Question: How do you start FSD ??

Ok - stup1d question, I know. But seems to be falling through the cracks. All YouTube FSD videos start after it's already on. All instructions and walkthroughs somehow omit this point. How exactly do you start FSD (on residential streets)?? Do you have to be driving already and double-click the...

    Done with Teslas

I generally agree with the OP. I purchased my Tesla in 2019 - and at that time the autopilot on highway was great. The autopilot today is significantly worse, particularly since they disabled radar. It's more painful to drive on autopilot than with it off. Except when there is basically no...

I Thought FSD Was Wide Release?

Maybe. I never looked into the updates downloads before - when one showed up it just installed - whenever. Now I'm looking at it - and it doesn't make any sense. The car was downloading the update it was 68% then disappeared. Then it popped up again later and it was 50%. Now it's a day later -...

I Thought FSD Was Wide Release?

Thx guys. You may be right that the last 50% is prep after the download. I just took a short drive - the download had stopped and I assumed it's completed. But when I checked current version I was still on 2022.36.06. When I got home the car reconnected to the wifi. Sometime after it resumed...

I Thought FSD Was Wide Release?

So I did drive some miles on auto-pilot. Not quite 100 miles, more like 60. That may or may not have worked. Couple days ago the car started to download a software update - 2022.36.20 - so I'm hopeful that will include FSD. It seems stuck however. Last night it was 65% downloaded, and right now...

I Thought FSD Was Wide Release?

Thanks - we'll see if that's the case. If the requirement is 100 miles since last pushing the request button - unfortunately I just reset the counter today. Most of the time we don't drive on Autopilot either since the driving is local. But good to know. My car is 2019 Model 3 long range dual...

I Thought FSD Was Wide Release?

Same here. I did push the button on Thanksgiving day. It's now almost 10 days later and nothing. I know people with software 2022.40 cannot get it - but I am on 2022.36 so that is NOT the issue. I did sign-up for the trial before, and then cancelled before I got the FSD beta. I strongly...

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

You're speaking for "everybody" now? Quite the self-promotion there. Go tiger. It was kind of entertaining yanking your chain for a while - but even that is getting tiresome. As for productive discussion - that died about 15 posts up. You can have the last word - you seem very insistent on it.
  9. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

Buddy - you need to get out of your parents basement more. Nothing you said changed what I said - Model S redesign is a turd. From a car buyer - not an Internet posting activist.
  10. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

:) Well - your posting finally degenerated to full page personal attack - but at least we can agree on 1 thing.
  11. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

For post-refresh model S you only provided data for Q2 2022 for the US. Single country. Then you pretend that's Ok because supposedly it's not being sold elsewhere (I don't know if it is or if it's not). One data point doesn't prove anything. 95% of your data was pre-refresh Model S sales - and...
  12. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

The 2nd point was derived from the 1st. And I was specifically talking about redesigned Model S - something I pointed out repeatedly but you guys choose to ignore. I can teach you about figures of speech - how you point out something to imply something that obviously follows from it. But I guess...
  13. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

You guys continue to complain about the fact that I "continue to repeat it" - but that is exactly what you are doing; at this point everything sounds like a broken radio. I'll admit - you're wearing me down so at some point I'll stop posting this discussion in circles. You continue to mix...
  14. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

Funny - you're the guy that told me to stop posting because you consider my postings rude (not for anything directed at you - but for expressing my opinion). You must be new to the Internet - and public forums. Let me help you there. If you find a post rude - you don't need to read it...
  15. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

Well - I don't know it for a fact. I have no internal Tesla information - so it's an educated guess. But can you believe they polled affluent car buyers and the response was "we only want yoke, we absolutely don't want steering wheel" ?? If you believe that - I have a bridge to sell you.
  16. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

And how many post-refresh Model S did you buy - to show you strong support and positive opinion of it?? I actually considered buying one - that is until I saw what the post-refresh is, which put an end to that. So I am an actual buyer - that went away; unlike you - so you'll excuse me if I...
  17. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

The only difference between pre/post refresh is that pre-refresh is a normal car, though dated by now. The post refresh is goofy boondoggle shaped as a car on the outside. But keep trying to equate both of them, That's not spin at all...
  18. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

I guess my English is not very good. Or alternatively your reading comprehension isn't. Nobody is talking about Model S before the refresh. I know when you are ideological you always try to misrepresent things to support your argument. So let me put it in a different way. Tesla sold about...
  19. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

And that says it all. You are comparing all sales of redesigned Model S - which are in pretty much entirely the US - to a very small part of the sales of Mercedes S Class (most of which are outside US). Writing 7 pages praising the virtues of Model S before the redesign - and how well the NOT...
  20. S

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

Ah - it's so easy to manipulate statistics to show whatever you want. We will leave aside the fact that your figures are US only - and if you do worldwide the Mercedes S class outsold dramatically Tesla Model S. We will also leave aside the fact that Model S is new release so have some initial...

Did I purchase a car or a very large xbox?

If you got Model 3 - you purchased a car :-) Though the poster talking about Tesla messing up perfectly good UI with updates and making it worse does have a point. Now if you purchased a redesigned Model S - you got some boondogle, be it xbox or whatever. It is obviously a joke. Not talking...

Is there a way to re-order FM stations in the list?

Nice - that actually worked. Thanks!! Basically I can open the list of stations, select one (near the bottom) then uncheck the star/favorite mark. The station disappears from the list. Then I click the star again making it favorite - and boom, it shows up on the top of the list. So equivalent of...

Is there a way to re-order FM stations in the list?

So I usually listen to FM radio in my Model 3, and have a bunch of FM stations marked as favorites. There is a button on the bottom bar that opens a list and I can select a station - very convenient. However the list appears to be in random order and I can't figure a way to re-arrange it. It is...

Every time I get into my new M3 music doesn’t autoplay and it tells me to “Choose Media Source”

This happens to me too (on a regular basis) - and I don't use Spotify or Sentry. I listen to regular FM radio, then leave and lock the car. Get back in the car later - and it's set to streaming with nothing selected, and I have to switch it to radio again. Annoying.

    V11 quick controls toggle?

Thanks - I'll try that. I thought I tried everything I saw on the screen - but must have missed this. If I couldn't find it - not exactly intuitive. :)
  26. S

Comparing my '21 SR+ to my '22 LR AWD

I hadn't used autopilot in a month or two - and definitely it has changed - and not for the better. Used to be a lot smoother (though I still have radar). Basically it is sluggish to respond. So when it approaches traffic from behind and it needs to slow - it slows too late (comes in fast and...
  27. S

    V11 quick controls toggle?

So here we are - months later. The new interface was going to be fixed - but nothing showed up. Still crippled as the day it was released. On top of hiding profiles and heated seats - I found several more daily annoyances. One is the garage opener - which is now no longer always visible. So...

Would you pay more for a used radar M3 versus new vision one?

And that is the reason I cancelled my FSD trial request. Don't want FSD if it will remove my radar. Would I pay more for it? No, I just wouldn't buy a car without radar.
  29. S

    V11 quick controls toggle?

That is obviously a matter of opinion - so everybody can be right, and in the end Tesla decides. However - you live in TX so probably don't use heated seats much. For anybody living in 4 seasons (or colder) - heated seats are something we use all the time. I turn them on when I get in the car...
  30. S

    V11 quick controls toggle?

Heated seats should be on the screen without extra push or swipe - or at least we should have the option to put it there; this one is no brainer. Calendar should never be on the screen itself; like someone said - the whole "recently used" section should just be discarded as a waste of space...
  31. S

    V11 quick controls toggle?

V11 overall is not bad - once you figure where they moved everything that was right where you expect it to be. But some things are boneheaded. You now have to do 2 clicks to get to heated seats - something that people will obviously use all the time (when cold) - but you have "Calendar"...

    Software freeze in reverse

Wasn't a reset issue. I mean it resolved itself without me resetting. The car would operate - I could set it in reverse and it did go in reverse. What I did NOT realize is that the sensors are NOT operating - causing me to bump the car behind me. That was really dangerous - but considering it's...

    Software freeze in reverse

Gotta love your attitude. F the customer. You must be on the Tesla design team.
  34. S

    Software freeze in reverse

Ha - you are right. Just opted out. The button was well hidden - you have to click "Request Self Driving Beta" - again (I thought it's disabled now that I have already requested it) - then on the next screen there is an Opt-out button. Thx for tip.
  35. S

    Software freeze in reverse

So yesterday I had the car software freeze when I put the car in reverse. I was trying to get into a tight parking spot - just needed to drop something in a nearby mailbox. The screen froze and became completely unresponsive. The rear camera was NOT on - and I couldn't turn it on, pushing the...

New Tesla APP 4.x. Released for iOS and Android

That is the funnies post I've seen in a while. This is like your girlfriend telling you "if you don't know I'm mad at you then I'm not going to say anything". Sure I didn't want to sideload the app. But there was no other way to see my score - and it did turn out to be a shocker. So I'd like to...

New Tesla APP 4.x. Released for iOS and Android

Why? (Genuinely want to know. Is PlayStore not going to upgrade the app next time Tesla updates in the PlayStore?? ) I finally broke down and installed the alternative Tesla app for Android yesterday and saw our driving score. I am giving up on Tesla. I've been driving like a granny for 7 days...

New Tesla APP 4.x. Released for iOS and Android

So I get that my Android app will take 2 weeks to have the right version available. But my wife's iPhone still doesn't have it either. I get that other people are getting it - but she checks the AppStore and there is no newer version (she's on 4.0.2). I kind of gave up on that.
  39. S

New Tesla APP 4.x. Released for iOS and Android

I think removing the radar has at least 2 visible effects - limiting your max speed on highways and removing 1 from how close you can be to the car in front of you (now the closest is 2). The autopilot is already ridiculous in how far it drives back from the car in front - I always use 1 and...
  40. S

New Tesla APP 4.x. Released for iOS and Android

Exactly the same here. The FSD is turning to dung bomb. First, after paying thousands years ago we are still not allowed to get it without driving evaluation (don't even get me started on that). Then you cannot see you driving performance because the app version that is supposed to show it is...

    A yoke or a joke?

So true. As long as they don't produce any (or produce tiny quantities) - they will have no problem selling them... ;) Now if they try to sell some real numbers of a ~100K car without steering wheel - they will discover what "efficient market" means.
  42. S

I wish the Model 3 had the new Model S steering wheel

Well the opinions are like the behinds - everybody has one. To me this is the most ridiculous statement. If you want to make sure I never again buy this car - put a yoke in it, sure.
  43. S

    A yoke or a joke?

Tesla will lose 10s of 1000s of orders of Model S if it forces everyone to buy it with a yoke (along with the other "improvements" - the horn being a tiny button and the blinkers too). That's a simple fact. I'm sure it won't stop them from doing it. After all - how long did it take Apple to put...

New S features vs. the competition

That is a point. But then again - it makes the S mostly a souped up 3 rather than different class vehicle. And still no HUD. Just makes my point - if you spend $500K on a Tesla, it will still be missing basic stuff. Ok - I'll stop. Apparently I hit a raw nerve with the converted. Just FYI - I...

New S features vs. the competition

This is what you get for the extra $24K ?? Quiet (quiet glass, noise cancelling, etc - same thing), Model 3 already got quiet in 2020; not much here. "rear display, 17" screen" - cosmetic. "New (ventilated) seats" one if the few actual new features - and this one pretty useless (I have it and...
  46. S

New S features vs. the competition

Well - it's good news about the top cam, at least there is hope. The HUD is not stupid at all. I'm guessing you've never owned a car with a HUD. It is easily one of the most functional features - and an amazing experience. I find the argument that "it doesn't fit Tesla vision for self-driving"...
  47. S

New S features vs. the competition

I own a Model 3 and a 5 series BMW. I am very well aware how fun Teslas are to drive. Yet every time I sit in my Tesla - there are things I'm missing, and I wish I was in the BMW. I can understand that for Model 3 - it's more economy-level car (relatively speaking) so no room for some features...
  48. S

New S features vs. the competition

Sorry - I'm not an S driver and don't come often to this forum so maybe this has already been discussed - but I didn't see it. I'm looking at the new S being released and honestly am not impressed with the comfort features. Did they actually look at Mercedes, BMW, etc. and try to provide...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

That's hilarious. That FAQ contains outright lies. "No. The transition does not affect Model 3 and Model Y crash safety ratings. Vehicles equipped with Tesla Vision retain the same crash safety ratings as vehicles equipped with radar." Maybe one day - but not as of today. This is simply...
