Buy Model 3 Now or Wait?

I would not buy a 2023 Tesla without the USS.
  2. phishphan

Wait new model LR AWD or take a used performance.

I’d wait for the LR, especially given your climate.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I wouldn’t want a 23 as it won’t have the USS. I believe those cars will be duds or retrofitted at some point.

    Elon Musk

Unfortunately, I think it’s going to go “all the way”. I truly hope a family member or friend can help him before it’s too late. Ive been down this road with many musicians I like. It’s tough to watch.

    Elon Musk

I think he’s on a bender at this point. I was hesitant to say this earlier, but now it appears the paranoia is really kicking in.
  9. phishphan

    Elon Musk

Hope you’re correct. I was once proud to show off our Tesla to friends and family but am now just embarrassed to own one. Granted, it’s my wife’s car, but I still drive it at times. Looked at trading it in this weekend but we’d lose $10k. Funny that just three months ago we could’ve made $10k.
  10. phishphan

    Elon Musk

Is there any cause for alarm regarding the future of Tesla and thus the future of our vehicles with Elon’s decent into right wing authoritarian and Q madness?

    Coronavirus

So, you weren’t ever locked down? You could do whatever you wanted except play basketball and eat out for a week or two?

    Coronavirus

When were you ever “locked down”? Please include examples of being locked down as well.

2022 Model 3 Long Range died overnight

But is seemingly becoming more common.

2022 Model 3 Long Range died overnight

Following as I’m wondering if it may be a PCS failure.

Is it possible to get 250 miles on the interstate with a 2022 M3P?

I’m happy we went for the LR, especially now that it’s our first winter with an EV. We kept going back and forth about upgrading by asking ourselves how many times would we really need those extra miles. Turns out, we needed them more than we knew.
  16. phishphan

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

This is my biggest concern. Cameras fog up and get dirty, how will they prevent this from happening?
  17. phishphan

2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

There is some Y inventory locally that I’d be interested in trading up into but not having the USS is a deal breaker for me. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Has Tesla ever gone back and said, j/k, we made a mistake?
  18. phishphan

    2" tow hitch

We already have one (Kuat) but I still haven't figured out if the car can handle the weight.
  19. phishphan

2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

I do not like the sound of this at all.

I’m on page 10 of reading this entire thread and it is a fascinating look back at recent history.

Multiple issues with my 2018 Model 3

    This is crazy. Following.

2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

This is such an interesting dilemma as a 22 owner. On one hand I’d be a little upset about not getting the USS but on the other I’m kind of worried we’re stuck with old tech.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

There was a red/white available in SLC for a while, might still be there. But it may have been a performance model.
  24. phishphan

Got 3 errors--Vehicle may shut down unexpectedly but next appointment is 3 weeks

It’s probably either the 12v or PCS.
  25. phishphan

Oops, driving car in icy condition and car slipped on ice and hit a curb hard

Well, I was going to wait to and see how the stock all seasons on our 22LR did but after seeing that video I’m going to Costco today to get winters put on as it’s my wife’s daily driver.
  26. phishphan

    Elon & Twitter

I had two of my “left-wing. echo-chamber mentality” posts deleted as well though they were not political in nature at all. So, your assumption is invalid. (Though I have no idea what “pay attention to what mods say” means, as I’ve never really ventured outside of the main vehicle forums.)
  27. phishphan

$3500 price difference for Model 3 Long Range AWD vs Performance. Which one should I go with?

I guess I’m in the minority where the LR is plenty fast for me. I thought for sure I’d buy the AB within days of taking delivery but we definitely don’t need it.
  28. phishphan

    Elon & Twitter

    It is quite disheartening.

Is Ford bumping up Cybertruck reservation holders?

Interesting. But makes me think the wait for the CT will be worth it.
  30. phishphan

Model Y has anyone received 2023 VIN yet?

Good point regarding how they turned off the radar for older cars. Did those vehicles also have USS at the time?
  31. phishphan

Model Y has anyone received 2023 VIN yet?

What’s the deal with the USS and waiver? Are those vehicles going to be worth less down the road or is it old technology that will be replaced with better cameras? I am so confused.

New 2022 Model 3 has "VCFRONT a192" issue

I find it interesting they could deem the PCS failed through a quick diagnosis on your car but I had to fight like hell and show that the same issue happened twice to get mine replaced. That’s why I asked. Makes me wonder if they’re acknowledging they got a bad batch of the units.

    Garage opener (Homelink)

Our homelink was just delivered today with installation scheduled for tomorrow (was not expecting it to be this quick) but after reading this thread I’m second guessing spending the almost $400.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

FWIW I don’t think neither she nor I would be as vocal as we have been (obviously she has a much bigger platform than little old me though lol) had Tesla handled the issue properly. Honestly, for me the first time was concerning but like you said, *sugar* happens. When it happened the second...

    2" tow hitch

So, we have a four bike platform rack for my truck. Will our M3LR with this stealth hitch be able to handle the weight of four mountain bikes and bike rack with four people in the vehicle? Seems like a lot of extra weight.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

We've had no issues since the PCS was replaced in August and after a 1400 mile road trip plus another 2k + random miles or so I think we’re good. That said, seeing that video might have made me realize I have a little PTSD lol. It is freaking scary having your car bleep and bloop at you while...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I disagree to your first point. This gets attention due to how Tesla handles (some) issues. And I’ve gotten into it with a few people in here before about this but until you’ve been in a literal deadly situation due to a malfunctioning vehicle I don’t think you’re in a place to judge. To make...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

It’s true that the customer service can be terrible. It’s true there can be bugs in brand new Teslas as we dealt with something similar with ours this summer. Thankfully our issue allowed us to pull over. We were also told twice that they updated the software and firmware so the issue was...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Thank your this post. I did not know about DC charging on a cold battery would deteriorate the battery! And yes, the adapter is super heavy, not what I was expecting at all. I also couldn’t believe the size of it! Holy cow!

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Got the adapter yesterday and I’m not sure I’ll ever use it. Guess I’ll hold on to it just in case…

    How many PCS have failed?

It deeply soured our experience as well though at least you didn’t have to go through the gaslighting we did. That being said, we haven’t had an issue since the PCS was replaced and have put over 2K miles on it since then including a road trip using super chargers.

Power Steering Failure VCFRONT_a522 + Warranty Question

That is a very difficult situation. Ultimately you probably have no choice but to have it towed to the service center. One thing I would try before doing that though is jumping or replacing the 12v battery. Furthermore, just found this upon a quick google Which indicates it’s a 12v issue...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Am I overreacting by being extremely skeptical/nervous about this? Seems like a complete *sugar* show is about to unfold.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

When does this, the sharing of SCs, begin? This could be a freaking nightmare.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

I just saw this on slickdeals.net. It has been mentioned in that thread Tesla is opening up their chargers to other EVs as a result of gov incentives. Is this true?
