    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

Disagree on this point. With the yoke you are limited as to where you can hold it. So unless you ram into something without making any attempt to avoid it there is a good chance you are turning the yoke, with your arm over the airbag. With a round wheel you can easily maneuver your hands out of...

Model S 19 inch Snow chain come off?

Have you considered autosocks? Autosock Tire Sock Review I purchased some, but haven't used them yet. Wondering why folks would go for chains considering all the problems?

Tesla promoting self-driving video was staged

I leased my first Tesla in May 2018. The salesman tried very hard to convince me to add FSD to a 3 year lease, telling me it would be fully functional by the end of the year, since it just needed final testing and regulatory approval, and then the price for FSD would sky rocket. So even the...

Tesla promoting self-driving video was staged

Actually the hardware was not capable either. I had to pay $1000 to upgrade the hardware in my 2018 so that I could subscribe to FSD. So basically nothing was capable in 2016.

    FSD Beta 10.69

As noted before in this thread. It is possible the GPS was incorrect, which would make the car think it was on a side street. Not only would it then switch to FSD, but it would also explain the odd behavior of changing lanes quickly (after just 1 or 2 blinks) and drastically slowing down, as...

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

Agree, which is also why I don't think we will see stats for this. NHTSA is more interested in high speed accidents than fender benders, especially in parking lots.

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

I also dislike the yoke. However I dislike the lack of stalks and no center horn more. Unfortunately the $700 does not fix those issues. IMHO they should provide the wheel upgrade for free, since it is fixing a design defect (for me at least).

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

For me definitely is more like 50% of the time, since I don't always inevitably hit the horn button. Wipers yes, horn, not so much.

    SF Bay Accident Surveillance Footage

FWIW - Today when using FSD I counted the number of blinks before my car started changing lanes. The shortest was 1 blink and then started changing during the 2nd blink. Often times it completed the entire lane change in less than 6 blinks. In fact most times it started moving before the 3rd...

    SF Bay Accident Surveillance Footage

See my thread here: FSD + GPS (in)accuracy = fail I have this issue all the time due to GPS not working well. Especially when it is raining. Was it raining that day? Basically when my car thinks it is on a different road it tries to get back to the path I am navigating, which means it breaks...

So, if the Yoke material peels can you get a new round wheel for free? Asking for a friend

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

Personally I prefer a round wheel like my 2018. The problem with the 2022 is the yoke does not slip nicely under your fingers, including the bottom part, especially when FSD is turning a corner. I generally need to completely let go of the yoke on turns, which is not the safest and I only do it...

    FSD Beta 10.69

I have the same issue turning into our street. This is one of the reasons I don't believe zero intervention FSD will ever be achieved with current camera setup. I pretty much have to intervene every time there are oncoming cars, which I can only see because I tilt my head against the left...

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

Note, there is no special feature to detect you mashing the right side. It's just a matter of accidently pressing the horn button when you mash. So it is hit and miss. i.e. you miss the button and something will hit your car.

  23. Mark II

Further discussion and analysis on why the yoke is not good

Will concede on this point. Disagree. Unless you crash straight into someone without trying to avoid the accident. In reality you may be trying to turn to avoid it, or going round a bend at the time of the accident, in which case your point is not valid, in fact it is worse. With a wheel you...

Refresh Model S/X yoke controls owners survey

After +7 months I am still not used to it, especially the turn signals and horn. Muscle memory does not work for turn signals because, as you say, they keep moving. Muscle memory might work for people that hit the horn all the time, however in my case I have only hit it a few times in the last...

Full Self Sliding Tesla crashes into police car!

Now I am thinking FSS was an undocumented feature released as part of the Holiday Update?
  26. Mark II

Full Self Sliding Tesla crashes into police car!

Just speculating, I could be a pre Raven AWD, which means the motors turn freely at low speed, i.e. regen does not stop the car, unlike later models where you have regen all the way to stop. Tesla is upgrading Model S/X with new, more efficient electric motors

Major issues after holiday update (2022.44.25.5) in 2022 Model S Plaid

Doh! I missed that. Well I hope it does not happen to my car, MSLR 2022. I got the update, however I have not driven it yet. I don't have winter tires and the roads have a 1 inch layer of ice on them :-(. Next week we should be back to normal rainy Seattle :)

Major issues after holiday update (2022.44.25.5) in 2022 Model S Plaid

Did you reboot the car? I usually always reboot after and update. Sometimes I forget and the car does weird things. A reboot normally fixes them.

    2022.44.25

No idea, I am still stuck on an older FSDb build. Hopefully we get a FSDb + holiday update next week (2022.44.25.5?). Note, other updates typically take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for me.
  33. Mark II

    2022.44.25

I suspect 2022.44.30 is the same as 2022.44.25 with the specifics of the factory builds for 2022.40.x00 integrated into main. I.e. so far it looks like all the cars upgrading are coming from factory builds.

    FSD Beta 10.69

Yip, typical in the rain. This is why I don't believe all the Tesla Vision hype. Elon obviously never drives in the rain ... In the past it would just tell you FSD is not available to revert to TACC. It basically did this every time the wipers went fast. Which is scary, since the steering would...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

The backup camera in our 2016 Sonata hardly ever got covered in rain water, whereas the Model S camera gets covered in a few minutes. I suspect the aerodynamics of the Sonata prevented water build up, or blew it off. So it is possible to reduce the impact.

Picking up 22 long range Sunday!!

My 2018 I have set at 80% and the 2022 at 90%. I believe those are the recommendations for both, i.e. the last "daily" option in each case. For the most part I just leave both at their recommended setting and don't even think about it, even before a road trip. In the past I used to charge to...

Picking up 22 long range Sunday!!

As you will see from my post above I had a number of different issues that got resolved on the first *car* software update. When you receive a new car it will be on a factory build. I.e. yours is likely 2022.40.300.1, or something like that. Basically the third number is 100 or more. Your car...

Picking up 22 long range Sunday!!

The trick is to only charge to about 80% on road trips. Charging from ~20% to 80% takes about 15 minutes. Charging from 80% to 100% takes another 30 minutes! So basically every 200 miles stop, charge, rest room, coffee, and then back on the road!

There are a number of delivery checklists, search the forums. Anyone else have issues with their 2021 refresh Model S?

This issue reminds me of the issue I had with the rear right door opening by itself. The SC "inspected" it and could not repro or find an issue (when they were addressing the other 8 issues I found after delivery). The next week mobile tech came out to fix some of the stuff they did not complete...

Refresh Model S/X yoke controls owners survey

FWIW - I do prefer the yoke for freeway driving. I find holding it with just my right hand provides enough torque to keep AP nag happy. With the round wheel I found the best was both hands at the bottom, even then I still had to jiggle it at times when the road was very straight. With the yoke I...

Refresh Model S/X yoke controls owners survey

Most the time I do want AP, however there are times (known locations) I just know it going to mess up, since it always does. I would then like to switch to TACC. Once you change the setting to single tap you will suddenly become more aware of the times you actually rely on TACC remaining on...

Refresh Model S/X yoke controls owners survey

Put it this way. FSD is a party trick right now, and will be for the foreseeable future at the rate things are improving. If I have to keep my hands on the wheel and watch the road all the time, I may as well be driving. Until FSD is able to drive me from point A to point B while I do something...

Refresh Model S/X yoke controls owners survey

Sorry, I think we crossed paths somewhere. Here is what I experience: - Set single tap for AP/NOA - It disengages TACC when I move the yoke. - Set double tap for AP/NOA - TACC remains engaged when I move the yoke. I currently have it set at single tap, because double tap is just a pain. Now I...

FWIW - I never liked BMWs. There are many other EV options out there these days, and there will be a lot more in ~2 years when my MSLR lease expires with much improved autonomous features. Personally I am partial to Hyundai, mainly because my wife had a 2016 Sonata before taking over my 2018...

Refresh Model S/X yoke controls owners survey

Unfortunately not. Which is another reason I hate the yoke + buttons nonsense. I don't have this issue with the 2018 since it is very easy to use the stalk to single our double pull. For some reason I always seem to get it wrong trying to double tap the wheel on the yoke.
