Trak 4X4 Snow Chain Just... Fell Off!?!

Speed. I was constantly around 25mph (40kph) which is the speed limit under snowy condition. Can't go faster since pretty much we have a line a cars crawling down the mountain. May have reached up 30mph once in a while but that's it. Attachment to the lug nut. I made it tight enough that a...

Trak 4X4 Snow Chain Just... Fell Off!?!

I ordered the official snow chain for Model X (link) and was able to use it for about 40 minutes. I believe that I installed the chain well, tested them out by trying to yank them and could feel that they fit snug and tight. So off I went down the mountain in the snow. See the picture of the...

How well does Autopilot work compared to the competition?

This 18 minute long video from Mercedes shows all of their available Driver Assistance System. They seem quite comprehensive, but still doesn't cover all scenarios that AP2 can cover. It does have some belt and whistle compared to AP2, but at the cost of adding more controls which is a bit...

How well does Autopilot work compared to the competition?

Thanks everyone for your input. After following various links posted here and did some more reading. My conclusion is that Tesla's AP2 is in general way superior than the competition due to the ability to operate on a large set of situations with little restriction: speed (stop & go to highway...

How well does Autopilot work compared to the competition?

For this discuss, let's focus only on the most crucial components of Tesla's Autopilot technology: Traffic Aware Cruise Control (known as Adaptive Cruise Control by other automakers) and Auto Steer (known as Lane Keep/Centering Assist by other automakers), and ignore for now other features such...

    Model X License Plate Saga

Seems like you didn't even read the post. OP complained that The Law didn't work very well for him.

    Model X License Plate Saga

Meh, I read a bunch about license plate too and it seems front license plate law is minimally enforced, and even if in a rare chance you get a ticket, it's just a bit around $120, which is a mere 0.1% of the cost of the car.

Alternative charging networks/plans to Supercharger Network?

Thanks for the detailed reply Bruce. I just did a trip to Napa yesterday and you are right, it can easily be done without any charging even though I had several detours. I will probably get an EVgo card just in case, though thanks to a 300-mile range, things don't seem as bad as other friends of...

Alternative charging networks/plans to Supercharger Network?

Thanks Derek, this is helpful. How fast is CHAdeMO in general? I saw 130miles/hr top is that right (X 100D)? Did I just set myself up for trouble? :)

Alternative charging networks/plans to Supercharger Network?

Thanks for the input. To clarify my question, I will mostly use Supercharger, though I just want to find alternative options instead of having to plan my day around a charging station. To elaborate a bit more using an example: Napa Valley and Sonoma areas have only one Supercharger, but it's in...

Alternative charging networks/plans to Supercharger Network?

I am new owner of a Model X and would like to ask other people's in the community on their choice for an alternative charging networks to Supercharger. I am living in the Bay Area so there are a lot of options out there so it's a bit confusing. My highest priority is charging speed. This is to...

Model X Timeline - From Prototype to Production

Picked up the car yesterday in Fremont. No issue seen so far. There is a peculiar change in VIN: - My assigned VIN before and during production was 5YJXCBE24HFxxxxxx - At signing, I noticed that it has change to 5YJXCBE27JFxxxxxx. - Essentially, changing the model year from 2017 to 2018. Which...

    Model X charging question

Yes, as @Rocky_H pointed out, I selected that Dryer Buddy specifically for its automatic toggle functionality, or else @Solarman004's concern is valid. Sounds like there is no other objection so far, thanks all.

    Model X charging question

I forgot to mention that the configuration of the garage makes the outlet a bit tricky to access. I was thinking of using an extension cord, but unsure about safety.

    Model X charging question

I am in a similar (but slightly simpler) situation, and I just want to make sure that I got this right. Situation: I only have one 10-30 outlet in the garage for the dryer. The car can be in the garage. Don't want to change the wiring of the house since it's a rental. After reading through the...

    6-seater inside ski box

I see. Thank you. I guess I will have to go with the hitch option then.

    6-seater inside ski box

@Solarman004, I am trying to figure out how this works. Wouldn't the length between the third row and the front console be too short for that? Or is there space underneath the seats somehow? Unless you are talking about kid skis? I apologize for being ignorant if that appears so, since mine is...

2017 VIN Model X Order and Delivery

I hope that quality is not compromised. Though their reputation there is not the best. :|

2017 VIN Model X Order and Delivery

Hmm, mine was ordered on 11/13. 100D Fremont delivery. And my DS tentatively put me down for 12/27 delivery. But if your timeline (>2 months) applies to mine, then delivery will not be until mid January. If that is true then my DS's estimation is off my a large amount :(.

    Model X Delivery Checklist

I don't plan to go through the whole checklist since I am leasing mine so if there are issues, it will go back after 3 years anyway. That said, what would be the top/most-annoying issues that one should check for a soon-to-be delivered Model X? Squeaking of doors/seats seem to be the most common...

2017 VIN Model X Order and Delivery

All Tesla VINs start with "5YJ" so that is common. But if yours only has those 3 characters with nothing else, then something is not right. Mine either displayed nothing, or the whole VIN of "5YJXCDE24HF0xxxxx". I would suggest to ask Tesla directly.

2017 VIN Model X Order and Delivery

What do you mean by "5YD"? Shouldn't it mean "5YJ" which means Tesla Motors Inc.?

2017 VIN Model X Order and Delivery

Same here, ordered 11/11, confirmed (as seen in the website, not via email or phone) on 11/14. VIN 78xxx. How do I contact my delivery specialist or are they going to contact me?
