[UK] Would you buy another tesla

You could sacrifice 80% of your wish list and Tesla would still be ruled out. The incredible thing is that the technology items on your list have been around for absolutely ages and yet the company that tries to be known as “a tech company not a car company” doesn’t have them. When I first...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

Interesting article that, cheers. I’m definitely in the best product (for my needs at that time) camp, rather than brand loyal. 8 brands across 12 cars and only Toyota, BMW and Land Rover managed repeat purchases. Those three would probably still be my go to if they had the product - for...
  3. MashinBenzin

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

Nope. I bought the car knowing about some major flaws and not expecting them to change. With familiarity, some things (material quality) are better than expected, some things (tech) are worse. Which is normal with any car to have a gradual change in views with experience. Especially one that’s...

Many people contrast OTA with competitors, hence the comparison with what features competitors offer. Quicker car and faster charging both sound great! When were they added and how much difference? I guess you have a model 3?

Thanks for the clear and genuine reply. That’s how it appeared to me.

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

The poster above in listing benefits of OTA. And it’s been mentioned many times on this forum. I love how we are pulling apart that sentence rather than just admitting it’s a bit crap that it had to be added years into the model’s lifecycle. Now, please tell me what’s so good that’s been...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

PS. This is an amazing piece of spin, congratulations. People have to accept that that other cars come with more functions, and better-functioning ones. And they have to live with those better functions and features with no expectation of change. I’m not particularly expecting Tesla to fix...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

I’m not missing that point, I understand it. What the discussion centred around is what has actually been added recently that is either of any value or should not have been present from day one. Catching up or closing the gap to other manufacturers is ok, but it’s even better to have those...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

I do enjoy the fan speed low/medium/high being admired as an example of Tesla innovation. Our 2013 Auris has that. As have the four other new cars I’ve owned between buying that and the Model Y. Sure, it’s good that that this incredibly basic feature exists now, but it’s a joke that it’s taken...

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Was the chap a few pages back offering up an identical car at an identical time in identical circumstances? I’m not even sure it was an M3P, never mind mileage and condition (but happy to be corrected). Nobody loved it, people pointed out why that valuation might have occurred and other...

He’s a complete troll. Starts an argument every time and then throws insults around when anyone quotes facts at him.
  12. MashinBenzin

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

You’re trolling again. The guy posted quite reasonably that he ordered in April 2022. I suspect you’ve been here long enough and regularly enough to note that the USS removal was observed here considerably later. No need to question why he ordered a new model to replace the old one he was...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

Wait a second. I might have spent this morning driving eastbound along the M4, feeling a bit of a loser in front of my passenger as the car dry wiped the windscreen everytime I used the washers (hey, it was sunny, who could code software for that?!), or feeling I had to apologise after...
  14. MashinBenzin

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

What Tesla did in those ‘early’ days, people waking up to increased range etc. , was clever and has bought them an awful lot of good PR of the ‘the car improves over time’ nature. I remain to be convinced that anything of significance is being added these days. I’m not giving huge credit for...

U Does this mean Tesla are behind the times again?

You know what? That’s crossed my mind several times recently.
  17. MashinBenzin

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

Yes, I think the Cybertruck is a misstep. As you say, it’s effectively US-only. The F150/Silverado/Ram pie that they’ve aimed it as is undoubtedly a huge one. But is it the right product? I’m not a potential buyer, but I wouldn’t entertain one if I wanted that kind of vehicle, and I doubt that a...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

I’m the same with Mercedes, they just don’t chime with me. The Chinese stuff generally looks great for the money. Genuinely a better product and cheaper. I’m purely put off by the macro political situation with China and conscious of supporting with a big ticket purchase. (And aware that I’ve...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

It’s interesting, and I’m not knocking you for having that view as many would say the same. But for the quality and content of the product, I found the Tesla price harder to swallow than any of Kia/Hyundai/Skoda. In particular I felt that the EV6 and Enyaq felt more commensurate with their price...
  20. MashinBenzin

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

I can’t see it, the competition is getting stronger all the time and there is little sign of Tesla bringing out a compelling new model. Overall I would rather have a more interesting, better quality, better equipped vehicle that’s more comfortable. The Model Y is fine as a basic EV transport...
  21. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Agreed. It’s an indication that the demand is beneath the supply. If they take this car they want it cheap to protect their risk. Could be that they have a limit either in numbers or (more likely?) in pounds of how many of each car they will carry. Or their storage is becoming limited (incurring...
  22. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Exactly. Tesla’s bid indicates how much they want the Model 3 in question, it doesn’t mean somebody else won’t bid higher. It’s one isolated data point.
  23. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

What high horse? Jeez, I just gave some info including alternatives. Tesla are not the only horse in town for trade prices for Teslas. A Golf R is neither here nor there and the value of a Golf R is going to have zero influence on what Tesla wish to bid for a Model 3.
  24. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

It’s not a joke, it’s a reflection of how much Tesla want a four year old Model 3 on their books, nothing more. They probably have rather a lot after all the trade-ins for Model Ys. If not happy with the price offered, try elsewhere. An auction on carwow or Motorway will give a very clear idea...

Snow with the Model Y RWD

My layman’s theory is that the bigger efficiency impact will be in summer when range is good anyway, so a hit can be absorbed. On a freezing wet winter’s day when the range is down to 200 miles anyway, I suspect the increased rolling resistance will barely figure. Just a guess.

    New salary sacrifice prices

Yep, true of every PCP I’ve done. For info, the GFV now (against a list of £53k) is higher by £2k than my March 2022 order (when the list was £55k). So Tesla have seemingly more confidence in residual values.

Snow with the Model Y RWD

I had the Scorpion Zero All Seasons (21s) on my two Disco 5s, they are good. I’m going to switch my MY to them (or other AS tyres) before next winter. Hopefully will have got 50% life or more out of the current summer tyres by then.
  28. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

I’ve not read every recent post, so apologies if this is already covered. WBAC’s price is what many of us use as a rough barometer for value, but it is only reflective of how much they want your model of car on the forecourt and that changes fast as they buy and sell stock. My MY jumped £6k...

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

I had that engine in a rwd 440i, it was (and is) a gem. Had a memorable traffic light GP with a M140i on a curving road and the lack of traction/sudden break of traction in the 1-er was very noticeable, not surprised they met trees! Other than that, I imagine they handled a whole lot better than...

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Read this after my last post, so apologies for not being clear enough. It wasn’t financial advice, rather an illustrative example in the context of the discussion that JS1977 raised. I’ve happened to cover everyone different in the next post. I haven’t mentioned anywhere that everything I am...

You’re the one not listening 😊 what you’ve done is reduced your pot of money. Your act of goodwill was to give Tesla your hard earned cash and give up your investment opportunities and income and the opportunity to give your children more. Now, if your answer was that investing is not within...

It’s simple maths, not man maths. Pay 5% APR on £50k for 4 years on PCP with £18k balloon. Pay £6973 in interest. Earn 8% on £50k for 4 years. Earn £16k. Have £66k. Pay balloon, have car plus £48k in savings. Spend £811 pm on PCP payments or use it to refill savings. Savings end up at...

Your money is deflating. Whilst you’re making 4%, the things it will buy have gone up 10%. You’re taking a risk.

Saving paying 4.9% or 6.9% to avoid making 8% or 12% is wasting money. HTH.

Dilemma - stick or twist re vehicle choice

It did make a fair old difference. Here are the three legs from Heathrow. Heathrow to Reading services, variable speed limits 291 wh/m Reading services to Membury, normal driving 410 wh/m Membury to home, first lane cruising behind a HGV 253 wh/m What’s stark is that the average speeds for...

Dilemma - stick or twist re vehicle choice

I had the same experience of bristol to Heathrow and return on a wet and windy December day. 93% consumed for 198 miles and that with nursing it at 54mph for the last 40 from Membury (superchargers full, tired and emotional daughter so didn’t wait). Stick though. Your model Y is probably worth...

Model Y standard range for UK - will it happen

You called it well, I gotta say! I reckon they will sell them pretty well at those prices, and a good aggressive move. They’ve clearly realised they need to sell hard to shift the significant extra production capacity for this year. If (big if) it doesn’t work then they are in a spot of...

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

The infotainment encompasses many things. Netflix is good, if you need it. The mapping options are limited. The sound system is pretty average. The UI is objectively poor. The HUD doesn’t exist. The drivers display doesn’t exist. Other brands do this stuff better. 3 inch screen? Now if I...

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Agreed, I’ve posted on many threads about the EV drivetrain being a very strong point. But we are talking about ‘paying for the tech’ and I’d warrant that the drivetrain tech is a similar cost in a Tesla or it’s competitors- with Tesla having a volume and integration advantage possibly meaning...
  43. MashinBenzin

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

No, I think it’s fine, as I’ve written in many places here, even further up this thread I mentioned a positive surprise about the car. I’m just not dewy eyed over it so where it has weak points I will call them out. I’m hardly going to praise autopilot when it’s worse than the same functions...
  44. MashinBenzin

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

The same, although only 30 miles of M4 in each direction for me. I’ve caught myself once or twice staying in lane for longer to pass another vehicle rather than going through the jerk bong process two extra times. “It’s the tech you’re paying for” 🤣🤣🤣
  45. MashinBenzin

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Absolutely. I used to use ACC constantly in stop start traffic in my Land Rover. The Tesla version is a jerky joke. Such as easy thing to get right, so badly implemented.
  46. MashinBenzin

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Even better. £3.4k for something that doesn’t work 😂
  47. MashinBenzin

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

EAP for £3.4k is a joke. L2 on my Disco was part of the Driver Assist pack that also added 360 cameras, a system to alert you of approaching vehicles when in reverse and a system that warned passengers if a cyclist or car was coming if they were about to open a door. It cost £950. Tesla want...

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

What are you comparing autopilot with? Sounds like you’ve had Teslas a while. ETA. Just seen the next reply saying you’re from the US. In that case our experiences are probably not comparable. UK urban/extra-urban traffic is VERY different to the North American version. Similarly our Motorways...
  49. MashinBenzin

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

Going with the OP’s line, I pretty much agree. The things I expected to be better on the Tesla - autopilot aka ACC/lane keep, the touchscreen, the non-drivetrain tech in general - are largely worse. The thing I expected to be poor/irritate me - interior quality, long journey comfort (noise...
