Come to think of it, the chargers are probably capable of the 75kW for 800v capable EV's which is the 40kW for Tesla @ 400v....? Would need to check plugshare to confirm. They could be pulling the same trick as Ampol, when they 'upgrade' to the full 150kW it will be for 800v architecture.

    BP Pulse Network

Yep got to agree with all of that. The poor consumer that doesn't have anything idea of charging curves or what their shiny new EV is capable of will probably just shrug it off without knowing that they are being short changed. I do also wonder whether the government will be upto task and police...

How Regenerative Braking Works? Good article

When I have done this I find the car picks up too much speed.

Melbourne to Sydney via Destination Charger in a MY RWD

Thanks for the write up. It's interesting to compare the Y efficiency. Tesla Tom just finished his syd-melb return in the borrowed Atto 3 and he averaged 200 Wh/km in that car on both legs. Much smaller vehicle too.

    Panoramic Roof & Ride Quality

Ok regarding the ride comfort - But you were warned...haha. Seriously you might be ok but there is zero chance I would as I reckon the model 3 with standard 18" at 36 psi is bearable. Not sure if the Merc E had air suspension but the Y certainly doesn't. In regard to the glass. I am in Sydney...

    Panoramic Roof & Ride Quality

Yes I would have to agree with this. You are literally going from a comfy lounge chair to the chair of nails. Why not get a model X. Still will have to navigate the glass roof though and drain the bank account a bit more but hopefully the refresh will be here by the end of the year.

    Tesla Model Y-LR in Australia

That is really good going for the Y. Shows the Tesla drivetrain and aero at its best. But we are in some of the best temperatures for EV's at the moment. When winter comes that is where any LR Tesla will be worth the price for some. I know you and many of us are aware of how temp kills the...

    Superchargers in Australia

Yes this could happen but it could also be argued that the slower charging EV owners are even more frugal so won't want to pay the higher cost to charge at Tesla SC. They might be happy to line up at NRMA freebies.

    Supercharger - Gundagai NSW

The one problem that I do see is some of the newer Chinese EV's (like the BYD Atto 3) which are meant to be super popular in the next few years is they have some woeful charging speeds. A few of these in the line can change the charging times. There should also be some type of smarts on the...

Brake Regeneration - Low To Non-Existent (Aussie Site - Discussion)

Happy to help you out if you are in Sydney bud. Just let us know where you are. If not in Sydney I am sure others can help.

Does TAAC use regenerative braking when decelerating?

Yes, I have wondered the same and have come to the opinion that it probably is for maximum efficiency, why stop an almost 2 tonne of inertia unless it is needed. It does cut it very fine sometimes.

haha love what you did there '™' And you should get selected but probably won't

    BP Pulse Network

I would go to paid sites especially in the holidays. If there is one thing I have learnt in the 6 months of owning an EV is most EV owners are El cheapo's. Will try to get free electrons wherever they can. I can only imagine as the cheaper EV's come on the market what lengths those owner's...

State based proposed EV road user charge

You could always get TeslaFi or Tessie and use the detailed reports to deduct the trips outside of Victoria. Send that to Andrews... It is a joke that they can charge road usage and collect a portion that doesn't belong to them.

2022 Model 3 LFP battery statistics

The LFP equipped cars seem to have a dynamic buffer which will influence the range slightly. It all depends on how often it is charged to 100%. I have been only charging mine to 70% on a regular basis now with warmer weather upon us and giving a 100% about once a week. The guessometer drops...

    Take delivery or cancel?

The sales numbers suggest otherwise for the RWD model 3 and would probably be the same for the performance Y if it was available now. If anything the depreciation on a performance model would be more hence worse resale.
  17. B

    Supercharger - Tenterfield, NSW

I posted it in the other thread a while back but the NSW Govt funding allowed for changes to the terms and conditions as they deemed at anytime. So perhaps we will see more of this 'flexibility' at locations to allow for the rollout to be as quick as possible.

Charging at home at rented house [in Australia]

If any of my tenants wanted to install a wall charger or even a 15amp circuit at the property I would tell them to go for it. I probably would also chip in for part of the wiring as they can't take that with them when leave. Why make things hard especially if they are good tenants.

Same. I don't think I could ever go back unless there is some breakthrough tech.

    The ‘Weight’ of EVs

Should take a model Y for a spin, that is a barge.

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

I love one pedal driving - Seriously cannot understand why most EV's don't have it. Makes the driving experience/effort so much better. I went with my son and test drove the Atto 3 which he had on order (now cancelled after the test drive) and it was a shame that it didn't have it. He is going...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I was like you and didn't upgrade for a while due to Tesla Vision however after using it for quite a while now I believe AP is much better. Note that I only use AP on freeways or dual carriage highways. Phantom Braking is almost nonexistent. I can sometimes feel the car come off the accelerator...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Driving 50km a day could just use the 10amp charger. Try it first before paying to get 15amp circuit. Your solar system size is more than adequate too.

    NSW EV charging master plan

Working alongside Gov for the last 23 years it always amazes me how these 'wishlist' projects morph over time. Remember that the doc's do state that conditions for the funding can change without notice. I suspect there might be a bit of this to happen to allow the chargers to get installed.

Windscreen stone chip repair - Tesla service center appointment or local repairer?

Have you let them know? That's pretty poor workmanship.

Replacing Tyres on Model 3 - Tesla versus Tyre store

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can recommend a wheel alignment expert for Tesla, wifey hit a pothole and car is pulling right! Not convinced to go to Tesla as I believe that it wasn't aligned correctly in the first place. Located in Hills district but will travel.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I am actually getting more or less the same nags as I always have. Sometimes it happens and yet other times I don't get any at all. Even yesterday I did a trip for about 100km on AP and was lucky to get one nag. Can't work out why this happens but the less the better. My thinking is Tesla have...

    NRMA fast charging network

Yep totally agree. Weeding out the cheapos that do have access to home charging yet congest the AC chargers and make it difficult for those that would actually pay to use them. My son will probably be in that boat, no access to home charging. That is if he goes ahead with the purchase of the...

    NRMA fast charging network

Yes I wish all operators started charging even if it was just a token fee equivalent to a standard consumer tariff. At most places free chargers may not be necessary to attract patronage any longer and may actually be working against them. There was a queue at a local shopping centre for the...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

So have been on 2022.40.1 for a few days now and looks like it has been pulled due to a critical bug with Ryzen screen blacking out. Hoping to move off it soon as my AP has been sketchy as since receiving this 'backdate'.

    NSW EV charging master plan

Yeah I thought that too, but wonder for many of these sites if it's the access to the power requirements?

    NSW EV charging master plan

I assume you asking about the gen 3 chargers at an airbnb? I had only just started to look into it but hadn't thought about charging guests TBH. Our other places are permanent and semi-permanent so wasn't toying with EV chargers on those but if a tenant wanted needed it then I would install. I...

    NSW EV charging master plan

Sure that is not in dispute. I have a couple of places there and generally stay at Booker Bay which is not always rented. I only use the granny charger but am thinking about installing a gen 3 to make it more appealing in the Airbnb pool but that is another story. At most it is a 200km return...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Nothing much to it. Radio station logos and long press drivers door to unlock all doors and boot. Just my luck to get a release so early and there is nothing to it.....hehe
  37. B

    NSW EV charging master plan

Yeah, thats a bit off the beaten track. The peninsula swells in the holidays and there isn't much there in the way of chargers but nonetheless a little strange for such a large presence of chargers. I would have thought 2-4 would be sufficient in that locale.
  38. B

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I really hate it when someone gets a software update and I am waiting days or weeks, it makes me feel inadequate and not at all special. But I am one of those guys now - downloading 2022.40.1 right now It's probably just a few bug fixes as no release notes yet

    ChargeFox EV charging Network

Yep, used the chargefox card at Goulburn last Thursday as only 1 of the 350kW chargers is working but it doesn't have the screen in operation, and it has been like that for ages. Having the card makes it super simple almost as quick as Tesla SC.
  40. B

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

It could go the other way too. A faster rack allows the driver to move the car with less input which could help in situations that require this. I like the direct a fast rack in the 3 and I think that you get used to it very quickly. When I jump into any of our standard cars I feel like they are...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I didn't check for an update in the car, it was just notified via the app. If your VIN isn't worthy of the update then it won't matter checking for it or not.

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

Could it be that scan my tesla is out and not reporting some values correctly? By rights, if the buffer being reported by scan my tesla is that large then your range on the car screen would be way low and pretty sure the internet would have blown up by now with people reporting that there cars...

Y RWD Supercharging 170 kW Max?

250 kW would be for the LR and performance models. 170 kW for the RWD with LFP.
  47. B

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

I don't think the energy buffer is correct. The car he used was brand new so the battery wouldn't have been calibrated as it probably never had a full charge so the BMS would be way out. I read somewhere else that the buffer can display as such until it gets a full charge(s) and I know that...

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

Posted this on Whirlpool but for those that don't play with the kids here you go. It's interesting and also illustrates why going beyond zero in a LFP Tesla might not be such a good idea.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

That really sucks if they are prioritizing the higher profit margin model Y over model 3. Feeling for all those waiting since very early this year!
