. But you cannot override it with the SW if that is what you are getting at. Back in the day you would set it by positioning it where you wanted it and then press and hold the button on the hatch until it beeped.

Is A/C motor really this loud?!

Some of the early X's had crossed compressor lines but I think by 2017 they fixed them all. The MX can be very loud on 90+F days when sitting stationary like at a Supercharger. Not sure if you have a 6/7 seat car and was the rear A/C on too?
