FM Radio Solution for Upgraded MCU2 cars?

I think a solution like this would be the answer for us : 3rd Party interface for MCU2 to Analogue AM/FM/XM Radio

3rd Party interface for MCU2 to Analogue AM/FM/XM Radio

I have read through this thread, but I don’t recall seeing that anyone successfully activated the replacement digital radio with the new MCU2 retrofit.

3rd Party interface for MCU2 to Analogue AM/FM/XM Radio

I haven’t seen any data on owners of Tesla Model S and X vehicles to know with certainty: 1) The generational distribution of owners 2) The preference and usage of radio vs streaming services of millennials, or other generations for that matter. You are certainly entitled to your preference...

3rd Party interface for MCU2 to Analogue AM/FM/XM Radio

I’ve been watching and waiting for a solution to the deprecation of AM/FM/XM radio that results when upgrading MCU1 to MCU2. So far, I’ve been disappointed that Tesla has not provided a migration solution. Further, I have seen several threads where individuals have developed and installed MCU2...

    AP2 (HW2) to HW3 (no MCU2 upgrade)

Yes, they are about 1.5 inches long (see picture). I assume they need to remove the MCU in order to do UV screen treatment then ? Am I going to have rattles with a poorly mounted MCU now ?
  14. C

    AP2 (HW2) to HW3 (no MCU2 upgrade)

I had my MS in for service last month for a headlight replacement and UV treatment on MCU 1 screen. When I picked up my vehicle, there were two long screws in the cup holder. I think they have something to do with mounting or adjusting the UV lamp fixture and were simply forgotten by the tech.

EAP Break Checked the car I passed

Yes I don’t know what it is with overpasses but I’ve seen this often. I have seen severe events of braking with earlier versions on the model S. It’s not clear why the NN has problems with overpasses

Alert tones when rolling through stop sign with AP 2.0 on 2018.21.9

It varies but when I saw this it was at the point where I should have stopped. It wa similar to AEB alerting and I’m not convinced the signs were the cause, but it seemed like it at the time.
  26. C

Slowing for a sign, just bot the one I'd expect.

When driving manually I’ve noticed collision alert audio tones when approaching sop signs a bit too fast or when rolling through stop signs with recent software update. It appears that the software is either reading the stop signs or reacting to the intersection through some sensor or data source.

Not a Tesla Fan Boy But....

I can’t remain silent any longer. Yes there have been missed deadlines (most self imposed), and slips in schedule, and a few mistakes have inevitably occurred, but all things considered, the employees and leadership of Tesla have achieved beyond that of any comparable company. They have...

Alert tones when rolling through stop sign with AP 2.0 on 2018.21.9

Has anyone noticed when driving without AP 2.0 engaged, getting collision avoidance alert tones when approaching a stop sign/intersection a bit too quickly, or when rolling through without a full stop ? This, with no vehicles in front ? I noticed this shortly after the 21.9 update and...

    Updated autopilot sucks!

This update to 21.9 is just fine so stop the complaining please ! I’ve been testing it today and the behaviors are getting more sophisticated with each release. 21.9 is better. The nags are not noticeably different for me with a S100D AP 2 vehicle. Tesla keep the features and refinements...

Can't upgrade to 72 amp charger

I purchased an April 2017 S100D new and It only has 48A onboard charger. When I contacted them for an upgrade to 72A they told me it couldn’t be done and they have refused to explain why. This is really frustrating since I went to the trouble and expense of installing a 100A circuit to my wall...

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

My car shows it is on 2018.12 but the release notes are different. There is no mention of navigation or maps.

    Software Update 2018.12

Same here. Got the update and all the release notes say is that the frunk and trunk can be opened remotely with the release (2018.12), but we had that with .4. I can’t say I notice anything different about the navigation or the maps look or feel. I may be missing it though as I haven’t been...

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

In my opinion, at this point in development of AP, it should be an absolute priority that AP detect stationary objects and provide a suitable mitigating control. I don’t really see the point to AP, unless this problem is reliably solved. Lane tracking, steering and TACC are useful features...

802.11g Not Much Happening on Wireshark Capture

Yes you are correct. I was attempting to sniff packets over the air but was only seeing broadcast traffic. I’m not sure wireshark can sniff over the air unless airpcap is used with a usb based radio attached to the client. In this situation, my laptop has only an embedded 802.11 radio and it...

802.11g Not Much Happening on Wireshark Capture

No I’m not. However, I think the issue is my wireshark configuration. I’m going to work on that and verify captures with another device.

802.11g Not Much Happening on Wireshark Capture

Lee- I'm not even seeing the car attempt to establish the tunnels. There is absolutely nothing going on but routine LAN housekeeping protocol traffic. I would think that the MCU would be very chatty to destinations through the AP to the internet, but that is not happening.

802.11g Not Much Happening on Wireshark Capture

As I anxiously await the 2018.10.4 firmware update from the mothership, I thought I would try (first time) a little snooping of the 802.11g wireless traffic between my Model S and home AP/router (Motorola SBG6850). However, after monitoring for several hours, I noticed only a small amount of...

Tesla Model 3 Down: Won't Power Up, and is Inaccessible

Your idea to allow the owner to configure whether the charging cable locks is a good one. I would suggest that the feature be GPS-based so that one could add locations where you would prefer to override locking, such as when charging at the home base.

Tesla SC says no Upgrade to High Amp Charger for early 2017 MS

I am considering adding a Model X to our family but I won’t make a decision until this onboard charger upgrade is either resolved or answered with an appropriate technical explanation.

Tesla SC says no Upgrade to High Amp Charger for early 2017 MS

Thanks for the data point. From a manufacture timing perspective, it certainly seems my vehicle was built during a time that the internals should have been capable. I’m thinking that perhaps Tesla quietly ceased performing onboard charger upgrades for a subset of vehicles in this time period...

Tesla SC says no Upgrade to High Amp Charger for early 2017 MS

Thanks. That is similar to the experience I had when deciding to purchase. Unfortunately, my Monroney sticker mentions nothing about charging capacity.
  46. C

Tesla SC says no Upgrade to High Amp Charger for early 2017 MS

Congratulations on being able to get the upgrade. I assume your vehicle is a “refresh” with the newer fascia ?
  47. C

Tesla SC says no Upgrade to High Amp Charger for early 2017 MS

You are getting a different answer than me. I can only speculate but maybe my hi voltage junction box,or cooling system, is not rated to support 72 A charging. It would be very helpful to charge an empty battery pack in 6 hours vs 9. At least to have the option.
  48. C

Tesla SC says no Upgrade to High Amp Charger for early 2017 MS

Yes I have tried to be clear that I am asking about replacing the existing onboard charger. Unfortunately, I am getting responses from customer service that reflect a lack of appropriate technical background.
  49. C

Tesla SC says no Upgrade to High Amp Charger for early 2017 MS

I have not been able to identify a technical reason that blocks replacement and upgrade of the onboard charger other than Tesla doesn’t want to do it. It seems arbitrary to me since I have seen where others have indeed been able to get Tesla to replace and update onboard chargers in the Model...

Low pitch rattle coming from front - no fix available?

I think I have the same “vibration/rattle” with my April 2017 built Model S. I did not notice it for the first few thousand miles, although it may have been there at delivery.
