Yup, interested and thank you for putting it together!

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

With the recent price increases in Model Y/3, I am much more inclined to keep my car. Model Y is 10K more than only a few years ago!

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

This is great! I am looking forward to the announcement.

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

I will just throw these numbers out there for folks that live in states that charge Personal property tax every year on cars like VA. Also, we do not get a tax break on trade ins. So, if I buy a new Model Y performance for 65K, I will end up paying around 8K in the next 4 years- $5500 in...

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

I also thought I would never sell the car few years ago! I wish CT or Rivian pickup were available now. That would have been an easier decision :)

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Curious to what you got from Vroom. I have 100K miles, typical scratches/dents for a 8 year old car, and their offer was 24K, which I though was low. I have not taken it to Carmax since I know they only wholesale cars over 100K, so their offer will be even lower.

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Yeah, my heart agrees with you :) I also have free Supercharging+ connectivity, though I don't use the supercharger frequently since the charging rates got nuked few years ago! Only have one drive unit which was replaced about 60K miles ago. So at this point, I am mainly worried about the...

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

You nailed it. I love the design of S, handling of RWD, prefer the cargo space + jumper seats for kids. It's been a great car for the last 8 years. I don't like SUVs, but need the cargo space at the moment. Honestly, I wish I had few more years to make this decision like you.

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Based on the feedback so far, I am going to test the market. If I get the anywhere near the KBB private party value, I will most likely sell it.

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Thanks. I had hoped that by now Tesla would have reduced the replacement cost for the batteries. I am hesitating because for me, the Y or 3 doesn't represent a significant upgrade and I still love my car!

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Appreciate the input. I was just glad to hear that there is a less expensive option. I have about 6 months to decide

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Yes, I did. I get his concerns, but I only use my S locally at this point, so lack of auto pilot, slow charging etc doesn't bother my anymore. If I can get a 4yr/50K warranty on a rebuild battery for 10-12K, I think I can live with those limitations. It's definitely not ideal but it's lot...

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Thanks for linking that post. So the latest cost is around 10K for a refurb battery replacement! That may prompt me to keep it..

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

I have an early 2014 Model S with 100K miles that I love but I am not sure if it's wise to keep it past the 8 year battery/drivetrain warranty. I have had some repairs done every year for the last 4 years since the warranty expired. The costs have been < 600/year for those repairs so far. I am...

    LTE Retrofit $200

Mine is early 2014 build. They had some issues getting Maps to load after the upgrade but they resolved it. So far I don't have any issues, but it's only been few weeks.

4+ days to update eMMC and LTE Upgrade?

So far no bubbles on the instrument cluster, but I hear you. At worst, I will lose few hundred over the current replacement price but who knows what the replacement price will be in the future :)
  17. N

4+ days to update eMMC and LTE Upgrade?

Because I don't see any value in spending additional money to upgrade the MCU in my pre AP car. I already have the LTE upgrade, so not really missing much. Also, I rather not lose the radio (FM/AM) functions.

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

Unfortunately, they said they would not cover the IC upgrade cost. I think because the screen replacement is half the cost of the IC upgrade. My car is pre auto pilot and I have already done an LTE upgrade, so I don't see a lot of value in putting in extra $$ in the MCU upgrade.

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

In theory I agree, but I am good with 50% deal considering I already had some bubbles in the screen. I love the car and plan to own it for a long time. So, I also want to maintain a good relationship with the local dealership, so that they are responsive in the future.

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

Yes, I complained about it. They said they lay the screen flat during repair so the liquid shifted. After I escalated the issue, they agreed to split the cost of the new screen with me. The center screen replacement now is around $780

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

I got my car back on the 5th day. The screen has been pretty responsive so far and the LTE seems to help streaming as well. I hope the screen wake time is reduced as well. Also, be aware that when they do this repair, any bubbles you have on the screen may get (lot) bigger due to the movement...

4+ days to update eMMC and LTE Upgrade?

Tesla agreed to split the cost of the new screen with me. Kudos to them for resolving this quickly. Though it will cost me about $400 to replace the screen, I think the offer was fair considering the car is over 7 years old now. Still love this car!

4+ days to update eMMC and LTE Upgrade?

Quick update. I got my car back after 5 days. However, when they replaced the chip, they introduced lots of bubbles in my screen. I am currently in talks with them to see what can be done. So far they are telling me that I would have to pay to replace the screen! I did have few small bubbles...

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

How long was your car in service? My '14 S has been in there for 4 days for the eMMC and LTE upgrade. They are having issue loading Maps/Navigation on the car according to the latest update.

4+ days to update eMMC and LTE Upgrade?

Thanks for the info! They are reaching out their "internal" teams to see what needs to be done, so hoping they will do the steps above. My eMMC hadn't failed, but since I was doing the LTE upgrade it seemed like a "good" time to request the eMMC replacement. My navigation was working just fine...

4+ days to update eMMC and LTE Upgrade?

I dropped off my '14 S 4 days ago to do the eMMC replacement and LTE upgrade. Service is still trying finish the the work and they say that they are having issues uploading Navigation/Maps to the car. Anyone have similar experience?

Ah, I didn't know. I was holding off on upgrading but this seems like a fair price now.

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

That's what I am thinking, but wondering if I there will further price cuts if I wait until right before 3G expiration. I can live with the bubbles and screen is slower but not dead yet. I don't like the option of losing the FM radio or dealing with backup cam issues as reported here and...

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

My pre autopilot 2014S needs an LTE upgrade and qualifies for the eMMC repair. Should I replace just the eMMC or do the full replacement? My screen has little bubble as well, so I think I should just get the new MCU at this point.

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

How did you do that? I looked at the following instructions provided by them, and it specifically asks to remove the bumper beam. http://www.hitchpro.net/Application/support/instructions/N24958.pdf

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

Not planning to sell the car ever.. but I ever to do it, I would sell it with a stipulation and liability waiver. I also have the original cross bar that can be reinstalled back.

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

Agree with you there. Why do you want to remove the seats?

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

Hmm. definitely something to think about. I would have thought that the steel hitch would provide similar protection as the aluminum cross bar. I may swap it out for the Ecohitch version that allows the cross bar installation as well, but not sure how much utility we are going to get out of the...

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

Which tow hitch do you have? The Drawtite one specifically calls for the removal of the cross bar. I believe Ecohitch can retaint crossbar

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

Haha. I think my kids are outgrowing those seats soon anyway, so may be :)
  47. N

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

doubt it. Question is that how the tow hitch is installed? I have the cross bar, so I can always put it back. Not sure if this means that I can't use the rear seats anymore :(
  48. N

Tow Hitch with Rear Facing Seats

Hi All- I had an auto shop install the DrawTire hitch on my 2014 Model S. However, they removed the long cross bar (?) that was on the car during the installation. Is that normal? I asked them if it was safe for the kids in the Rear Facing Seats without that cross bar, and they said that it...
