@2022S-LR I don’t used a brake controller as my trailer has hydraulic surge brakes. I don’t know if the Model S has the same plug as the Model X but I would guess that it doesn’t. You can always install an aftermarket brake controller though.

This should work on your car. The refresh they are talking about is the new refresh in 2022 (not the old refresh in 2016). So pre-refresh for Torklift is the 2012-2021 models. The x7201s is definitely the better hitch to get. It is also stainless steel and won't rust.

I had someone ask me more details on the how this relay board for trailer wiring is hooked up. Here is a labelled photo that I hope clarifies the connections. I'm sorry that some of the wire colours are not intuitive.

This behaviour has been noted several times in this thread and other threads. You can solve it by using the "tail" wires from each side and making an AND gate with a relay. Or you can just keep the tail lights on while trailering. See my post on wiring here.

Here is a pic of the lift gate module on the right side of the trunk where I tapped the 12v+ and 12v-.

I did the wiring after I put the bumper and exterior trim back together but I left the interior trunk trim pieces off to access the wiring. Those trim pieces are pretty easy to take off again and do the wiring later if needed.

Here are screenshots of the parts inventory from the old hitch x7201 and the new hitch x7201s. You can see the old one has 16 nylon washers while new one has 28 nylon washers. Did your hitch come with the old parts list?
