Have you lost faith in Tesla?

Right, I had a hard time believing this Spitfire windshield wiper story. Who ever heard of a Spitfire starting when it is raining? :D

Have you lost faith in Tesla?

My understanding is that Musk wanted Tesla to make sure that other manufacturers couldn't undermine Tesla by restricting Tesla's access to various OEM parts. In the case of the windshield wipers, by using Tesla software to control the wipers, he eliminated one of the many possible choke points...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Before I had a Tesla I never realized how dangerous and important orange cones are. My car evaluates all orange objects, and declares many but not all of them orange cones. The other day I noticed it was visualizing orange cones on the other side of a jersey barrier in a construction area...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Yes, and there are only a few turns on the trip, most of which are either tricky, or I know will give the car (and humans) problems. For example, one is a very tight right turn that has a "no turn on red" sign. The light seems to always be red, so the car will try to turn when it shouldn't...

    FSD Beta 10.69

I don't think so, at least not for all of the trip. A combination of NoA, FSD, and a bit of AP (not sure why). Lots of good FSD stuff was happening, like obeying traffic lights, letting me go more than 5 mph over the speed limit, and random lane changes (I have automatic lane changes turned...

    FSD Beta 10.69

First long (330 miles) drive with latest FSDb. It was great! It was terrible! It is a great TACC + lane keep system, and it can change lanes with the press of a button on the yoke. Big roads, little roads, windy roads, hilly roads, it would slow down to a sensible speed on curves if needed...

    TESLA UI / UX

I don't understand why critical alerts et al are in small red type at the bottom of the screen. For example, if it thinks you aren't paying attention, why not display in big friendly letters before it kicks you out of Autopilot?

Yolk turn signal button issues. Does not register a click.

Yes, I am hoping it is just user error, but today it seemed like the button area wouldn't move at all when I pressed it, almost like it was stuck "down" (or maybe up?)
  9. L

Yolk turn signal button issues. Does not register a click.

Did you end up having to get his fixed? At first when this happened to me I thought I was pressing in the wrong spot, but today it definitely didn't work for one right turn, was fine for the next right turn

Anyone experienced a complete fsd refusal to drive on the 10.69 builds?

Bad map data? On a previous build there was one lane on one road where FSDb did this. As best I could tell it thought it was a left turn lane that had ended or was about to end. It doesn't do it on that road in the 10.69 build
  12. L

Have you lost faith in Tesla?

I don't have much faith in Musk. Tesla needs leadership that can take it from being a hobby shop to a mature business without losing what makes Tesla's cars great. Could happen. Steve Jobs v1.0 -> John Sculley was a disaster, while Steve Jobs 2.0 -> Tim Cook has been a great success

How is my '22 MSLR in the snow?

The Continental all seasons worked well on my long uphill gravel driveway when it was covered with a few inches of snow and some ice. Being able to raise the car also helped. Of course if I expected to have to routinely drive on snow covered roads I would want real snow tires

Poll: Will hands free driving be a big win for Tesla?

Eliminating the nag != hands free driving. In 3+ year of Tesla ownership I have found the nag has a near 100% false positive rate for me, and reduces my ability to pay attention to traffic. I keep my hands on the wheel close to 100% of the time when using AP, NOAP, and FSDb
  15. L

Was I just able to "nudge" an update to my car?

My recent experience is that if you go to the software tab it will display something like "checking for updates..." and after a short amount of time it will either start downloading an update or say something like "software is update as January 2, 2023". No need to do anything else. This...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Does it stay in its lane on marked, winding roads? And on marked, winding, hilly roads? I just got .25.1 after 4 months without FSDb (new car) and I remember FSDb being terrible on that type of road in 12.3.20. Overall 25.x does seem to be much better than 12.3.20 in the few miles I have used...

Car won’t take charge on airport 120V

They changed this at some point? The owner's manual for the refresh S says Charge Port Light • WHITE (OR LIGHT BLUE): The charge port door is open. Model S is ready to charge and the connector is not inserted, or the charge port latch is unlocked and the connector is ready to be removed...

NO Tesla Super Chargers on New York Thruway

Hope you and your family are okay. The New Paltz and Kingston chargers are easier to get to, and New Paltz is 250kW. I think there is an old NYS regulation that says only chargers without proprietary connectors can be installed on the Thruway. The reg dates back to the time when "everyone...

    Elon & Twitter

Public health policy has been neglected for decades, i.e. since 1980. Elections are the way to change these things. We as a nation seem to lack the knowledge and political will to do much about it. Maybe if COVID had killed 10 million instead of "only" one million we would behave differently?

    FSD Beta 10.69

Whenever someone says they have no problem with the Driver Monitoring System, I think of this Mrs. Hard. You must learn resignation, my dear; for though we lose our [FSDbeta and Autopilot], yet we should not lose our patience. See me, how calm I am. Miss Nev. Ay, people are generally calm...

Have any new testers with a safety score above 80 received the FSD Beta 10.69.2.2 update yet?

This has happened to me twice since August 10. Currently once again in the queue with Safety Score of 93 running 2022.36.6, hoping this time I will stay in the queue until I get FSDb

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

Not sure if this is unique to Model S refresh, but it didn't happen with my Model 3... Since getting my MS in August I have twice requested FSD beta, and both times the request was canceled after several days. That is I made the request, was able to obsess over my Safety Score for a few days...

Autopilot disabled, "AEB Disabled" message in 2022.36.2

Right, this is a different message. The message I am getting is "Automatic Emergency Braking is Disabled" and Autopilot doesn't work. But traffic aware cruise control works correctly even though I expected no AEB would mean no TACC. A reboot seems to have fixed the problem, with any luck...

Autopilot disabled, "AEB Disabled" message in 2022.36.2

First drive on 2022.36.2. At first Autopilot refused to engage and I got a persistent "Automatic Emergency Braking is Disabled". Surprisingly, TACC cruise control still worked correctly. Pulled over, rebooted the car, cleaned cameras, and everything worked for awhile. Then I got the big red...

Any way to dispute FSD strike?

My theory is that insta strikes are caused by some sort of "race condition" where one warning, e.g. "Move Away From the Scary Orange Cones!" prevents the nag warning from appearing until it is too late. I wonder what happens if the car has a wheel torque warning and a camera warning at the same...

2022.28.1 vastly improved driver monitoring system, almost no nags

I realize most people don't have problem with the previous systems. I want an accurate driver monitoring system, i.e. no false positives or false negatives, not one with nags under random circumstances for me and my fellow Autopilot minority members. In the past I have experienced close to...

2022.28.1 vastly improved driver monitoring system, almost no nags

Second drive on same route, now using 2022.28.2. Only 2 nags. I noticed both early, probably because I am finally getting used to watching the IC instead of the touchscreen. Best of all, one of the nags was a true positive, i.e. I had in fact taken my hands off the wheel. This is probably...

2022.28.1 vastly improved driver monitoring system, almost no nags

Updated to 2022.28.1 yesterday, and had zero warnings and only three nags on a 40 mile drive. This is a drive that on previous trips using 2022.25.5 had numerous nags and loud warnings, and one case of autopilot jail. I did try to get it to complain by focusing on the right side of my lane and...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Yes, it seems that buying another Tesla makes you a new Tesla owner, regardless of how long you have been driving a Tesla, or whether or not you previously had FSDb. I will probably do what I did last time, which is turn off my FSDb request so I can get regular software updates, and make the...

Tesla tire repair kit doesn't work with refreshed Model S 15.5V "12V" outlet?

Mobile service came to the house today and gave me a new tire repair kit. The new kit also says it is for 12V. It seems to work when plugged in the accessory outlet. I didn't try to use it to add air to the tires, so maybe it will fail when there is a load on it? Maybe the first one was just...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

The solution seems to be to make an appointment in the Tesla app to have the winter tires installed, and include all the details about your winter tire order. This seems to result in the tires being at the SC. Or at least it opens up a line of communication with the SC. This is what I did 3...

Tesla tire repair kit doesn't work with refreshed Model S 15.5V "12V" outlet?

That was what I thought. I have a mobile appointment scheduled for Monday, so with luck they will give me a replacement that works for more than 10 seconds, or fix the outlet. And yes, nothing special about the pump. Junk, but relatively good looking junk

"12 Volt" Power Outlet in my Tesla Model S Plaid Has Burned Out 3 ~$1000 Escort Redline 360c detectors

Tesla tire repair kit doesn't work with refreshed Model S 15.5V "12V" outlet?

My 2022 refresh Model S came with the Tesla tire repair kit. Today when I plugged it into the "12V" (really 15.5V per manual) outlet and tried to add air to the tires ir ran for a few seconds then stopped. I could not revive it. Someone else posted about the outlet destroying radar detectors...

    Screen viewing by old eyes

I use these magnetic "clip" on lenses for sunglasses, but they can be used with any type of lenses to modify an existing pair of glasses. Chemistrie - Eyenavision The advantage is that they are very easy to attach and detach, much easier and safer than switching between two pairs of glasses.

Nag in Model S versus Model 3

That may explain some of the strangeness. I may be seeing the the warning and tugging on the wheel looking at the message to see it has disappeared, when what it wants is for me to not look at the screen or tug on the wheel.

Any way to dispute FSD strike?

I wonder if they are reviewing cabin camera data and seeing a lot of false positives. I don't recall getting put in Autopilot jail when I had FSD beta on my 3, but it has happened to me 5 times in about 800 miles on the S. Not obvious how Tesla makes the system sensitive without making it so...

Nag in Model S versus Model 3

I'll have to try that. Do you get a different message or sound when it reminds you? I had FSD Beta 2022.12.3.20 on my M3 and didn't have problem with Autopilot disengaging. It does seem to have gotten worse in the S since I updated to 2022.24.5. How long did you have the Plaid before you got...

Any way to dispute FSD strike?

As best I can tell most people naturally resist the steering enough that they rarely see the blue (or white) screen. The rest of us (less than 5%?) need to develop some trick to mimic resisting autosteer, and pay close attention to the flashing lights. Unfortunately, paying too much attention...

Nag in Model S versus Model 3

Not noticing the white edges seems to happen more often now that I have 2022.24.5 . Unfortunately it seems I have to learn to make watching the IC a higher priority when using AP than watching the road. I wish there was an (optional) way to replace the white band with some sort of audible...

That's my understanding. All should fit newer model 3s except the frunk mat. I have no way to confirm this.
