    LR vs Plaid differences

I’ve seen MXS do 2.3 in real world testing. Not sure how a much heavier X would be getting the exact same numbers. Regardless my main point was that the numbers are even more skewed for the LR. The real world difference between the Plaid and LR is 1 sec 0-60.

Family of 5: 6 Seats or 7 Seats

Both 5 and 7 seater fold completely flat. You’re right that the 5 seater has a sub-floor compartment where that third row folds into but in my opinion it’s not super useful. Maybe can put some blankets or some less used items in there. The point I was making is if you only put someone in the...

    LR vs Plaid differences

Above 30mph, the MXLR will definitely beat the M3P. 1/4 mile times the MXLR is low [email protected] Compare that with the M3P high [email protected] Yes I agree that when you choose 6 seat it comes down to only a few thousand more for the Plaid. Why not? Just know the 6 seat does not fold flat. The 5/7...

    LR vs Plaid differences

I think with the latest air suspension on the softest setting the 22s ride well enough but yeah if you have a bunch of potholes then the 20s would be better. My MXLR came with Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season 285/35 R22 (rear) and 265/35 R22 (front). If you have the Plaid S, the MXLR would be...

I was lucky enough to get the All Seasons in the 22” upgraded wheels on the LR. They look nice!

    LR vs Plaid differences

I have also seen people posting their MXP is getting 0-60 in 2.8 sec range which is more real world without rollout subtracted. Without launch mode I have seen 0-60 in 3.0sec. This to me is most realistic. Unless you are at a drag strip, no one has time to set up launch mode at a light. MX...

Family of 5: 6 Seats or 7 Seats

I agree. They could make both the 6 seater and 7 seater nicer. 6 seater could be made with built in arm rests + fold flat like it is in most SUVs. 7 seater could be made more comfortable with the pull out arm rest. Last but not least, Plaid should be offered with all seat configurations. I had...

Family of 5: 6 Seats or 7 Seats

It comes down to if you think you will need to have passengers in the 3rd row very often v. being able to fold flat. If you have 3 or more kids the 6 seater makes sense as you will use that 3rd row all the time. If you have 1 or 2 kids then I think the 7 seater probably makes more sense. Not...

Family of 5: 6 Seats or 7 Seats

I’m not so sure how the fold down version of the 7 seater lost leg room everywhere. People act like you feet can’t go under the seats of the non-pedestal but they absolutely can. The bigger problem is do your knees hit the seats which can’t be any different. 7 seater is great for occasional...

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

I know - such a tragedy that the LR can match a Lamborghini Uris EVEN with 0-30mph software limited 😜 The LR is really fast. I have almost rear-ended someone on the highway trying to pass them. The car launched forward faster than I anticipated shifting into the left lane. Honestly I dont see...

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

SUVs need fold flat seats....I mean it's a utility/family vehicle. I didnt buy an SUV to haul 6 people around and very little cargo. Until they offer Plaid in 5/7 seat configuration, the 6 seater is a no go for me. I have 2 dog crates that I need to put in there and no way I can do this with the...

Model X LR vs. Model S LR vs. BMW iX

We have the Model X LR 7 seater and it's awesome! I dont think you will be able to tell the difference in acceleration between the S and the X. Both are actually faster than the Model 3 performance at higher speeds. One thing to note is the 6 seater middle row does not fold down flat. I'm not...
  13. K

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

Absolutely. Shall we remind people that the LR is as fast/faster than the Lamborghini Uris and is faster than the 700hp Jeep TrackHawk. LR wil take on any ICE suv. Oh and the LR is faster than all Model 3s and all Model Ys as it should. It has a better power to weight ratio than all of them...

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

It’s because we look at things from a traditional engine mindset. The extra rear motor of the Plaid costs $6k more than LR motor. But….Tesla charged $30k more at launch so u tell me which is the better deal 😉 Now if Tesla actually upgraded all parts of the car like AMG does then I would agree...

Ha I guess it’s about which way you look at it. 👍

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

I personally wouldn’t be wearing a Tesla Plaid T Shirt even if I had one 😜. There is a guy down the street from me who owns Lambos, Porsches. I never see him wearing Lambo or Porsche shirts 😉 The Plaid still doesn’t have the recognition/image of a Lambo 😉
  17. K

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

Agree with you as long as you don’t feel like you are compromising on functionality. For me I couldn’t do non-fold down seats in the 2nd row. Also needed a bench seat for my 2 dogs. That’s too much of a compromise to lose that and pay an extra $20k for more speed.
  18. K

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

It’s a 34% increase in power, not 50%. This translates into 26% better acceleration on the Plaid. (0-60 Plaid with rollout is 2.8sec v 3.8sec for LR) We’ve discussed this before. Other manufacturers do a complete car overhaul. Every part is upgraded (interior, exterior, suspension, wheels...

CF looks like cheap plastic to me. Wood all the way!

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

I would only get the Plaid if you really are a speed freak or just want the emotional satisfaction of knowing you have the fastest. In reality the Long Range is very fast and no one "needs" the Plaid. Judging from your signature, the Long Range X will already be significantly faster than both...

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

There really isn’t. Battery is exactly the same. No structural re-inforcements. Wheels/tires are the same. Interior/Seats are the same. Body is the same. Same features and options. All that being said I would have bought the Plaid if the seat options were available. Mostly an emotional thing...

Should I get rid of my LR for a Plaid?

I actually could afford the Plaid. It came down to 6 seat v 5/7 seat usability. I don’t need a people hauler as I don’t have kids. Mostly it’s me and my wife and our 2 dogs. I want the ability to fold all the seats flat for things. I also need a bench seat for my 2 dogs. That is primarily why I...

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

Man I wish I would have gotten it for $90k base as well. By the time I got it wasn’t too far from the Plaid. It bothered me I paid so much. But getting over that slowly. It’s basically the same car except the extra motor. But it’s pretty nice to know you have the fastest suv on the planet. 😉...

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

Sorry I hope I didn't come off as being offensive. I think it's awesome you have the Plaid. I wanted the Plaid and still a little jealous....but after some time the versatility of the 7 seater and very good performance on the LR, I am feeling less jealous now :) Anyways congrats on the Plaid...

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

Thats good for the feet. What about the knees? And the feet can go under the 7 seater as well. Not exactly posts but more like they are on skis/stilts ;)

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

Interesting. What I don’t get is how can the 6 seater give you more leg room in the 2nd and 3rd row? The only way this is possible is if the seat is physically smaller/shallower. In any case I’m not much concerned about the 3rd row. It’s only there for a let’s go to a restaurant and I have some...
  27. K

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

In this older version of the 7 seater, does the 2nd row middle seat not move forward and back? The newer versions of the 2nd row are not powered anymore but the entire "bench" can move forward and back...it's technically a 60/40 split seat so you have to move both sides forward or back. There...
  28. K

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

I believe for the Model X the starting price was $89,990. They had raised the refresh price $10k from the previous version. That makes the total cost about $31k higher. Still very significant. Also material and supply costs DID go up in the past year. We have no idea how much more something...

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

I won't put my dogs on the floor. I have 2 dogs. Its not safe for the dog(s), or the front passenger and driver. One accident and that dog is flying through the windshield and taking out anything it it's way. I really would have considered the 2 captain chairs if they only folded flat. I mean...

Good to know. What I’m describing is not under acceleration. Just going constant speed at 75 and I feel it. I’ll get the wheels balanced.

  33. K

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

Honestly the LR is quite fast. I haven’t even put the pedal to the floor in insane mode and it already feels fast enough to be uncomfortable. The LR is a little deceiving because on paper 0-60 3.8 doesn’t sound mind blowing. But it’s being limited 0-30. I’m certain they can make it do 2.9-3.0...

2016 X price and acceleration vs 2022 LR

Actually the refresh Long Range is faster than the Raven Performance at > 40 mph ;) 0-30 the Raven Performance is faster. Plaid of course is on another level.
  35. K

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

I dont like the captain chairs so I had to go for the LR. Otherwise would have gotten Plaid. There are so many reasons the captain chairs make the SUV much less versatile, especially if you have dogs or need to fold the seats down. The only reason to get captain chairs is if you need access to...
  36. K

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

If you have the Plaid then you paid for the performance. No one has anything in the same league as the Plaid when it comes to SUVs. The Mercedes has 1/2 the power of the Plaid. The MX LR was a reasonable deal but that too has gone up like $20k+. Seems like too many still want Tesla and demand...

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

The X is definitely the more luxury ride, probably somewhere between a Lexus RX/GX. I'm loving our X LR that is about 2 months old. The enhanced autopilot is really nice and definitely next level compared to anything I've ever driven. We're in the process of getting the Full Self Drive so I...

Can a normal tire shop work on Teslas just fine? Would you recommend Tesla service or a reputable tire shop?
  39. K

Vibration in Yolk at 70+ mph

I have a brand new 2022 Model X LR with 22" wheels. I noticed today that when driving on the highway I feel some vibration in the yolk at around 70+ mph. Would this be a tire balance issue or a wheel alignment issue? Which one should I try doing first? Any chance that Tesla will cover...

Family of 5: 6 Seats or 7 Seats

What about long trips? I would think with a bench seat in middle row you dont need to use the 3rd row. This allows the cargo space to still be quite large and enough to carry all 5 peoples luggage. Yeah around town where you aren't carrying much, the 6 seater would be nice if you have 3 kids.
  41. K

refreshed model X dual motor long range competitions for >100K budget?

Agree. Add CarPlay also! The Bluetooth is just old tech. Most of us have our contacts on our phone. Yeah it syncs but not nicely. If you have multiple addresses for a person it only sees one. Plus the voice recognition on my phone is just better. I also have Apple Music subscription. They...

    6 seater into 7 seater

I could buy the streamlining idea but they didn’t think it through very well. They could have just offered 6 seater deliveries early and then rolled the other ones later on. If people felt like waiting they could wait. If they felt like getting it quick they could get the 6 seater. Imagine how...

Biggest tv that can fit in 7 seater x w seats down

Hopefully you have a 5/7 seater for complete fold flat. The 6 seater will be useless.
  44. K

    6 seater into 7 seater

This is just a personal theory of mine and I may be completely wrong here. After looking at how the bench seat is mounted the center of the seat has a large mount that slides forward and back. Looking at the pictures of the Plaid rear motor setup, I believe there is some interference between...

    6 seater into 7 seater

I'm in the same boat as you. We got our 7 seater LR because I just couldn't do the 6 seater. I wanted the Plaid. I don't get the fascination with 6 seater. It seems like a waste on a large vehicle like this. Think of these scenarios: 7 Seater advantages over the 6 Seater: Go on a road trip...

7-Seater second row fold-up seat is stuck

Its kinda weird. If you use the button near the shoulder of the seat, it will fold and slide forward....BUT only if you do it quickly/right away. If you even wait about 4-5 seconds it will not slide forward anymore and instead just fold flat. If you do it right you dont need to use the hand...

Likelihood of Performance Software Updates for LR?

Tesla can make the LR match the top model Taycan Turbo S if they wanted. It’s 500lbs lighter than the Porsche. Plus they are holding back the 0-30
  48. K

Likelihood of Performance Software Updates for LR?

Agree. I made comparison to the Taycan to show that the LR is being held back. On specs, the LR has the same power to weight ratio as the top model Taycan Turbo S. Yet the LR is .5 sec behind the the Turbo S....and in reality probably .6/.7 sec behind in 0-60. They put on a software limiter on...
  49. K

Likelihood of Performance Software Updates for LR?

One could make that argument now. The LR is nearly 700hp 😉 It’s because there is still a difference between 0-60 of 2.1 v 0-60 2.7. Of course the 1/4 is really crazy on the Plaid too. It’s for people to have the feeling of driving the fastest car in the world. Some people need to have the...

Likelihood of Performance Software Updates for LR?

For the Model X, the LR 6 seater is only $10k less than the Plaid 6 seater! I would say $5k is reasonable to take off .5 sec 0-60. The Plaid is only offered in 6 seater configuration whereas the LR is offered in 5, 6, or 7 seat configurations. I could have gotten the X Plaid but just could not...
