    Charge %age level

Is my memory faulty? I seem to remember being able to set the target charge level to under 50%, until today. Seems like the app now only allows 50%+.

Is slow charging with 110 v outlet bad for your battery?

I had a simple question on the charge rate of a 110v charger and didn’t think it fit into that thread.

Is slow charging with 110 v outlet bad for your battery?

Thanks. 16amps max for 110v. So I’ve been using my Tesla wall charger even slower than a 110v plug, charging at the slowest 5a charge rate. I’ll speed it up to 15; don’t want the car’s systems on forever as I trickle charge it daily.

Is slow charging with 110 v outlet bad for your battery?

Basic question: how many amps does a 110v Tesla plug charge at? (15? 20?) Just curious as I have a Tesla wall charger where I can vary the charge rate from 5-48 amps.

Bestest Idealest Battery charging percentage band

I've never used a public charger before. Is there a way to slow down a public charger to avoid degradation of the battery? (I would only do this when there are a lot of empty spots and only to 70% or so. )

Model Y DIY Xpel Ultimate PPF

I second this response. Having had the PPF on top of the sensors (both front and rear bumpers), the sensors are still functioning perfectly and measuring distance accurately. 1000 miles so far.

Bestest Idealest Battery charging percentage band

Great detailed answer. Thanks. This corresponds with all the lithium-ion battery websites on the web that recommend a resting state of charge between 40-60 percent. (some say 40-50 is best, others 50-60). As AAKEE said, the lower the state of charge when not in use, the better (so long as...

    Curious about Battery Fire Risk

My wife just recently read one of these articles about Tesla fires and started freaking out about it, To the point where she’s basically asking me to sell my new Y. I got super pissed and started ranting about all the same arguments a lot of the users here are as well. But then I came on here...

    Mounting E-Toll devices in frunk

Someone on another thread put it on the “neck” of where the screen is connected to the dash. Said it worked well while another person said it didn’t. Any experience? This would be the perfect place for me. No ugly transponder blocking sight lines AND no ugly reflection.
  10. M

    Mounting E-Toll devices in frunk

Here in California, they sell special Fastpass transponders with toggles for the number of passengers that give you discounts for using the carpool lane. Without it, they’ll do the license plate scan and charge you full price.

Bestest Idealest Battery charging percentage band

Thanks for the insight. I’m thinking along the same lines. I’ve learned so much about battery optimization since getting my EV. I find myself unplugging my Ebike at 70%

Where to mount an E-ZPass in a Model Y

Was thinking of placing it right at the front of the sunroof behind the hazard light switch. Anyone think this wouldn’t work? I hardly ever look out the sunroof. As cool as it is, I’ve forgotten it’s even there many times.

Where to mount an E-ZPass in a Model Y

That would be the perfect hidden spot if it works every time. Any missed readings?

Bestest Idealest Battery charging percentage band

No history yet for my 3 month old 1,000 mile Tesla but my Radrunner ebike has lost about 15% of capacity in 12 months use. Charged to 100% each time from 30% maybe 26x. That kinda sucks.

    End cap/cover for charger?

I also wanted an end cap to my wall charger to protect it from duet. Looking at the ends, it’s got a lot of dust from my drywall renovation project. This cannot be good for the contacts. Plenty of people with comments about it being completely waterproof and dust proof. At the same time...

Bestest Idealest Battery charging percentage band

Thank you! The one answer I needed and one of the few posters who actually helped instead of making a joke of it. You, sir are awesome. I need a CSFTN response for every question in my life. Direct, to the point, filtered through 208 pages of debate from the other thread.

    Time to DIY PPF!!

Is dust and dirt under some PPF edges typical? I find it in places where it was impossible to tuck in. How do you clean it out without making the PPF peel off worse?
  18. M

Bestest Idealest Battery charging percentage band

I had no idea about the even amps. Why would Tesla even allow for odd amps then? I'm going to assume 59% is sarcasm.

    Time to DIY PPF!!

Kitcutz.com A full Xpel precut kit cost me $1300. I would not recommend doing it yourself though. Some more skilled folks managed to do it here but I ruined two pieces and gave up. Hired someone off Craigslist to come do it for me. It took him two days and he did an ok job. $3400 total...

    Time to DIY PPF!!

XPEL worked great for me. 8mm thick. Seems that the better brands are around 8mm. I owe this forum a full review on my Xpel journey. Just been really busy lately.

Bestest Idealest Battery charging percentage band

I know this has been discussed as nauseum but the general consensus is to keep the charge between 20-80% for lithium-ion. My question is: can someone narrow that down to an even narrower band? In a perfectly ideal scenario, where should I keep the charge state? My Y has 400 miles on it and...

Tesmanian Model Y spoiler matte black

Awesome. Thanks for the photo. Did you ever consider getting the solid black spoiler? It would have matched your car perfectly. Tesla’s official name for black is solid black so I assume the Tesmanian spoiler would be color matched.
  23. M

Tesmanian Model Y spoiler matte black

Solid black or Matte black? What color is your Y?
  24. M

Tesmanian Model Y spoiler matte black

There’s a Black Friday sale on this spoiler. Comes to about $56 before tax. I’m trying to decide between solid black and matte black. Any opinions? I have the matte black induction wheels. So matte black may match that better. On the other hand, solid black may match the rear window better...

    Turning radius

True that - but is it worse than the average car of the same size and wheelbase?

Where are exhaust vents for cabin air?

Geez, they took off the entire bumper and other parts just to install PPF? That’s overkill.
  27. M

    Turning radius

Is it me or does the Y have a bad turning radius? I discovered this the hard way when making a permitted u-turn at a red light. To my surprise, I had to make a 3-point turn onto a two laner. Thankfully no one behind me or I’d be stuck in that position until he backs up too. Tesla says it’s...

    Tesla emblems

I tried plasti dip and it was a nightmare. Every coating would result in half the emblem perfect and the other half with mini pimples all over (where the air bubbles in the dip burst and left a mini crater). It's unusable. Followed the instructions to the tee. Also watched youtube videos of...

Where are exhaust vents for cabin air?

I don’t know how you got this pic, but one of the things I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving is this forum and the knowledge you all share so willingly.

Where are exhaust vents for cabin air?

Great to know, thanks. But then I wonder why almost all cars these days crack the window a bit when you close the doors. My only guess is that even with these hidden flaps, the instant increased pressure of a closing door causes some discomfort to your ear drums from the slightly increased...

    Model Y 7-Seat - 2nd Row Custom Covers - Amazing!

These are pretty ugly. Probably the best you can get as far as seat covers. But woof. As much as I wanna protect my white seats, the reason I got those seats is cause they make me happy when I look at them. They’re beautiful. So I’m not about to cover them up. Best I could do is put some...

Cargo cover not as good as expected

I hardly use it at all. Just another piece cluttering my garage. If I need to cover up my stuff, I put it in the under trunk cubby or frunk.
  33. M

Where are exhaust vents for cabin air?

Curious about where air pumped in from the hvac vents exits the vehicle. Clearly goes somewhere because the air pressure is not increasing. Some probably escapes from imperfect door seals. But because windows open for something as slight as shutting a door (to allow air to escape) I have to...

Lock behavior when driving or parked

How do the door locks behave while you’re driving or parked (while still sitting inside). I don’t want random carjackers being able to open the doors. Yet I don’t see any option to lock or unlock the doors on the screen or hand rest.

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

I wish Tesla would add paddles on the steering wheel (like MB) that can vary regen power. Although I am liking and getting used to being able to modulate the braking force with the accel pedal.
  37. M

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

That’s what I’m afraid of!!! I’m surprised I’ve gotten used to one-pedal driving so quickly. Although there have been several times where I quickly lifted off and the Tesla regens unintentionally. I’d love to know how my rear brake lights are reacting. I always hated driving behind someone...

    28.2. Wipers Gone Wild!

In trying to turn off this crazy wiper action, I fumbled about and hit the right stalk parking button while going 30 miles/hr and heard a grinding noise - prob the parking brake trying to engage. Did that cause any damage? I’m surprised that Tesla would allow it to engage at speed. It’s so...

    28.2. Wipers Gone Wild!

Makes sense. But the windshield was dry as a bone and not a drop of rain. Wipers went full speed cuckoo though.

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

I’ve never owned a Tesla before but two things wowed me so far: 1) yesterday I set navigation tosome place 8 miles away and to my surprise, the ending battery percentage was higher than it currently was! I then remembered it was mostly a downhill drive and the regen prob factored greatly - wow...

    28.2. Wipers Gone Wild!

This happened to me today. I assumed I had no idea what i was doing as I’ve only driven the Tesla 100 miles so far. Tried to double tap down on the right stalk to initiate autopilot and the wipers suddenly went on. Had no idea how to turn them off except with voice control. Tried it again...

"Charge port latch not engaged" only for scheduled charging

Same. Having the same exact issue as OP. My Y has 50 miles on it and the wall charger is also brand new. Here in SoCal, it’s been 60 degrees all November so temp is not the issue.

Can your Tesla with Premium Connectivity be a hotspot?

Thanks. That is really disappointing. My daughter uses her ipad in the car all the time and has to piggyback off my horrid Tmobile phone hotspot connection. There really isn't any reason why Tesla cannot provide this feature. All the hardware is there. Unless they're trying to save on...

Can your Tesla with Premium Connectivity be a hotspot?

My new Y has a year’s free premium connectivity. Can passengers connect to the Tesla as a hotspot and piggyback off the data stream for their non-cellular iPads and devices? How can you do it? It would be incredibly lame if they couldn’t. GM cars allow it, as do many other brands. Plenty of...

    Tesla Navigation - which lane?

Having used Google maps for years, I find Tesla navigation a major step down. The visuals are really bad. The lane guidance, when available is in small font and light grey. Seriously, I’m about to make several lane changes to get in the proper lane, I DO NOT need to be searching a 12” screen...

She only had 1000 miles on her

Ouch, that hurts. How does insurance view an accident like this? She clearly cut across 3 lanes. (are you blind woman?). But will they view it as you running into her? I was always told that even if someone cuts you off, if you run into the back of them, you're at fault?

Are Mudflaps Needed if PPF will be Present?

So, long term, you haven’t had any rocks or debris penetrate the PPF on the lower or door sill areas? No dirt under the PPF? Same situation as you: PPF ceramic coating socal, no snow Considering mudflaps but they’re’ ugly and add drag

OEM Modely Y Mud Flaps no longer fit?

If I already PPF’d the entire car, are mudflaps pointless? I gotta stop myself. Seriously, now I’m buying protection FOR protection. 99% of people drive a new car out without doing a single thing to it. So far, PPF Ceramic coating two layers - self Gyeon Leather protectant for white seats...

To "Sentry" or not to "Sentry"....that is the question

This is painful. Whoever did it will have karma revisiting them shortly. Or probably already has - lowlife loser. When I open my doors, I try my hardest to never touch adjacent cars. Treat others as you want yourself to be treated. I have no tolerance or forgiveness for gutter trash who do...

    Model Y Rear Spoiler, Advice

These stick on spoilers are purely for looks right? I doubt they add more than their own weight (2 lbs) in downforce at 60 miles/hr. Are the OEM spoilers on Y Performance models drilled on? Or also glued?
