Nokian WRG4 - Just Got New Rubber!

Hey Guys! just an update and its been a while. I think its about 15k on these tires now and efficiency for me has been around 450wh/mi average. Keep in mind im not on flats and a lot of up and downhills. so far it looks like its worn down to the snowflake. Meaning its not safe for snow...

    OE Model X Tires - 275/45 20 x 2

Hey all, Got 2 x 275/45R20 OE continentals off my model X to get rid of. One is pretty worn with about 10% left, perfect for spare and FREE for local pickup. Second one is pretty brand new and still got a good 90% tread left. $100 local pickup. I'd like to clear space in my garage. Second...

Mysterious FSD discount for some Model X owners

I have EAP on my 2017 X, and yea it magically went to 3k from 4k. If it was 2k I'd be seriously tempted, but no need. EAP almost drove me into a snowbank last winter season!

Nokian WRG4 - Just Got New Rubber!

Thanks StealthP3D. For the summer months I switch to my "old-school" ICE (BMW M3). :P Depending on how things go for these may get a second set. I haven't had enough of time on these guys.

    Tire replacement time.

I think the Scoprion Verde A/S+ are great for max-mileage. I doubt you're going to be hitting snow, etc. My choice were between Scorpion Zero A/S+ or Nokian WR G4 since I do a lot of driving up to the mountains in the winter and don't want to switch to a winter set. Heard really good things...

    Tire replacement time.

I've gotten a set of Nokian (Finnish company) WRG4s that are winter rated and in San Francisco, currently they have been running really well for me and quiet. I drive up to the mountains (Tahoe so snow) so these are the best for me. I never tried the Scorpions.

Nokian WRG4 - Just Got New Rubber!

They are not so well known in the US, but for those who have been looking for winter tires they have been looking at the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 and many loved it. They are based in Finland with a distribution center in Chicago (I think). Since they are popular in Europe especially in Nordic...

Nokian WRG4 - Just Got New Rubber!

Update after 2 days. Still great as they are pretty much now worked in. - Road noise is very quiet, impressed about this and comparable to the OE Contis - Not scientific but over the same road I ran Decibel X. OE CONTIs averaged 86.9 db and the Nokians averaged 85.6 - Energy-wise still...

Nokian WRG4 - Just Got New Rubber!

Get your head out of the gutter, not about protection for nocturnal activities...... Talking about car shoes... I had to replace my tires since my OE Contis were running about 3.5mm in the front. The rear was about 5.5 or so... Thinking about selling them since one of the rears was replaced...

Damaged Tire on MX and Roadside Assistance

thanks bFlat, I was too much in a hurry as I had a planned trip up to Truckee/Tahoe for skiing. Though with the new one and about to replace in about maybe 6 months or so, going to look for a 20x9.5 Tesla wheel so I can mount that as a spare to keep in the garage. America's Tires in Milbrae...

Damaged Tire on MX and Roadside Assistance

Just gotta follow some guidelines on this and mileage does matter but tread depth even more. Yea you can make arguments to both sides but once you past the 4/32" mark yes you should replace at least both. Right now the tread depth is 7.14mm (new) and 5.5mm (~7/32). I'm planning to replace in...

How to Get Under 310 Wh/mi?

FYI - I drove from Rocklin, CA to Truckee, CA.. my usual to our family "Fortress of Solitude" and it is about 70 miles. On average I use up about 140 of "rated" range on that climb and it's cold. The worst I did was 180 of "rated" range for that, but I was going about 85mph uphill laughing at...

How to Get Under 310 Wh/mi?

Looks like you're in San Francisco. It's very difficult to get under 311 with all the hills and weight of the Model X. Where do you drive around? Highways, roads? Climbing hills? Do you have your HVAC on MAX? I'm usually around 425-500 Wh/mi in the city.... Do you have smart...

Damaged Tire on MX and Roadside Assistance

I shouldn't have to pay for the loaner or service, it is included as long as the car is still under the 4-year/50k warranty and if you extend that (my understanding). I just have to pay for the tire repair and if I don't return the loaner. Here is the agreement from them on the T&Cs. I'm just...

What is the status of the wheels and tires? Are they in "good" condition? Meaning not damaged by what looked like a t-bone and size (20, 19)? I'm very interested. based in Bay Area and make my trips out to Truckee, CA so can pick up in SAC.

Exactly, we're required to carry them in the winter when going up to Tahoe regardless if you're AWD or 4WD. Next season I'm going to be looking for a second set of wheels and winter tires. The Scorpion Winter should do fine driving from San Francisco all the way to Tahoe... Another option is...

True mileage of a 100kw MX in winter switzerland

Snow or COLD conditions such as in the mountains of the Sierras I use the rule of 50% efficiency. The X is nice but HEAVY. I used up about 180 miles of rated range going a distance of 70 miles from Rocklin, CA to Truckee, CA but of course I was going 85mph with three adults in the car and a...

Trak 4X4 Snow Chain Just... Fell Off!?!

Speed limit MAX is 30mph, looks like you were there and below it so that should be OK. I believe the missing link "no pun intended" was to check the install after a mile or so, sometimes it just needs to be tightened after a mile or so. After that it should be good. Either that or the tension...

High Amperage Charger option now included in 100D/P100D?

Here is my ModelX 100D plugged in at work with a fast charger. 72A. As mentioned the chart from Tesla doesn't look accurate past 48A.
  37. alkfung

High Amperage Charger option now included in 100D/P100D?

Yep... For Model X, on 72A I get 40 Miles per hour of charge. That was because when I bought mine it came with a 72A charger. Model X: 40 Miles per hour of charge @ 72A 30 Miles per hour of charge @ 48A Does that justify extra $1,900? Depends on your needs and if you have SCs readily...

High Amperage Charger option now included in 100D/P100D?

See below table. Not sure if it is completely accurate because on the 90A/72A "Fast Charger" at work it gives me about 40miles/hour of charge. Usually juiced up in about 2-3 hours for me. At home it costs a bit more to install the proper breakers to handle that amount so installation itself...

High Amperage Charger option now included in 100D/P100D?

Superchargers bypass the AC Onboard Charger. For most people, you don't need the 72A as that will require a 90A feed (take 80% of the feed). For example at work we only have 4 fast chargers that can provide 72A to our cars out of like 20 HPWCs. If your home can at most provide 60A that would...

True mileage of a 100kw MX in winter switzerland

yep can't blame all on Tesla as the EPA standards are that, standards established by someone or someBODY. Just take note that the numbers are practically based on average temperate climate on a flat road driving at 55mph (i believe that is the case) is pretty much what it is based on. Cold...

Constant PARKING ASSIST UNAVAILABLE while driving

Anyone run into this? Last weekend as it was snowing, coming back from Tahoe, there was a long slowdown and constantly dipped above and below 5mph, the chime kept coming on and was so annoying. We were on highway 50 through El Dorado Forrest and no we were not trying to park! :P

    MX Extended Service Agreement (ESA)

I'd advise to call in about that deductible. For me it would be worth it for an expensive car like this (failing door, spline, air suspension, etc.). Especially if you're going to keep it for a LONG time.

Anyone only getting 60% of predicted range?

If it is cold, that cuts off about 50% of the rated range. I never rely on the "range" for my X in the winter and mountains and give a 50% efficiency. Roughly 20% in normal driving (i'm quite spirited too). Environment definitely plays a role. example 1) Going from ROCKLIN, CA to TRUCKEE, CA...
