Yeah, scammers are going to scam....or at least try to scam. It's a jungle out there.:)

Forgot to say......anyone can easily find a VIN just by entering your license plate number into an app. Give me your license plate info and I'll give you your VIN. EDIT: I pulled this image off of Google. Using the plate number, I know this is a 2018 Model 3, VIN 5YJ3E1EA7F058552

Vehicle fraudulently transferred out of account without permission

Some states have the VIN on the registration sticker in the windshield. NY has had that for decades... And on many cars (not sure about Telsa though), the VIN can be found all over the car on many panels, so it can be easy to find it if you know where to look, even if the VIN plate at the base...

How to deal with phantom braking?

That's actually a really good idea and something that could easily be implemented. Who knows, maybe that will be on a future software update.
  6. White Shadow

How to deal with phantom braking?

Okay, sure. LOL Tesla pretty much invented phantom braking. It's a big problem for them and they've been investigated by the NHTSA. I know that Nissan had an issue too with their Rogue. But the fact of the matter is that it's not a big problem for any other automaker. Does that mean it can't...

How to deal with phantom braking?

My daily drivers are an Audi and a Jeep. We also have an Acura. All three have adaptive cruise control and some form of self-driving capabilities. None have ever had any phantom braking issues. It's simply not an issue.
  8. White Shadow

How to deal with phantom braking?

All cars do not do it. Not by a long shot. I'm not saying it's only Tesla, but it's most definitely not all cars.

Supercharging now more expensive than ICE

So now "relative' means "the same thing" Okay...lol....I feel like I'm debating mental midgets here. Electricity is absolutely a commodity. That was my point in the first place. Trying to disprove that is nothing but noise. So feel free to be noisy, okay?

Supercharging now more expensive than ICE

Then I guess energy is (not) relative to power? 🤣

I looked at both of those and Saber is higher quality. But honestly, choose what you like. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Anyone worried about the value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Cars depreciate. That's what they do. The rate of depreciation isn't all that significant in the grand scheme of things. Personally, I don't even think about depreciation, as it's not a factor for me at the time of purchase. I expect to lose a bunch of value as any car ages and the miles pile on.

Sometimes. But if I have to stop, it's 5 minutes to pee max, then back on the highway...

Garage Flooring Tiles - Video + Photos

The garage cabinets are made by Saber. The owner used to work for a high-end tool cabinet company and then started his own business to build/sell decent quality cabinets at reasonable pricing geared toward homeowners. Overall, the cabinets really are pretty nice, especially for the price. The...

Supercharging now more expensive than ICE

Electricity is a commodity. There's no such thing as "electricity for cars" as you put it. Electrical energy is electrical energy and it's absolutely a commodity. Electrical energy can be purchased, sold, traded. It's considered a secondary energy source since it has to be derived from...
  18. White Shadow

Are supercharging road trips time consuming?

Yes, of course. 16 hours start to finish....not 16 hours of driving time. I was talking about getting to my destination quickly, so I figured it was obvious that I meant 16 hours start to finish. If you read my original comment, I said "...the drive took 16 hours covering more than 1100 miles in...

Are supercharging road trips time consuming?

Driving is always my preference over flying, unless it's a drive that takes me more than 24 hours. There's also the advantage of having my car with me and no restrictions that you deal with flying.
  20. White Shadow

Are supercharging road trips time consuming?

Sorry, but I don't agree at all. I've mad a similar trip with my cousin in his M3 LR and it took MUCH longer.
  21. White Shadow

Are supercharging road trips time consuming?

This is an interesting discussion. For me, a road trip is about getting to my destination. I prefer to get there as fast as possible. My last road trip was from New York to Florida (and back) and the drive took 16 hours covering more than 1100 miles in my Audi only stopping for gas and to eat &...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

The small thing is a bit of an issue for me too (I'm tall, so small cars can be a challenge). And I'm also not big on convertibles, but the Miata now comes in the hardtop version, which is for sure the one I'd get if I decided to buy the car. It's a little heavier, but it looks so much better to...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Yeah, lightweight batteries are the key. Somehow I don't think we'll see that happen anytime soon.
  24. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Yeah, there's a lot to be said about lighter weight vehicles. To me, they are always more fun than heavier vehicles. Unfortunately, cars are getting fatter every year and EVs are no exception. A Miata is a lot of fun to drive, but I just wish they had a little more power to go with that lighter...

Anybody miss Tesla's Silver paint option?

Really? I love black trim. It's a really popular thing these days and I think it looks great on all colors. In the world of Audi, it's called the "Black Optics" package and it basically blacks out everything that would otherwise be aluminum or sometimes even chrome finish. I particularly like...

Teslas in Calif. with no front plate: Question

I've heard that people will tint their car illegally or leave off the front plate (small violations like those) for a cop to have something "smaller" to write up instead of a speeding ticket, for example. I'm not sure how well that works, but I was with a friend of mine when he got pulled over...

Teslas in Calif. with no front plate: Question

I've lived in NY for my entire life other than the last seven years when I moved to NJ. I've never had a front plate on any of my cars and I've never gotten a ticket for it either. I even got a speeding ticket in my M3 (BMW M3, not Tesla) and had no front plate and the cop didn't ticket me for...

Anybody miss Tesla's Silver paint option?

I've owned several silver cars over the years and really liked how they tend not to show dirt. Somehow, they almost always look clean. But I eventually got bored of silver and moved on. Really, it's kind of a bland color. It seems like 80% of the cars on the roads are black, white, silver, and...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Offcial pictures are out. It's not pretty, that's for sure. Well, I guess looks are subjective, but I'm thinking most people will think it's not a good looking car. The rear end is a disaster.

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Yeah, for sure the newer Audi models from the last 10 years or so have a much improved ride quality. The smaller models like the A3/S3/RS3 still seems a bit crashy to me when it comes to handling bumps, but the other bigger cars have a nicely refined ride. That's one of my favorite things about...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

That's the first time I've ever heard (read) anyone say that about the standard range car. I thought the only complains were from owners of the Performance model. And from what I've heard, the newest Performance Model 3 cars are being built with softer springs to make the ride more tolerable...

I've love to see a Model 3 Plaid.
  36. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Yeah, like I said...the A3 is a smaller car than the Model 3. A better size comparison is the Model 3 and the Audi A5. They are pretty much the same dimensions. Inside, the Audi is still tighter, but that's the way Germans tend to build their cars....with a "tight" cockpit type feel.
  37. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Yeah, it's important to actually build a car rather than just mod it to go faster. That's part of the game for sure. Done right, you can build a reliable car that goes like hell. Unfortunately, too many people just try to take shortcuts and go for whatever power adders they can without...
  38. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

The A3 is a smaller car than the Model 3. As for Audi, A3 is smaller than A5 and the A5 is smaller than an A4. But the A5 is a 2-door car (although they did start making an A5 4-door sedan, which I always thought was really pointless when you have the A4 already) The A3 has always been a 4-door...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

In all honesty, I've never had a car with a DSG. My performance cars have always been manual because that's the way I enjoy them. And over the years I've learned how to completely rebuild a manual gearbox, as well as replace a clutch. The DIY guy always has a cost advantage when it comes to not...
  41. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

True, but LOL @ warranty. If speed is your thing, then modifications are the name of the game. So you either wait until the warranty is expired, or you live dangerously and take responsibility for your own car if something should fail.
  42. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Incorrect. First, we were talking about intercooler heat soak. A FMIC will have plenty of air pulled through it from the radiator fans and will not heat soak. Idling does little to nothing to cause heat soak on modern turbo cars. A more realistic issue is heat soak caused by running the engine...
  43. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Yeah, like I said...same range. They are both 11 second cars. A simple flash tune on the Audi and you're mid-to-low 11s all day long. And you can go much faster from there if you want, unlike the M3P.
  44. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Noise and sound are not mutually inclusive. What you may consider noise may be music to my ears. Do you not understand that? As for car sounds, I personally love the sounds that many performance ICE cars make. The engine, the intake, the exhuast system.....the mechanical sounds of the shifter...
  45. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Intercoolers don't heat soak on an unmodified car. Design engineers ensure excess cooling capacity to remove the possibility of heat soak. But of course if you're going to modify a turbo car, then you might want to upgrade the intercooler as well, as increased boost pressures and/or a larger...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

There are a lot of people who like and own both EV and ICE. Personally, if commuting, then EV is great. But if I'm driving for pleasure/fun, it's 100% ICE all the way. Does that make me socially irresponsible?
  47. White Shadow

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Can't blame you for going with the RS3....they are fantastic little cars. And if speed is your thing, it's quite easy to make them much, much faster than stock. But even stock, a new RS3 will run 11.8 quarter mile time, which puts it in the same range as the Model 3 Performance. Just tune the...
