Kwik Trip is an oddball. Their "Electric vehicle charging stations" that are just a 120v outlet on a lamp post are all too common and seem like some sort of bad joke. My guess is there are some weird personal anti-EV sentiments that they hold. Just speculating though.
My suspicion, as I think some others have alluded to, is that the Voting Map is less about letting the public actually pick new locations, and more about gauging interest for locations that are already in early talks, to help fast-track or convince the host to help remove hurdles in the...
Thread already exists, but unfortunately it's just meant to be the St. Peter charger.
That being said, I would be surprised if Mankato didn't get one in the next two years.
I check it on the map and it's frequently close to full during peak hours. I'm guessing they're also planning for a lot more growth on the west side of the cities. My impression is also that it is far cheaper to expand an existing site than build new ones.
It's not a zero-sum game guys. Adding a Supercharger north of the Twin Cities doesn't reduce the possibility of one being added on the complete opposite side.
The Midwest definitely needs some more love. There's been a lot of improvement in the last two years, and it feels like the pace has been picking up with new installs. I'm not aware of any suggestion box, so all we can do is hope and wait. I would imagine Tesla will do their quarterly update of...
Pretty sure you can request to leave the beta. According to Reddit, you just have to email [email protected] to opt out. I wouldn't want vision-only AP, so I get where you're coming from.
You make several good points. I've started to become rather curious how Tesla makes Supercharger location decisions. I'm sure it is largely based on telemetry - and based on my own (anecdotal) evidence, it's clear there are quite a few Tesla's using the 169 corridor these days. The St. Peter...
Swung by today and spotted a Tesla tech working on the site. He had the backs off of several of the pedestals. Didn’t stop to talk to him, but I assume this location should be live very shortly.
Possible, but the Mankato pin is still active and slated for next year. Extra Superchargers (no warning from the Find Us map) have been known to pop up, especially with known partnerships like Hy-Vee.
Mankato itself is becoming a growing market for Teslas, so I would be surprised if it doesn't...
Their 72kW chargers would be ideal if they could be built more quickly and in more places. They seem pretty focused on V3s though.
What really irritates me is the availability of Chademo and CCS stations (albeit a lot are 50kW, not exactly fast, but theoretically useful in a pinch), and yet the...
