Parking brake rattles when not engaged; video

Thought just occurred to me to test drive after I remove that parking brake caliper. Just unplug while in tow mode, then unbolt. That test drive idea is a no-brainer but I didn’t think about it until now.

    Rear Axle Clicking

FYI, two years later: I’ve had my axle splines lubed with heavy-duty molybdenum grease to address the issue, and it worked! For about 2-3 months it was nice and smooth, but the clicking returned. I had it done again but the service manager said it probably would wear off in the same time frame...

No more Uber Credits or loaners after warranty expiration

PLUS your hourly rate goes from $175 to $215 without warranty in SoCal. Emphasis on people with a warranty getting unapproved work done receive a normal inflated hourly rate, while OG Tesla’s? They get reminded. “GO DIE ON A TOILET ALREADY YOU INBRED HILL PEOPLE!” No it’s more like… “thx again...

Parking brake rattles when not engaged; video

I tried that… It may seem like an issue for others but for me it was not. I even took the rear seats out just to be sure. The actual sound I hear while driving is my parking brake caliper. Left rear parking brake caliper is silent.

Still no regen after replacing ABS sensors; other errors remain 2012 S

I powered off and left it overnight. Not sure if the wheel bearing had anything to do with it??

Still no regen after replacing ABS sensors; other errors remain 2012 S

The energy consumption may have been a separate issue. It has now been remedied, but it was warming my battery for supercharging no matter what. Even when the car was sitting for a full day and I lost 11% battery, it was continually keeping battery at optimum charging temperature. Eek! The...

Parking brake rattles when not engaged; video

I’ve been hunting down this rattle in the right rear. Seems it has been the parking brake caliper, or outer pad, slapping the rotor. What’s the fix? I think it’s happening on both sides but just focusing on one side for now. Parking brake pad slap

Still no regen after replacing ABS sensors; other errors remain 2012 S

For record’ sake, when I removed the right rear wheel bearing the tone ring was still in there, just leaning on the axle. The new SKF wheel bearing installed easily and the problem with no regen, etc, went away. Avoid TRQ wheel bearings. Not even a full year old.

Air Compression noise over bumps, Front Left side only

I needed to order wheel bearings after I thought it was all this other stuff with the suspension. I know the drill, yet I bought TRQ wheel bearing assemblies for maybe $250 shipped, and inside of 18 months I went through it a second time. I was looking for suspension wear and inevitably abs...

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

After any change “Save” or “Restore” pop-up. That’s the only trick. Unless…Other possibilities, like a buggy wiggled in there. Once it decomposes it crunch into flakes and mirror location will be saved. Jk! Sounds like a software fix in need.

Still no regen after replacing ABS sensors; other errors remain 2012 S

I finally ordered the OBDlink MX+, and the appropriate cable for my 2012. Hopefully I can find an app that can be of value. In the meantime, energy usage is insanely high!!! 1/210 Wh/m for a 1 mile, 6-minute drive to the superchargers. The correlation between inefficiency and the ABS, traction...

Still no regen after replacing ABS sensors; other errors remain 2012 S

Replacing wheel sensors was sure to be the fix, but maybe it’s the wheel bearing? TRQ wheel bearings are installed and have been fine for a year, but it’s something to consider. There’s a rattle, loose knock, seems like the wheel bearing would not make those noises. The noises have been around...

Air suspension not working, sporadic errors.

I did the same thing @ayavner did, but I used my mountain bike suspension pump. Achieving 160psi with that little thing took like 300 pumps. Anyway, it raised the car a smidge after a hard reset, but just errored out. I never had a bad relay or blown fuse, but otherwise I’m with y’all. Tried a...

Rear Toe Links worn out after 5000 miles?

My N2itive camber bushings have an 8-year warranty? The rear right unit rattles like crazy from worn bushings, about 16 months and 20,000 miles of use, and 6 alignments. When I bring it up I just hear “who installed them” (me), and the case is closed. I torqued at ride height, which can be a...

2015 MS 90D front windshield replace

Went through this and safelite was my choice. I requested an oem front window price difference and she said it was accepted and my deductible is still just $50. It takes 6-8 weeks to get it, but it’ll be oem and covered without paying out of pocket. Tesla quoted me $1350 to replace; they do not...

    Supercharger - Pasadena, CA - East Glenarm Street (LIVE 21 Oct 2021, 20 V3, 7 DCFC, 20 L2)

I’ve posted about this many times with images and even videos you can view. Since this location opened; the handicap space usage has been such that it’s a preferred spot; if five-10 spaces are open, one will be in one of those spaces. No need to create an alternative narrative (quoted above). On...

It’s extremely dark at night, I’ve had my soon ride his bike around the back island and the occasional idiots will drive super fast back there, or come back there and smoke weed while I’m clearly hanging with my little kid back there. Idiots in Tesla’s. If you’ll brag about being an intoxicated...

That’s an expensive solution lol I agree that charge stations should have DOT clearance requirements beyond the ADA requirement for handicapped parking spaces. Until it’s enforced and the idiots are ticketed, it will continue. People hitting their curbs at night are careless drivers. We have...

    2013 S 85 Charge Port Replacement Tips?

The update failed, but not related to your install or that you requested via service menu. They do that in my experience. You can always re-request if it fails like that. If it continues to fail in the same way and is not relatable to any known issue, try whichever kind of download you didn’t...

    2013 S 85 Charge Port Replacement Tips?

I’ve done this twice and both times there were plenty of reference points on exactly how it slid back in and secured. You’ll see the outline of previous charge port installation, etc. I’ve never used a tool for alignment, but that’s not to say someone in a different situation might indeed need it?

R&R air suspension, now light knocking/rattle from front on P85

Searching for washers on Amazon is a breeze, the top portion of search becomes drop down menus with different icons for each washer type to narrow down your search. I’ve always wondered about stacking these little fiber washers bc they absorb vibration/sound while being rigid. Even sandwiching...

    bleeding our brakes

Greater than 5psi is leaking? At the cap? That cap should have alternative inner gasket thicknesses, which is where the leak is coming from. We do 30psi, Tesla recommends 2 bar (30 psi). No leaks.

R&R air suspension, now light knocking/rattle from front on P85

I’m familiar with that issue, it’s certainly been the topic of enough threads. It is isolated to 2016.5 and newer S/X. The rattle the thread is about was specific to aftermarket struts that have a different size and shape overall, as seen in pictures. Any wear part between two non-wear parts...

    Ac condenser replacement

Ah, I see. The rule of thumb is to stage a software update when you swap parts that have an electrical connection. Same thing at service center. Your Ali condenser will probably be great; but even a newer OEM version of your condenser may require a software update to accept the new part(s). I...

Yes, simultaneously blocking 2/3 working non-Tesla chargers… sitting, watching waiting vehicles, stuffing your face with ice cream and laughing on the phone, they deserved the resentment. I drove back by almost 20 minutes later and they were both still charging. Must be going for 100.

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

Wow, a similar past for me, and I even did a semester of ASE certification 20 years ago before realizing that life wasn’t for me. Settings to leave car on Alignment Rack ?

You might wanna scroll back to my post about 714 tires. I drove home and scheduled a real alignment elsewhere. They got my rear camber dialed but the rest was garbage, in the green but not my requested specs. On the rack at the next place I was mostly in the red. The rear camber arms from...

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

Not to pick, but I’ve learned to keep opinions to myself at service concerning what it may be. It’s gotten me into trouble the way you suggested it might have. It also relies on a guess and it’s basically a bet at that point, costing money and all.

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

All of their fees are ridiculous. It’s best to figure out a repeatable way to create the sound and then show the tech. Otherwise… I mean, they don’t really care. For real. You’ve got to fight for your right to not drive a rattle can Tesla.

Settings to leave car on Alignment Rack ?

That’s the legit site I alluded to, where putting the car in High and then jack mode before aligning is directed. Obviously an error. However, it says to do this before measuring ride height in the paragraph. It’s possibly a copy/paste error, lol. Aligning your model s in High is NOT how to...

Alignment is Perfect, STILL Pulling to the Left

I’ve spent $1050 on alignments in 2022. $400 plus cable to level on Tesla toolbox TeamView (x2) and it never worked. Always returned to one random strut over inflated, ruining the alignment after each leveling. Then, I manually leveled with my old lowering links. And I aligned using tape measure...

Alignment is Perfect, STILL Pulling to the Left

I’m happy you found the issue. I’ve been throwing everything at my car, it’s finally just about wrapped up. Nightmare. $3,500 and three months. Feels good to nearly have it done. I’m just leveling manually after lowering it an inch. Then another alignment and should be good.

It is "Clear" That Tesla's Price Hikes Are Thanks to Gas Prices Increasing Demand and Awareness of EVs

It gets confusing when we refer to Tesla by saying “Elon”. Never go full Elon. I see what you’re saying now, obviously. It’s a not-so-beautiful situation for consumers, but for the few at the top, yes, let’s celebrate.

It is "Clear" That Tesla's Price Hikes Are Thanks to Gas Prices Increasing Demand and Awareness of EVs

I’m more enamored but the awe and respect of everything Elon does. My reminder was that Elon is a hardcore capitalist Republican telling us to trust in him to save the world. Meanwhile… No disrespect, but I disagree 100% in the logic and outcome.
