I live in a smaller town in the great state of Indiana. By the reactions we still get after 2 years, I've decided everyone driving a Tesla is a celebrity.
Travel safely and let us know your progress. If you pass through the Mishawaka supercharger, I'd love to share a toast to your dad and his support of the Tesla vision. I lost my dad before the Model S was released, and often think of how he'd have marveled at the technology we drive today...
I will be in your area on Tuesday, June 28th and would like to see the car if you will be available. Please let me know and we will make more specific plans. (I drive a P85+, and this would make a good car for my wife, who has grown to enjoy Tesla as much as I do!)
There's always at least two ways to look at a tragedy of this nature.

There's a lot of work to do to resolve this issue, and to make sure we don't see similar disasters in the future.
We're minutes from the Mishawaka, Indiana superchargers and would be glad to meet you for a bite to eat. (Free tour of ND campus?) Lots of great food choices in the area, too. Maybe a buzz lite-beer at Granite City? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
Coming from beautiful downtown Woodland, Indiana for our first Tesla meet! We're new owners with a black P85+ that doesn't get to the big city very often.
