Which self-hosted logging services do you use, and experience?

I'm using TeslaMate. I haven't dug into it so far as to create my own graphs yet. But it's using Grafana so you can do all sort of things if your willing to spend the time designing the dashboards and such. Will have to check out TeslaLogger.

You can also access the Manual on the screen in the car via Controls > Service > Owners Manual

    What year is my Y?

Tesla doesn't always announce changes either. Sometimes they just start showing up. Even mid-model year.

Software Update Download gets stuck at 50%

It's pretty normal. Big files. Slow processor. Long time to decompress the downloaded package and verify checksums is my guess with just one big progress bar for the whole process. The actual download finishes relatively quickly if you watch traffic I suspect. I would do so myself but I can't...

    Tire rotation

I meant that I hadn't heard of Tesla mobile service having such a thing yet. Not that it had never been done.
  6. W

    Tire rotation

That is likely not something we would be able to answer. The reason being we don't know what mobile service in your area has for equipment. If they show up in a big van that has tire balancing equipment installed in the back then sure. But I've never heard of such a thing yet. I'm not saying it...

CA DMV failing Tesla car for behind the wheel drive test

You might want to try talking to the manager about the test, BEFORE the test. That seems to be the recommendation Teslarati got anyway. “In the event (that) a customer has questions about taking a driving test in a particular vehicle, they should ask to speak with a manager before the test. DMV...

Blog Rivian Gets Range Rating of 316 Miles for R1T Pickup

All fair and valid points, however, new lighter batteries with faster charging are on the way and that may change the equations a bit. But I'll admit it's possible that it will never be a practical idea.

Blog Rivian Gets Range Rating of 316 Miles for R1T Pickup

The F150 Lightning will be a great truck. I have no doubts of that. The Cybertruck, Jury is out, Tesla has so far made fantastic vehicles (albeit with some growing pains) but the Cybertruck is so radically different that who knows how it will fair in the real world. Rivian? I wish them all the...

Blog Rivian Gets Range Rating of 316 Miles for R1T Pickup

I think that for some applications having some sort of additional battery system in the trailer and way to connect it to the EV is going to be the answer. Not for every thing, lots of basic trailers without batteries will still be out there, but in some instances I think that is going to make...

Blog Rivian Gets Range Rating of 316 Miles for R1T Pickup

Don't underestimate the drag of the bed on a truck. Especially when it's filled with all sort of oddly shaped items that are over the height of the side rails.
  12. W

Blog Rivian Gets Range Rating of 316 Miles for R1T Pickup

The difference is that the 50k cybertruck has the built in cover for the bed making the vehicle far more aerodynamic. You can fit a lot in the bed and still use that cover. That makes the cybertruck great for the type who just enjoy driving a truck but rarely tow or haul things in the bed. I...

So real world range like 250 at least. And with a load of equipment in the bed probably half that. Pass!

Tesla Claims Warranty is Void Due to Aftermarket Puddle Lights

Um... you just open the phone app and turn on the climate control. Do that before you even walk out to the car and won't ever be an issue.

Had my Y for three months, five weeks in service center

You are welcome. If you truly are concerned that the car may have issues that are just unrepairable definitely research California lemon laws. There are also usually attorney's that specialize in lemon law cases that can be found. Hopefully you don't need to go that far but don't be afraid to...
  16. W

Had my Y for three months, five weeks in service center

As the OP is in Canada and you are in California his results may not be applicable to yours. In your case, lemon laws are a thing. Though I don't think they would apply yet in your situation after only two visits. Having a problem with a new car isn't uncommon, as much as we would prefer a brand...

Paying for car without forking over my online banking creds?

For your checking account idea, maybe. If it was with a bank you had no other accounts at, sure, but that would require you to get an account, usually you have to be a client for 90 days+ for large transactions to be approved though. If you got a new account at your existing bank, then you might...

Paying for car without forking over my online banking creds?

Changing your credentials won't remove Plaid's access to your account if your bank supports OAuth. As I've already said, in that case they never see them in the first place. You would have to go into your settings on your banking site and find the authorization for Plaid and revoke it. That will...

Nope. It was camp mode. I use it at the drive in here all the time.
  21. W

Run theater mode while not in driver seat

Yes. Many times. Never with someone left in the car though so I could be wrong in OPs case.
  22. W

Run theater mode while not in driver seat

Leave a keycard in the car and lay it on the reader maybe? Or make sure you wife's phone is paired as a key and she has the app running all the time. Having a key actively detected might work.
  23. W

Run theater mode while not in driver seat

Nah, it would still turn off the screen if you got out. It just doesn't lock the doors or turn off the climate control when you walk away.
  24. W

Run theater mode while not in driver seat

Weight sensors in the seats. My screen stays on if I get out of the car and leave a passenger in the front seat. This is probably just one of those times when developers said, "well you can't reach the screen from the back seat so why leave it on?" without really thinking about things like...

    Tire rotation

Well, I can see scenarios where it could be worse for short time period. But those are all scenarios to be avoided for other reason anyway. For instance if a downward force was applied to the unsupported corner before you got the jack/stand under it.
  26. W

    Tire rotation

You are missing my point. They didn't lift TWO corners. They lifted at ONE point. This is the same stress as having two jack stands already in place and jacking up the third. A corner is dangling unsupported. Would I leave it like that for hours? No. Would I get under the car while it's like...

Just learned MY has dual zone climate control

Understandable. I'm kind of iffy on the whole lack of proper manual door release thing myself. But I'm alone in my car 99% of the time so it's not really a deal breaker for me. But if I regularly had family passengers it would be something to seriously make me consider other models of car.

    Tire rotation

Mobile service came to rotate mine in a Model s with a single floor jack in the trunk. They just put the jack under the rear jackpoint and jack it up until both the rear and front tire were off the ground. The frames on these are Incredibly stiff and can take a lot.
  29. W

Just learned MY has dual zone climate control

They never had it. Model 3 doesn't either. What you are doing isn't in the manual because it's not intended to be done by Tesla. I suspect those wires are there because they use common components on the inside of the doors but then have different panels. I would guess they don't expose it...

Just learned MY has dual zone climate control

A trick question (I don't know if you intended it to be or not) in that you can't open the rear doors of a model y in the event of power failure (from the inside anyway, they are mute on the exterior I admit). But, they do tell you that in the manual.
  31. W

Model Y , black vs white interior comfort difference.

The white interior is not hard to clean at all. I have yet to have anything stain it. Obviously if you eat in the car crumbs on the seat show more easily but I feel that is a good think as I'd rather see them to clean them up than have them hide and decay. It's not like any traditional white...

Just learned MY has dual zone climate control

Sigh, if only there were some sort of documentation on our cars, which told about all of the features and how to use them. Something like a manual. And imagine if it was stored in the glovebox when you got the car! It could even be accessible on the touch screen, or the internet! Wouldn't that...

Model Y - Is my car totaled?

um, what? That's what you do BEFORE you have an accident lol
  34. W

Can you fit two Rollators (Walkers?)

You don't get Autopilot in Tow mode either way.
  35. W

Can you fit two Rollators (Walkers?)

You can also order it with the hitch and they only charge $1000. (Even though I understand they still install it as the local service center before they deliver it. Could be wrong about that.)
  36. W

Model Y - Is my car totaled?

Is it "totalled" in the sense it is unrepairable? Maybe not. Doesn't look like it got into the frame and battery could be ok. But, insurance could still declare it a loss when the repair price comes back depending on their current assessed value of the vehicle.

Still No Document About Loan Payment

That is from the last page of my loan agreement document. Your contract might look different due to your being in a different state. Most states have standard contract form for auto sales and they aren't always identical. I just posted it as an example of the sort of thing to look for. If your...

    Noisy Sub Trunk Covers

Unless you are hitting very large bumps at very high speed that cover should not be lifting enough to be falling back down and making a noise. Are you sure it's seated correctly? Does it "wobble" when you push on it at corners? My guess is it's either not fully seated properly due to simple...

    Question with Tesla Go Anywhere....

Just so you know, the online tesla planner does not plan like the in car navigation will. I won't say in car navigation will map this route better by default, but the website is not the same. I would guess that it's probably not got current supercharger data and so tried to plan you a route that...

    How comfortable is comfort steering?

While I understand her point entirely about the steering, I think of this as a safety feature for the rest of us on the road with her. Having been a passenger in multiple crashes caused by people "palming" the steering before I was even 16, nothing scares me more. I hope it forces her to keep a...

Driving from Orlando to Key West

Odd. When I put 90% I get stops at Delray Beach and Marathon. Still, it's calculating for current traffic and weather and things as well so that probably accounts for the differences. I was wrong about being planned to stop at Marathon inbound though. Clearly there are plenty of scenarios where...

Driving from Orlando to Key West

You didn't enter your starting charge as 100% I think. I only show a stop at Pembroke Pines for this trip and arriving at 15% charge to KW. Obviously if I put a desired arrival charge it would be different, but since I don't really know what charge the OP would like to arrive at I'm leaving it...

Driving from Orlando to Key West

Because the navigation doesn't try to get you there with a full battery. It just gets you there. Tesla navigation assumes you will charge at your destination basically. If you want to arrive at Key West with a certain percentage of battery left your better off planning your trip with ABRP. Or...

Had my Y for three months, five weeks in service center

YMMV on opting out. Some states have laws that always allow you to opt out, some don't allow binding arbitration agreements at all, some say nothing about it which essentially means you can't opt out if Tesla doesn't let you. If your buddy didn't tell you for free how to opt out then hire him...
