Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Agreed, IO stops the charge only once it has created the overnight schedule and the car's currently not in it (otherwise it will happily let it continue and you'll get a super cheap tariff outside of normal hours). The only problem, again, is that now polling Is so random that it can take...
  3. W

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Wdym? You've just got a schedule for that? If you're not home then what triggered it? It's also dependent on your vehicle current charge level vs requested target so I assume it's currently very low?
  4. W

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Just thinking outside the box, I don't believe I've seen that IO requires the 'main' Tesla account to be used. So here's a workaround (option 4 :D ). Maybe what you could do is create a second Tesla account with a new email address. Add it as an additional driver for your new model Y, and use...

MY Quicksilver Paint - will we get it in UK

It's only available at the "most advanced paint shop in the world" that is Giga Berlin. As all RHD are made in Shanghai, it will depend if eventually RHD production for the UK will be relocated there or not... Afaik Tesla hasn't made any announcements yet in that regard.

    [UK] 2022.44

You’re welcome not to use it. It’s all about giving the end user options. I’m able to dictate texts beautifully from my phone, yet get a terrible experience behind the wheel using Tesla commands, that’s really a step back..

    [UK] 2022.44

What is there to be excited about? Twitter app in the car? Dolby Atmos? meh... Apple Music.. ok... From that list, the only (unlikely) item I would actually love is Alexa, given how crappy the voice commands recognition and text dictation currently is, or at the very least, the ability to...

    [UK] 2022.44

My uneducated guess would be yes, since it's not using cameras, the car can fully go to sleep. Only the alarm will wake it up and then allow video recording... So you'll most likely get footage of a thief breaking a window but not someone keying your car. At least it's a small improvement from...

Are you sure you haven't misread 40.4.2 with 44.2? It was just out last week so that would mean you had a day of sw release vehicle, would seem pretty unusual. The first cars that got 44.2 were on Dec.3rd according to TeslaFi..

That’s most likely when the phone is set up as a key but not linked to auto set a driver profile. If you go on the car settings and Keys check that your wife phone listed has the persona icon with her profile name underneath. Otherwise as you described it will just unlock the car and stay on...

I thought it was also inducing a stronger regen braking than the other two modes but I may be mistaken?
  14. W

    Winter with a Tesla

One that might not be covered by the otherwise very extensive first post. While driving on snow/wintry conditions, would you change the regen braking from the preferred « Hold » to either Creep or Roll? To reduce any potential chances of skating when releasing the accelerator pedal Or is this...

There is usually a memory inside your smart meter. It should be able to store locally the last 10 days usage in 30 min increments and can transmit them afterwards so that shouldn't be the case.
  16. W

    Winter with a Tesla

You probably forgot max heated seats & steering wheel which are an even bigger drain on the battery vs. the heat pump climate. :D
  17. W

    Winter with a Tesla

Short trips are definitely a range-killer, in general, and particularly in winter. <190mi total range in MYLR after a week of doing just 1.5 miles daily commute each way. I must admit I love to preheat the cabin in the morning...

    Who Wins?

If both phones are within range it's mostly down to luck / who was the last driver. If you want to maximise chances driver needs pull the handle first while the other one stays a couple steps behind. Or you need to act fast to switch profiles on the screen if it got it wrong and you don't...

Driving Your Tesla in the Snow

Yes Model Y has an Off=Road mode that isn't in the 3. Different from Slip Start though, and you can combine both. Hope that's not gonna be my trip to the Alps later next month :D
  23. W

Driving Your Tesla in the Snow

Would that be automatically triggered from normal mode or would you have to enable off-road assist first? From the manual : Let's say you're on a country road where there is a fine layer of snow/slush. Are you better off in off-road, allowing wheels to slip, or without... I'm not sure tbh...

    Winter with a Tesla

I’ve noticed in this colder weather that my car doesn’t go to sleep as fast as it used to. Generally it now stays awake for about an hour after I park home. It used to be pretty much instant. (Looking at Tessie stats) Any idea of what (if weather related) could keep it that way? That’s...

No way to remote start heated wipers?

It’s all in the title. Was looking for it the other day now that freezing temp days are coming, but it would seem you can only start heated windscreen wipers from the car, and not from the app… Seems like a huge overlook since that’s really the feature you would need if you need to remotely...

EV's to pay Road Tax from April 2025

It's not 'for 5 years' as in from now. It means you are paying the surcharge for 5 consecutive years from the first reg date. So as it will kick in in 2025, if you purchase a new Tesla from April 25, you'll end up paying VED+EC Supplement every year until 2030, then VED only

    Winter with a Tesla

Sorry, I'm still stuck on the tyres issue: We know our MYLR came with Geminis 255/45/19/104Y OEMs. So 104 as load index, as it's a particularly heavy vehicle, but Y seems like an overkill as it's a rating for up to 186mph(300kmh). The MYLR rated top speed is 135mph as per Tesla specs...

what's the trick to get autopark to work?!

Yes, that's often when it will prompt on the big screen on its own. But I've found you have to pay attention to the (too) discreet P circled in grey, that will appear on the edge of the visualisation screen when passing next to a parked car, then it will bring up the autopark prompt.

OEM 20" alloy as spare wheel?

I'm not sure I'm getting it? In case of puncture, you are considering driving a car where one of the two axles would have your current 18" on one side and your 20" OEM 'spare tyre' on the other? For a few hundred miles, including motorway speeds, abroad? Did I get this right? I would absolutely...

Tesla Vision - Removal of UltraSonic Sensors

That's bullsh*t, and proof they don't really know what they're talking about. They've mixed up Tesla Vision disabling radar for Autopilot on 2022.24 with USS. There's no update disabling USS 'at this time', to quote Tesla's marketing crap.
  39. W

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

Yes I know about the manual release handle but I was specifically referring the electronic button for that reason, that could be disabled when the car is locked and parked. And therefore should be, through a future software update, to improve security.

    Q4 collections, tales and experiences

It won't be registered until your collection day. They do that in case you don't show up and can reassign the car to a new owner without having to go through a lengthy process of amending the first registration documents with DVLA. Use the manual make/model selection forms for Eurotunnel and...

Tesla Vision - Removal of UltraSonic Sensors

Welcome to Tesla. All cars manufactured after Oct 1st will be considered '2023'. Model year has no impact on what features cars will or will not have, it's a case of what's left in the parts bin at the time.
  42. W

Tesla Vision - Removal of UltraSonic Sensors

It it doesn't bother every other manufacturer whose cars can complete an autopark manoeuvre when the cameraman is in the same vicinity, then we can both agree it's an issue on Tesla's part, no?
  43. W

    Q4 collections, tales and experiences

Summer tyres I'm afraid. Hankook Ventus if you have 19", Michelin Pilot Sport if 20". Unless it's new for 2023 models, I haven't heard of any all season tyres that match speed and load specs for TMYs Geminis (104Y). You can find some CrossClimate on 104H at best but none will have the T0 OEM mark.
  44. W

Tesla Vision - Removal of UltraSonic Sensors

Yes but in real life conditions at times there will be pedestrians standing on the pavement while you'll want to autopark. It's a stupid Tesla behaviour to freeze all car movement if a pedestrian is detected even 30 feet away...

    3rd party charging network

Absolutely. Everywhere in Europe on Type 2 or CCS Combo chargers. But for rapid charges on motorway, Tesla network will most likely be the cheapest option. The only 'adapter' that might come in handy is a no-fees abroad credit card so you don't get charged 3% non-Sterling when using both...

    Model Y UK Delivery

Right now there are no proven benefits in getting the upgraded cameras, but there are known disadvantages to not getting USS (loss of Park Assist, Autopark, Summon, Smart Summon, and of course all the beeps and visual range alerts), and no date in sight on if and when TV will supposedly make up...

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

You mean manual release on front doors? Havent tried but I was under the impression the single electronic button is also still functional when the car is locked, and that's my issue. I would tend to think it's fairly easy to press it from outside using the old wire hanger method, while it would...

Valuation Tesla Model S - Free charging

My opinion is, to the right buyer, it may be worth what you are requesting. At half that, 5k, I may even be tempted, so it will depend if you are patient enough to find the right one. In summary, how desperate are you to sell the car, how quickly and do you have a deadline? Otherwise I would...

Valuation Tesla Model S - Free charging

£10k seems excessive to me, unless you are targeting buyers with very high motorway mileage (and given your 40k miles 2017 S I would say that's not your situation either). Quick maths but even assuming £30 worth of supercharging per week (since the recent price increase at avg. 0.66kWh that's...
