    Idiots charging

When you said idiots charging, I thought it was something like this... I suppose it's possible that they've never seen a "head-in" supercharger. And yes, they are blocking the driving lane. Fortunately this is not a busy parking lot.

What features do you wish the Model Y came with (Dec 2022/Jan 2023) Wishlist

When approaching a SC station, I would like to have the car use autopark to put me in a stall. I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself of course, but I envision it something like in SciFi when a space ship is approaching a space dock, the space dock takes over control and guides it in.

    Homelink issue after 2022.44.25.1 update

Yeah, I’m not a fan of the top bar design with its 100% transparent background.

How do I tune to FM HD channels

I clicked on the Stations tab and waited for it to populate my local stations. The HD stations showed up eventually and I was able to select them. I could not see a way to directly tune an HD station, however.

    Homelink issue after 2022.44.25.1 update

Do you not have the "Activate" button at the top of the screen? This car is on 2022.44.25.2.

Unable to play music in Apple music

Funny, I have the opposite problem. Apple Music won't *stop* playing. Well, really what I mean is that Apple music is not respecting the Play/Pause state of its player between drives. When I get in the car it starts playing immediately even if I left the song paused before I got out last...

L.A. to Solvang 200 mile using autopilot

I did some testing on the highway yesterday and got the same result as you. :) Autosteer would not disengage when I indicated a lane change but was not holding the steering wheel. So for the last year, I thought the car was releasing autosteer, when apparently it was just reducing to almost...

L.A. to Solvang 200 mile using autopilot

I haven't read that section of the manual for several months, but 90+% of time it "bongs" and the wheel icon turns gray when I indicate a lane change and I can feel it release before (I think) I have make any steering input. Perhaps I'm mistaken. I'll pay closer attention to the sequence of...

L.A. to Solvang 200 mile using autopilot

I do. Prior to about 2022.36.x, autosteer in my car would fail to disengage around 40% of the time when I indicated a lane change. Cancelling and re-indicating worked 100% of the time. Since then it's been working almost every time. Definitely progress.

L.A. to Solvang 200 mile using autopilot

I agree. That 's not an unreasonable response to a hill you cannot see over. The only reason I called it out is that I've made this road trip about 10 times in the past year and it never slowed there before. There used to be a straight & level section of this road where it would slow 5-7 mph...

L.A. to Solvang 200 mile using autopilot

I have basic Autopilot on my '22 MYLR as well and TACC+Autosteer (2022.40.4.1) performed almost flawlessly on 500+ miles of Interstates and 4-lane divided highways last week. I had one incident where the car slowed 1 MPH while cresting a steep rise and one incident where it didn't release...

    Does Tesla make people impatient?

If the Model Y is your only car, it’s easy to forget that not everyone on the road can accelerate so effortlessly. I had to remind my wife of that on our last road trip when she yelled at the car in front of us to “Go!” when we were taking off from a traffic light on a 65mph highway. I said...
  13. S

    Autopilot issue

I don’t have a problem with TACC reacting to crossing traffic. The problem I have is that it reacts after the “threat” has passed. It typically doesn’t start braking until the car is 80% clear (and continuing to clear) my lane.

    Speed limit sign recognition sucks

Same here. I thought it was just my car. Since the install of 2022.20.7 the car missed 3 speed limit signs on Saturday before finally recognizing the 4 th one. This was on a 266-mile road trip that I take every 4-5 weeks on a lightly traveled 4-lane divided highway. I’ve got nothing better to...

    Update 22.16.1.2 And Cellphone

Same here. iPhone 13 with latest iOS. Car is on 2022.16.2. I can hear others but they can’t hear me. “Forgot“ devices on the car & phone and re-paired with no luck. Rebooted both car & phone. Couldn’t dictate a response to a txt msg either. Either Tesla has forgot to request access to the mic...

Ever hit a brick at 60mph?

Ouch, that's some bad luck. I suppose that's better than it hitting the battery tray though. I know what you mean about AP not being able to keep up. My MYLR in AP wouldn't keep up with a 20-year-old F-150 with a fully loaded landscaping trailer in heavy traffic the other day. Hopefully...

Missing USB Ports in new deliveries

Are people still getting cars delivered without the front USB-C hub/ports or has that been rectified? I ask because I have one of those hub-less Ys built in November and my mobile service appointment has been pushed back for the 3rd time because the Atlanta SC still can't get the part. I'd be...

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

I just pulled mine to check it and I have drive called "tesla" as the first partition and "music" as the 2nd one. Both are exFAT format. What I did was put the new card in the car and let the car format it. That created the "tesla" partition with the requisite folder names. Then I pulled...

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

I'm using @jcanoe's solution of MobileMate reader with the Samsung 128GB Pro Endurance card in my November-build 2022 MYLR. However, I have partitioned the card into two drives: TeslaCam/Sentry Mode and Music. It's been working fine for me for the past 6 weeks. In the meantime, I'm still...

    New model y range issues

When I first started considering a Model Y as a replacement for my 8-year-old Chevy Volt, I looked at the Tesla site and thought, "wow, that's some impressive range. Virtually the same as Volt's battery + 9-gallon gas tank." That'll be perfect for the 266-mile (one-way) trip I take 10+...

    2022 MY PPF quote

That's what I paid in Montgomery, AL for XPEL on the full front (incl headlights) + mirrors + the "shark fin" piece on the rear doors. He also added a strip on each of the door edges and one on the top of the bumper cover in the back. I have the Tesla mud flaps as well. I tend to keep my cars...

    Missing USB Ports

When I tried to do the same thing last week, it wasn't even an option. At the time, I chose "Other" and it didn't even present mobile service as an option so I didn't follow through with the booking.
  23. S

    Missing USB Ports

They texted me back through the app and said they are doing them as they become available. He said my appointment might get moved out but now I'm on the list to get taken care of ASAP. I asked for mobile service for next Weds since I'm 175 miles from the SC. At least this puts me on their radar.
  24. S

    Missing USB Ports

On a whim, I went into the Service section of the Tesla app and there was a new option called "Outstanding Service (1)". When I tapped on it, it brought up "Front USB Hub Retrofit" and allowed me to schedule Mobile Service for it. Hopefully, that means they have it in stock and are not just...

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

There's an addendum to the in-car User Manual that says the front USB-C ports in Model Ys manufactured after 1 Nov 21 may or may not have full functionality and may only have charging capability.

    New Y software vastly outdated

Me, too. I've been on 2021.35.102.2 since I picked up the car in November. But I've read enough threads on here to know not to complain about it. Only 3 weeks for me. To be fair though, some cars seem to have gone months w/o an update. I doubt that I could contain my frustration that long...

    Missing USB Ports

I came here to check if people are getting their missing USB hubs installed and if my car had been overlooked. Apparently, that's not the case. I took delivery in Atlanta (Decatur) almost 3 weeks ago and I had a similar experience to others. The delivery team did not acknowledge that the...

Rear USB C Ports not aligned

Workaround while you're waiting for the Service Center is to go old school and plug a USB charger in the 12v socket inside the center armrest.

Phantom braking so bad I want to return my car

Hubris, I suspect. Also, it would be a tacit admission of failure. Not really failure, of course, but I suspect Tesla believes that’s how it will be perceived. I would have more respect for Tesla as a technology company if they said something like, “we know you paid for Vision Only TACC, but...

I ordered it back in October. Took about a week to get it shipped here. Honestly, I was surprised to get such a quick installation appointment from mobile service.

    Current Delivery Times

Mission Complete: "Sparky 2.0" (OG Sparky is my 2013 Volt with 126K miles) has been delivered! Thanks to the many folk who posted their experiences here on this thread, there were no surprises. Driving from Montgomery, AL, we arrived about 30 minutes early, because I built in a buffer for...

Tow Hitch & Red Color - Causing possible delay in delivery?

Mine should be delivered this Saturday barring any shipping delays. But you are right. I haven’t seen many Red + Tow delivered.

Vision cruise control isn't usable (video)

Here's another excerpt from the 2021.32 Owner's Manual that implies plain ol' Cruise Control is still around... just not for us. May I have a non-BETA cruise control, please, Papa Elon?
  34. S

    Current Delivery Times

My OD was 8/8 with an original EDD of "November." I had a 14-day window before dropping to 6 days after VIN assignment. An hour or so ago, I got a text with a choice of 3 days (none of which were inside the last window  ) to pick from for delivery. See sig for details.
  35. S

    Current Delivery Times

Just got my delivery scheduled, too! 27 Nov in ATL. Seems like the Red and Black paint booths at Fremont are in full swing!

    August Order Estimate Delivery

After waiting no-so-patiently for a week after getting my VIN: I now have a delivery date of 27 Nov! Well... until Tesla decides to change it, that is 😉

Vision cruise control isn't usable (video)

This is really disappointing to read. I'm scheduled to pick up my 2022 MYLR in a few days and this behavior would be a deal breaker for me. More so than misaligned body panels and paint defects. I live in a fairly rural part of the country and often 2-lane US & state highways are to only...

    Current Delivery Times

w00t! Looks like the VINsanity is coming to an end -- at least for me. Hopefully this means that other Jul/Aug #TeamRED members will get good news soon! OD/Profile: 08/08 VIN: 11/07 NF309xxx EDD is now 21-26 Nov. Hoping there's some flexibility there because 24-26 Nov are not an option...

    Current Delivery Times

I'll add myself to the list of those whose EDD windows have tightened. Mine is down to 14 days with the last day being the Weds before Thanksgiving for delivery in Atlanta. For the record, there is no way in hell that I'm driving anywhere near that city on that day  So hoping for the near...

    Current Delivery Times

Congrats! Exact same build as mine, but you’re 2 weeks ahead of me. Hope that trend continues!
  41. S

    August Order Estimate Delivery

I have the same build including tow hitch. OD was 8/8 with no changes. My EDD is 31 Oct - 28 Nov, so it looks like your tow hitch didn't change your place in line.
  42. S

    August Order Estimate Delivery

There are probably a couple dozen metrics that get dropped into a cauldron full of AI, stirred up a bit and poured through a sieve. What's left over is your EDD for the day. :) That being said, you should definitely be ahead of most -- if not all -- of the August orders. I wonder if Tesla...
  43. S

    Current Delivery Times

Good point. Should only take 1-2 days to get the loan approved once I submit it (USAA)
  44. S

    Current Delivery Times

My 20-day EDD hadn’t changed in a month. Now I have a 28-day window as well and have been moved up to 31 Oct -28 Nov. Time to start finalizing the loan application, I suppose.
  45. S

    Current Delivery Times

My Red/Black build's EDD hasn't moved for ~3 weeks. Still between Thanksgiving and Christmas-ish. I'm only on Day 53, so I'm good with it being static for now. Seems like there are still a lot of July (and earlier) orders yet to be filled.
  46. S

    Current Delivery Times

That was my thinking too. But I was planning to test drive on the first weekend in October. That seems unlikely now. Hoping they'll have a new demo fleet by mid-November.

Will you defer your deliver to wait for the EV tax cred?

No, I was being stupid, aka "Math in public"
  48. S

Will you defer your deliver to wait for the EV tax cred?

D'oh! 😖 Yes, I was conflating pre-tax with tax liability. What I was thinking is that in order to reduce my federal tax liability by $8,000 in 2021, I would need to reduce my income by $10,667. (That would actually be $32K) But now that I type that out, it makes no sense. This is why I have a...
  49. S

Will you defer your deliver to wait for the EV tax cred?

I agree. That much of a discount is highly unlikely. They might even lose money at that price point. But a person can dream! :D🙃
  50. S

Will you defer your deliver to wait for the EV tax cred?

I’m in the 25% federal tax bracket, so 25% of $10,667 = 2,666.75. I would need that much more of a discount to net $8,000 after taxes.
